  • Pictures of inside and outside Paisley Park in Chanhassen, Minnesota
Paisley Park is a self-contained 55,000 square foot, $10 million creative-complex located in Chanhassen, Minnesota (about 22 miles outside of Minneapolis). Prince came up with the idea to build the complex while filming the movie Purple Rain.
Construction started on the project in 1986 and it was completed 1988. The complex contains 2 recording studios, a video editing suite, wardrobe department, sound-stage, offices, his music vault and living space.
Prince lived the last year of his life at Paisley Park.
These pictures were taken by the Carver Police Department the day of his passing as well as a couple weeks later during the execution of a search warrant.
Hopefully these photos give you a better appreciation for Prince. He lived a bit more humbly than most people would imagine. For people that have taken the tour, it'll give you the opportunity to see spaces in the complex off limits during the tours.
Because of copyright issues there is no Prince music in this video. Instead I have used music that means something to me. You might not like it or think it fits, but we all have different tastes. Something I think Prince would appreciate. You can always mute the music and play something else while you take a look.
Lastly, please don't leave negative comments about Paisley Park, Prince or his family. People have left comments alluding to the family "looting" and "selling" all his stuff. That is simply not true.

I have a lump in my throat, which almost leaves me speechless. This is the most insightful experience for me inside of Prince's daily world. Looks like this was pre cleanup and inventory prior to the museum. Paisley Park is enormous and had creative decor for a man with genius creativity. I am grateful this video was released. However, watching it, deeply saddens me.

I have heard people talk about paisley park being this magical place, but these pictures to me show a dated building in need of a major facelift. I feel like this building is stuck in the 80's or early 90's.

The Prince is who he is . I know all about him .He will always be the one to me . He is loved around the world .Much more so than in America . A lot of the things in his home have been with him through out his life .He probably still has items coming into his estate from every where .I understand that when he made music , he knew how to play every instrument in a large band or what ever his arrangement was .People have no way of estimating the size of his fan base .I told this young lady that I was a Prince fan - she found that hard to believe .I told her I started listening to him in late 1979 , but I forgot she was only like 20 - 21 years old she and others had no idea he went that far back .

Prince wasn't lonely.... Privacy is warranted when your an icon. He always entertained the city, friends, and musicians at his house. He was all about his city, donated, and a regular at local businesses. I think his house is creative and it definitely reflects the man he was.

it was different when it 1st opened & he'd made changes. the pool in the atrium is gone, a lot of the colors, writing & pictures on the walls came in the 1990's. he designed the whole complex & [POV] it seems to reflect ideas from his internal landscape. don't forget he had other places but this was 'home' as his last years unfolded. chronic pain takes a lot of energy for making changes too 😞

Wow this just goes to show you how much of a regular person he was. He wasn’t this mysterious man that the media and people portrayed him to be. I never understood why people thought that about him. I always knew he did regular things like any normal human. He was just one of the ones that made it big and had a god given talent.

    • @Rita50
      @Rita50 6 років тому +14

ashanti hudson Maybe that’s why he didn’t want people to see his home and kept private cos he knew how media would react. You know some people like to live a bit messy, unfinished. I live like this all my life. When I saw his boxes in the Vault I laughed, it reminds me of my house. How many times I told my husband to move those boxes. They are full of the similar items like old tapes, CDs ... and the whole room exactly like his Vault. And I like to keep everything including baby clothes, papers etc. whatever was accumulated during the life. My wedding dress is out there too. If you have a big house you tend to keep memories.

ashanti hudson People think he was mysterious because he was so private about many aspects of his life. Yes he was a regular person but at the same time he wasn’t average by any means. The average person isn’t a musical genius. Prince was an exceptional talent and that’s rare. It’s all just so sad for us fans.

Wait a minute everybody! Mayté did say that her kids father was a neat freak. He was a perfectionst. Paisley Park stayed clean. She had mentioned it. This woman been around this man for an entire decade! From 1990 til 2000. She has no reason to lie. The only reason why it looks a mess is because you got cops, paramedics, detectives with search warrants terrorizing the place.

suZee Six I know where she stayed at. They lived in the purple house for a minute, then he let his dad stayed there. After his dad died, he had the house bulldozed. She spent most of her time between Paisley Park and in Marbella, Spain. Nonetheless, she did mentioned that Prince was a perfectionist and a neat freak. My entire post was focus on how neat Prince was. How do you think I am? I am nowhere near as young as you think.

I'm so TIRED of the negative 💩 said about every little thing!! It's a DAMN studio. Other artists used it also. The Police Been through everything. Then the family and staff left to clean it up. Organize and put things in the proper place. Catalog his items and preserve them. Prince owned a lot of personal things. Collected over 40 years. Just worry about keeping his Legacy Alive. Passing information to the younger generations. Two years of this is getting real old. Complain, whining, negativity, criticizing and more..... Smdh!!!

PRINC-S 7147 You are totally correct, Prince had many homes, he always said Paisley was his base as he grew up in Minneapolis but he said he lived all over the world. He had in recent years bought a beautiful villa in the Bahamas, where he relaxed. Paisley was his dream recording studio away from the big cities like New York and LA. I watched an advert about PP years ago showing how it could be rented out for movie s and recording. There’s a video of Prince back in 1999 still on You tube explains all about PP....

    • @princs68
      @princs68 6 років тому +33

Art Full ~ Thanks Art 4 explaining this further into detail. Idk what people don't get!?? The homes he owned can be easily looked up. I 💖 the home he has on this Island. W/the Purple driveway. It was listed @ $10,000,000. To me is a steal 4 a beautiful blue ocean, privacy & a relaxing get away. Prince did what he wanted. Including bulldozing down homes....lol!! The staff stumble upon the suit. He wore 4 his incredible Super Bowl performance. It was in a closet I hear was unknown. Heavens know how many secret areas PP had. Prince was so creative. He (may) have had a room hidden behind a wall, book shelf or something. Nothing surprises me when it comes 2 Prince.😉
      {"F.Y.I. U CAN SKIP THIS BELOW!"} ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
I'm happy, & blessed that I have seen him live. Been 2 parties @ PP. Met him @ Bunkers along w/Jelly Bean. I got JB's autograph on a bank deposit slip from 2001. Of course I knew not 2 ask Prince.😕
I know people that worked 4 Prince. I grew up w/the 1st rap artist he signed 2 his label T.C. Ellis (David Ellis). He lived 5-6 blocks from me. I recently found out Prince hung out @ T.C.'s home a lot. W/the 11 yr. age difference I never would've seen/met Prince then. I wasn't old enough 2 be hanging out ... DAMN it!! T.C. also had a role in Graffitti Bridge. T.C. has a sister named (SuAnne). There's a funny story about their meeting. To cut it short. She decided 2 wear heels. They had steep stairs going up 2 the 2nd floor. Well she fell down them.😮 I couldn't imagine the embarrassment. Jessie Johnson produced 1 of her CD's. Rumor I heard she was supposed 2 be the lead of Vanity 6. "RUMOR" I need 2 ask T.C.☺Currently T.C. has a school that teaches kids music, production, use of a recording studio ect...in St. Paul, MN.
I know 1 of Prince's Former Personal Assistants, (Mariah Brown). She's a friend of my daughter. I watched her grow up. There's a interview of her speaking about Prince online. I believe on U-tube. Google her name & it will pop up. She said, she NEVER saw him take any pills. I spoke 2 her on the phone. She couldn't believe he was gone. She told me Prince was a great Boss & mentor. She learned so much. Also he was a prankster. She told me 1 hot day in the summer. Prince pulled the fire alarm lol!! He laughed & let everyone go home 4 the day. She had a lot of work 2 due & responsibilities. Including running errands such as going 2 Target, pick up his dry cleaning. She traveled w/him on concert tours. One particular time he asked her 2 go pick up lunch. And she told him. Only if u play Little Red Corvette every concert.🚘
I knew his HS girlfriend (Kim Upsher) & her Aunt Darlene Upsher was my Best Friend. May they Both R.I.P.😢Kim passed away 4 months b4 Prince. From a aneurysm.
Kim lived w/Prince in the 1st house he bought. That was in Edina, MN. She was w/Prince b4 he signed w/Warner Brother's. Kim was the beautiful lady in Purple Rain. She played the waitress. The scene w/Appolonia & Morris Day. Morris ordered a bottle of the best Champagne lol!
I went 2 HS w/Mint Condition. Stokley Williams, Jeffrey Allen & Homer O'Dell I dated shortly.😕 We all had steel drums class 2gether. MC toured w/Prince & he mentored them. Prince loved the group MC. Idk if anyone knew Roger Troutman's son was raised in St. Paul. He went 2 St. Paul Central HS also. He went by (Roger Lynch) or Roger Lynch Troutman Jr. He was apart of MC shortly. Sadly Roger Jr. has passed away yrs ago. He was jumped & beat up, R.I.P.😢 Roger was talented like his dad. He even looked a lot like him. Roger Jr. played multiple instruments & could sing also. He has video's on U-tube under Roger Lynch. Roger Jr. has a daughter that is rapping. A different direction compared 2 her dad & granddad. So much tragedy it's so sad. Minnesota has/had so much talent.
When I was only 15. Myself & a friend were bored. We rode our bikes from St. Paul 2 Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis.😩🚲 That was CRAZY of us OMG! As we were riding back home. A car approached us. I was asked if I'd like 2 model her swimwear designs. She was a designer 4 Prince.🤤 I said yes I'd love 2. The shooting day on the beach @ Lake Calhoun came. We had our make-up & hair done. In the building downtown Prince used b4 moving everything 2 PP. I think back 2 that time. I'm still kicking myself. It could've turned into a life changing opportunity. At the time I was a kick ass dancer. I had a girls pop locking, break dancing group. It was 4 of us. We would perform 4 money. If I had only opened my mouth. And asked how could I get a chance 4 the group 2 meet w/Prince. And possibly audition 4 him. Not to Toot our horns or brag. We could out dance all his girl dancers.
I'm SORRY this post became so looooong & off topic. Living in The Twin Cities it is easy 2 know someone. Or someone that knows someone. I know others in the industry that came out of St. Paul/Minneapolis. I don't believe they had any connection 2 Prince. I could be wrong. But Prince is our Hometown ICON everyone loved, aspired 2 be great like him, they looked up to him. My friend a Grammy Award winning Producer (Anthony Dent). He worked with Destiny Child, Beyonce', Jay-Z, Biggie Smalls 2 name a few. He went 2 Central High School. The group NEXT from Minneapolis. I recently attended the 90's Block Party Concert. I had all access because of T-low & Tweets sister. I was able to be in the front main floor, Back stage, & their dressing area after they finished. One day they maybe my brother in laws.😁
Prince put us on the map. I'd like 2 think he opened doors 4 more Minnesotan groups. We have that distinct minnesota sound. Another artist here I believe his name is Blake?? He's going 2 blow up fast. This guy can really sing. But we all know, No One Compares 2 Prince. Never Will There Be Anyone Close To Him!! To have lived 2 see the GREATEST Artist that lived. Is a blessing. We must continue to share his Legacy.
Is there any other Artist that did or could do EVERYTHING Prince did. Single handed alone. Such as complete a total album. Write, compose, play all instruments, do all the vocals, produced, arranged, danced in heels & much more.....??! I'll wait🤔 💯💯💯💯

PRINC-S 7147 Wow, it’s so interesting to hear about your times in Minneapolis and your connection to Prince....amazing. We don’t get to hear enough from the every day people that lived nearby. I love hearing about his concerts at PP for the locals and his gigs in local bars....I can’t even imagine how brilliant it must have been to be there, with Prince up close, if you know what I mean lol. I have only ever seen Prince at the big stadiums and I now regret not being in his fan club and getting the vip tickets for smaller venues. I live in England but Prince did play the smaller venues in London over the years.
What was he like to see up close in person, I would have fainted probably😃
That’s so cool you knowing Kim, yeah she was before his fame, and I didn’t realise she was in that scene in Purple Rain. What was she like ? Yeah it’s a shame, so many people missed their chance with Prince, especially the shy nice types that thought “ I can’t say or do because he’s Prince”. Yeah us fans would really love to know more about the every day local side of Prince. I really enjoyed reading your reply, can imagine what it must have been like to be there all those years ago💜💜💜

This is a true TOUR of Prince's life - not the prepped finished tour they do now. You learn about Prince from these pics. It was organized chaos. He was typical man who's attention span went from one thing to the next. The place is lived in and rarely did he feel the need to have everything in its proper place. He drank 5-hour energy shots; used eye drops; had meds for hearing loss; cool to see his bedroom and bathroom. Underground car port where some videos were shot and his bikes are kept. Each room invokes an emotion and color theme (like my house does). This is a true tour and I GOT MORE from this than I ever would from a tour 2day where they only allow U to see what they made perfect. Thank U!

He had an Aunt in Vincent Al, she was so sweet I really loved her...she and her daughter ( his cousin) would always keep my boys alot for me while I finished seeing my patients...yes I'm a former cna and I did hospice... when you would look at his aunt, you would see him!!! When you saw him you saw his aunt!!! They were so much alike it was so unreal...they both had the same style of hair, their facial features, their bodies structure as well... I will always remember them and the family and so will my boys ( which they are grown young men now) with lots of love for the families and respect as well...

Despite the indiscretion it shows clearly what brain and how industrious Prince was, to set up all this at an early age. So at the end, I appreciate the upload. A clear role model for young generations, not to waist time but to go for your dream right away. He created a lot our jobs for many people and also influenced many with his creativity and talent as well as he was a magnet for other talents. As soon as he picked up momentum, he used it the right way; I clearly see him in line with other successful people, no matter what business they are in.

One has to remember this was Prince home for the better part of 30 years. In most of our homes there are areas that we do not use that often and yep they can get cluttered. At the end of the day Prince was just like us except he had a musical gift. I am just sorry we got to see what he would more than likely never wanted to share .. rest in purple paradise Prince

Not My Real Name Anything is possible. But idk if they could really do anything with it. As far as expensive jewlery. Usually has serial numbers on them. My brothers friend wore 150,000 of ice in town. His bracelet was stolen. But never pawned in a shop. It's harder to get rid of for regular people. I don't know who does that kind of business. Like Brady's stolen jerseys they eventually caught the thief.

Prince planned this years before his passing. Fred Rilley - You're absolutely right Fred. All this was released on The Carver County website. Prince was a neat man. Even though it was a studio. He wouldn't have items all over on the floor. Prince did pretty much live there the last few years. His living quarters were emaculant. I don't see the purpose behind releasing these photo's. Total disrespect of Prince, his family and us his purple fam!!💜 To trash his home. And not have any care for his personal belongings. Some that cannot be REAL FAM!! Seem to think or believe Prince was messy. He was HUMAN like us. I'm sure he had his days. As I've said he has 40 years of special designed outfits. I believe was 600+ of them. His shoes to match, hats and so on..... Complain to the Carver County Police is all I can say.☺

That room is dope. I never seen upstairs or in that other egg shaped building next to the actual main house. But he didn't plan for what would happen with his prodigious volumes of music or his wealth? Not like him AT ALL to leave his music out there with no directions on who would assume care of his musical legacy. Mayte said in 2016 or 2017 interview that he indicated he had a will around the time they got married and she was pregnant (1996) so the business of the missing will NEVER smelled right to me...

I am just concerned where they are now and who thinks they own them or have control to compile and release new collections from them. An amusement concern such as you mentioned has no legal right to own or withhold yhem. As far as I know, the family members who inherited everything have no clue what to do with them. Such a sad situation, since he went to such lengths to get and keep them out of the hands of the record company which he contracted with. I am sure there is a distribution deal somewhere, but since he left little to no instructions, their fate may be up in the air.

    • @princs68
      @princs68 6 років тому +1

Son of Prince My guess is. They went to the Carver County website. And downloaded it. I was watching another guy briefly I stumbled on. He was on U-tube downloading a file. And couldn't believe how long it was taken. The internet, computers can be evil at times.
They released everything they could legally on Prince and the investigation. So the public can go look at page after page. It's a lot of pages ..... Smh!!

His relatives should set up Paisley Park as a tourist location like Elvis family did for Graceland. Just don’t let his beautiful creation go to waste because there’s history there that the world could enjoy for years. I would love to see it as Prince left it.

ArkOmen1 Prince was such a mysterious guy. He kept to himself and part of his charm was the mystery. I feel like I invaded his privacy, I doubt he would allow this to be released if he was alive.

It seems very intrusive, at best.
      RIP Prince.
Never worried what people said and quite frankly probably why he stayed to himself...everyone always judging him.
Only thing he had to be concerned with is what God saw and knew.
Yeah I believe he had a relationship with God.

Too many windows! Looks like a converted home office for Budweiser. It also gives the impression that the 80's/early 90's were his hayday..

Fascinating place. I wonder how much of the overall floor plan was in existence before he bought it, and how much was pure Prince design. Obviously the decor was his design.

I find the comments on this video are so interesting .it seems like most people have notions and ideals as to what it means to be successful, right, good, special, etcetera.give me a break.these are the qualities of a unique being that didn't seem to have any hangups as to what to do with himself. To me it seems like he was living freely exactly how he wanted to. You hear it all the time from him and others He was totally and completely consumed with his art. . One of his concerts on utube u can clearly hear him say we should celebrate our differences. What most of the comments here are telling me that most peoples points of view lack vastness and openness to unconventional lifestyles. How awful..

PPL these photos were taken after his death . Had he been living, these photos would never have been taken, much less on youtube. His music would not be on youtube nor in a credit card commercial. Most of his stuff had been removed, ran-sacked and left in total disarray. From what I've heard and read about him, Prince was controlling and untrusting, so, I find it hard to believe that he didn't leave a will because he would have wanted to decide what happens to the things he worked hard to build. I miss Prince. He was my all-time favorite entertainer.

I went to Paisley Park one time and I don't think I'll ever go there again. I'm a huge fan of Prince. To go there was so sad. He would not want people just walking around his house like that. On top of that it just didn't seem right. If he were still alive he would be still rocking out parties and inviting random people to come hang out and enjoy his music. Instead Graceland bought it out and made it corporate. May his music and door in the hearts and souls of those that really understood

Paisley Park was not Prince's home. It's a recording studio. Production area. It was his place of business. If anyone knew Prince. Should know he had 3 other homes in the area. Not far from his studio. He had other homes outside of Minnesota. He had one in Canada. One of his properties sold. The owners are building a new home there. Because Prince had the house there bulldozed down. The new owners plan to keep the gate up. That Prince had there. I'm sure many have seen this metal gate. If you Google you can pull up all his homes. They are beautiful. Paisley Park is a Studio. Now a Museum. Does it look like a home to you? Or a place of business like a warehouse??? Anyone with common sense would know. Or a person that truly knew Prince period!!

To all those who said the place looks like a mess because the photos were taken after the police went trough - that's not logical at all. The only sense these photos make is if they were taken WHILE the police was there and BEFORE anything was touched or moved, because that's the only reason police take these pictures, to document the state the place was in when police found it. It would make no sense whatsoever for them to take pictures AFTER they went through everything and/or moved stuff. Just common sense. What you see is how the place looked like right after Prince's passing.
