Onyo Turns 20!

On December 10, Onyo, our African lion, turned 20 years old!⠀

Onyo is many of our visitors' favorite animals to see at the Zoo, and he's one of our keepers' favorite animals to take care of.
As a senior cat, he has some age-related conditions that are being treated by our vet and animal care staff. He doesn't move quite as fast as he used to and he likes to spend more time inside where it's warm, but he still came out to join us for some birthday enrichment and treats! He got some neat boxes to tear up and a lion treat filled with his favorite meat. After he inspected his presents, he went back inside to tear them up.⠀

We're so thrilled that we've gotten to spend so much time with our good boy. Each day is a gift, and we treasure them. ⠀
