- This was one of the hikes that I was looking forward to the most, for good reason! This range has absolutely incredible views that do not disappoint! I started out with a gloomy day, but the forecast was calling for a cloud base at about 2500 feet, so I was fully expecting a cloud inversion up on the summit, and I was not let down at all! The summit of Algonquin, the second tallest peak in NY, has you feeling on top of the world, or even on another planet altogether. It certainly made me not want to leave! The steep section on Algonquin made for some fast awesome butt sliding too! Unfortunately, Wright was completely socked in so I had no views on the summit, but the views of the rest of the range surely made up for it!
Fantastic video of the McIntyre range! I did them all last August for my 46. Started with wright then to Al and Iroquois. Took the boundary trail (really steep!) to avalanche pass. Indeed, it’s one of the most beautiful stretch of mountains in the entire park. Thanks for sharing your trip!
Absolutely! Aside from doing the Great Range Traverse, this range is my favorite climb so far!
Fantastic summit. I love open terrain and tops like this. Above the clouds and sen with the occasional puff spots, unbeatable winter ascent
Absolutely, it's an incredible experience climbing to summits like this! It certainly makes you feel as though you are standing on another world.
@@DerekGHikes ya great reply. In 2000 I was a snowmobile tour guide in Vermont. I took tourist up a ski mountain at 5 pm. The sun lit the peak but the bottom was pitch black. I felt like an astronaut on another planet. Damn straight
Great video! The Mac Range is a personal favorite.
Thanks for watching! Absolutely one of my favorites as well, only one to top it so far is The Great Range.
@@DerekGHikes have you done the Dix range yet?
@@jdavidelwell Yes I have, I also have a video of it on my channel, feel free to check it out!
Algonquin was my 5th Wrights was my 6th and Iroquois was my 27th High Peak and during my 2nd Marshall hike which was my 6th Redfield hike there were a set of clouds on Iroquois that made it almost look like a volcano
That sounds like an incredible sight to see with the clouds creating that! This range was absolutely incredible and definitely lived up to the hype I expected! I hope to come back to this range but also include the bushwhack over the Shepard's Tooth to Marshall, to complete the whole range together.
@@DerekGHikes it was I did Iroquois the day after I did Allen I hiked all the to the ADK Lodge from Allen
