When you're finally about to be productive but Katie uploads a 67-minute-long vlog 😭 😂 so excited to watch even if I have no immediate plans to read this book right now?? Your excitement is contagious!
I’m glad you enjoyed this book! I agree with your final thoughts, how did she not include those emotional scenes in a 700+ page book 😭 I gave it a 3/5 because I felt the ending was underwhelming and I didn’t like the way she treated certain events. The side characters saved it for me, as I can’t deal with her endless love triangles anymore. That being said, I will still read her new releases because I have no self control 🫣
Hey Katie, I am loving your reading blog so much. I’ve read Chain of Thorns and I finished the book earlier this month. I freaking love it. Now I’m reading clockwork angel and I’m enjoying the book❤
the most anticipated reading vlog in february ever. i've been waiting at the edge of my bed every night for your chain of thorns video. and its one hour yeay 😫📚
Katie!!! your vlog is making me excited to read the last hour and I've not even finished the infernal devices😭😭I love a book that makes me feel like I'm in a different world, and I think that the Shadowhunter series is going to make me feel that way.
ah well i'm glad you're excited to read them!! i hope you're enjoying the infernal devices! and yes even thought the shadowhunters books take place in out world, they still feel like they're in another world and i love them for that!!
Excited to eventually read the whole series. It will take me most likely a year and a half but I will get there. So excited for you in the video of reading the book.
Loved this vlog! I finished Chain of Thorns on Friday, 2/3 at 2 AM. I've read and love all of the Shadowhunter books. I started reading the series when City of Glass came out. I ended up giving Chain of Thorns 4 stars.
Watched this just a day after finishing Chain of Thorns and I am unwell!! I'm just here for the good time in seeing you read and annotate, Katie!! Adore youu! 💓
THANK YOU for walking us through the best way to tackle Cassandra Clare books!! I’ve been really itching to start the series, especially since her new book just came out but I haven’t been able to figure out the best order because I don’t want to be spoiled. So thank you!!🤗
Katie... u honestly make my want to fall in love with reading again 💚💛💚 Not saying that I had a falling out...I just let too many things take priority and shifted balance.
I’ve been waiting for this vlog! I’m currently at the end of Part 1 of “Chain of Thorns” before the intermission so I didn’t watch the spoilers clip but I will when I finish the book! I’m also on Book 3 of the Mortal Instruments too. You inspired me to read the entire Shadowhunter chronicles so that’s been my reading challenge for 2023 so far! Absolutely loved how long this vlog was, Katie! It was so fun to watch! Edit (Feb 18): I have read the rest of “Chain of Thorns” now and I agree with your ending thoughts on how things went. I also was not expected the death of the one character and feel like we should have gotten more. As for the endgame couple, I am also happy about that and I like the storyline given to what Matthew was going to do next at the end of the story. Alastair also became a favorite character of mine and I loved seeing his personal growth and relationships with others improve throughout the series.
thank you for sharing your final thoughts!! i hope you enjoyed chain of thorns overall! i'm really glad alastair got his mini needed redemption arc haha, so glad he became a favorite character for you as well! all of his scenes with thomas were stunning honestly
as someone with 0 interest in the mortal instruments, i’m going to be starting my shadowhunter journey with the infernal devices bc i literally just want to read the last hours, that’s the only series i wanna read bc i’ve been having fomo 🤣
i loved this vlog so much, i'm so happy it was a long one! and i loved chain of thorns as well. it wasn't my favorite in the series but i still enjoyed it. i'm sad to say goodbye to these characters 😢
ah thank you so much! i agree that it unfortunately was not my favorite of the series (it was still a good time for sure), but i will also deeply miss these characters😢
I read baaaack in the day up to the fifth book of the mortal instruments but never Heavenly Fire bc the same edition never came to my country. So I decided to read Clockwork Angel and that's it lol. Its been 84 years since I read her books and hearing your recommended reading order I'm glad that I haven't continued. You have actually made me excited to continue all her books :)!
I haven't read any Cassandra Clare books yet but they're definitely on my tbr (I even have Clockwork Angel waiting on my shelf already haha). I really wanna read her books, especially now that you made me feel all these emotions during this reading vlog 🤭😭
Ah, I have been so excited for this vlog! 💙✨ I agree with all of your final thoughts, I really enjoyed the book but I wish we got more of the emotional moments and I felt like the miscommunication was drawn out way too long. I don’t think I’ll ever forgive her for you know what 😢 Cassandra Clare said on her tour that she wrote the family tree when she thought she was done writing her historical characters, then she got the idea for the last hours while writing the dark artifices. She also said that Holly Black told her to write the series anyway and to include why the family tree is incorrect 😅 She said writing the family tree in the first place was her biggest regret. I love this series and these characters so much and I’m sad that it’s over. Where is book 4???? 😩
I read TMI in January because of your “old” videos😂 And I liked it in the end so I’m glad that I read this series but TID is better🙄 Today I got TDA last two books and TLH first two books (because in Hungary we don’t have the release date for Chain of Thorns yet) and I can’t wait to read those books🫣 But before I start to read TLH I’ll reread TID😍
🎉 Ranty vlog! But you obviously loved the series til the end and it was worth the time. I haven’t read any books by CC-maybe one day. I’m not super fond of angsty romance and I hear she’s good at writing that. Glad you did get Curious Beginning. Newest in that series comes out in March-Sinister Revenge-really looking forward to it. Hope your semester is going well. You’ll be out in the “real world” soon I guess-unless you’re getting advanced degree?
oh if you don't like angsty romances then stay FAR away from cassandra clare haha!! it truly is what she does best! but thank you again for a curious beginning
Spoilers I thought I was prepared for whoever was going to die but Christopher like he was so sweet and so unexpected. It was pure pain I read that scene and then re read it like 6 times trying to process it.
Yeah. The death hits hard. Well we did do a tribute to him. ( Hail and Farewell YT/the Loremaster Recast. ) I don't know how to feel about this book though ... I see some really underwhelming moments but overall every Cassandra Clare book is tender. Timewise that is. And that's what I read her books for.
I always wanted to get a book where the reader before me wrote notes in it. To read their take on it as I read the book. See if it's the same or see it in a different view.
i tried reading clockwork angel i think it is, but i don't know why i didn't keep going. regardless, even though i'll never read any of her books, i love your reading vlogs for them because they motivate me to read and have fun reading.
well thank you for watching anyway!! :) i definitely get that cassandra clare isn't for everyone, but if i can still motivate you to want to read then i'm happy🥰
What I didn't like about the book/series was that there weren't any downworlders in main roles. In the mortal instruments the cast was so much more diverse. And in TLH it's just Shadowhunters. Maybe it's because of the time period it plays in but I kind of missed some werewolves and vampires there...... But I definitely enjoyed reading it. And also watching all of your reading vlogs right after finishing the books😉
What a champion! I barely made it through the first and dnf'ed the second. The love triangle, mind control plot device got on my nerves so baddddddd. I couldn't stand it. I just wanted to read about Lucy and Jesse, lol.
I stumbled upon Chain of Gold in November. Thought id give it a shot a few chapters in ( or maybe almost halfway in ). I GOT HOOKED . Read book 2, 📖 Chain of Iron in the end of December i literally read that book so fast 😢 maybe too fast was so good ( even with my rollar coaster of emotions) i truly really enjoyed Cassandra Clares writing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️📚💯😍and of course my fav characters were Cordelia and James althought i loved Lucys character in book 📖 2 and how her relationship progressed with Jesse and how all that unfolded was amazing and magical . I picked up chain of thorns at the book store just to see how heavy it was and it was legit like 10 pounds 😂😂 respect to all my Cassandra Clare girlies
I bought this book because the cover was so beautiful..... Now I need the first 2, lol. I know the author has a lot of books and I think I heard I need to read one of the other series before this one??? If so, what series is it?She has so many and I need to go and buy all the books..... It’s the infernal devices, book 1 clockwork angel, 2 clockwork prince, 3 clockwork princess, it’s her best series so far (even after this one just wrapped up) you should definitely start with it
I haven't read the book yet because the hardcover is super costly right now and I'm waiting for the prices to go down. I have hardcovers of the first 2 books so I'm trying to collect a set
Can I read the Last Hours trilogy as is or is it necessary to read some of CC’s other work first? I don’t really feel like reading her other work, but I am interested in this one.
It is perfectly fine to read the trilogy as a standalone! The experience, however, would be enhanced if you read The Infernal Devices, but that is a personal opinion, so do what feels best!
I’m on Clockwork Princess & the Clave, especially the Consul, is the worst. I’m at the part with Gideon & Gabriel which is making it better 😂 but still. Boo.
*spoiler* I agree about the Christopher fiasco. But this book just felt very bland to me compared to the other two, those were so intriguing! I felt so let down. This could've been one of my fave series if not for this book!
I finished reading TID end of 2021 and wanted to read TLH but I didn't start until this year Jan 2023! I just finished CoI this past week and I was so happy I waited until CoT came out to start the series! Reading the end of CoI made me want to throw it across the room (in a good way!) I tried so hard not to read any spoilers! I got the LitJoy version of CoT which came with an exclusive letter to LH from JB...I haven't read it yet because I'm not sure if it's spoilers and I can't find any info online about it!
I recommended anyone starting the Mortal Instruments series to look up the authors recommended reading order and it puts them in the perfect order with the timeline.
City of Bones City of Ashes City of Glass The Red Scrolls of Magic Clockwork Angel Clockwork Prince Clockwork Princess City of Fallen Angels City of Lost Souls City of Heavenly Fire The Bane Chronicles Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy The Lost Book of the White Lady Midnight Lord of Shadows Queen of Air and Darkness Ghosts of the Shadow Market Chain of Gold Chain of Iron Chain of Thorns
yes! there’s one in the last hours that gets featured pretty heavily easpeciallly in chain of thorns, there’s one in the dark artifices, and i think there’s going to be one in the wicked power which is cassandra clares next series

i haven’t read the infernal devices yet but i bought the entire series and chain of gold (because it’s gorgeous) because you definitely have influenced me to read it and i need to know why it’s so good. fwi i never read any shadow hunters books and i don’t feel like reading the mortal instruments because it’s six books lol and i really want to read the infernal devices and the last hours so i’m starting the infernal devices first🤍☁️
i'm so glad my nefarious scheme has worked and you're going to read the infernal devices haha (just don't let me know if you dont like it😳), but yeah you can totally start with the infernal devices! the mortal instruments is a lot to get through and its not amazing so maybe it's better this way...
Honestly I don’t read Cassandra Clare really but your vlogs just have good vibes hahahahahahaha
Girl same lol
Same over here
hahah thank you for watching anyway
When you're finally about to be productive but Katie uploads a 67-minute-long vlog 😭 😂 so excited to watch even if I have no immediate plans to read this book right now?? Your excitement is contagious!
same problem here 🤣
1 hour vlog??? katie u know ur audience. so so excited to watch this in one sitting :)
i hope you enjoyed ;)
crying during a book series like that is a different type of pain, but a good kind of pain 🥲
it was a good pain, but a pain that i will still never get over…
I’m glad you enjoyed this book! And i still haven’t read the first one. Its in my bookshelf for almost a year now. 🙈 I think I'm gonna have to pick it up soon.
I just found you and have been watching so many of your videos 😂 You're awesome!
thank you!!
Yess I never get that, people dropping spoilers within the first few days of a book release. I agree with how you did it, warning about the spoilers
it makes me so sad that people got spoiled so quickly😢

thank you for feeling my pain with me haha😢
Would you ever consider making a whole video about the shadowhunters chronicles complete reading order and lenght of the books?
The way this was an hour of you talking about a single book, but at the same time not talking about it at all is very impressive 💀💀
i am indeed an impressive person😤
I stumbled upon Chain of Gold in November. Thought id give it a shot a few chapters in ( or maybe almost halfway in ). I GOT HOOKED .
Read book 2, 📖 Chain of Iron in the end of December i literally read that book so fast 😢 maybe too fast was so good ( even with my rollar coaster of emotions) i truly really enjoyed Cassandra Clares writing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️📚💯😍and of course my fav characters were Cordelia and James althought i loved Lucys character in book 📖 2 and how her relationship progressed with Jesse and how all that unfolded was amazing and magical . haha thank you! this was also the most exciting vlog i had ever filmed
I picked up chain of thorns at the book store just to see how heavy it was and it was legit like 10 pounds 😂😂 respect to all my Cassandra Clare girlies
Cassandra Claire says to read them in publication order. That is how to avoid all spoilers.
there are definitely many ways you can read the series!

I must admit that I've also purchased books because the cover was amazing ❤️♥️❤️
1 hour 17 minutes and 7 seconds…..All Worth It.
🥺🥺💗
I haven't read the book yet because the hardcover is super costly right now and I'm waiting for the prices to go down. I have hardcovers of the first 2 books so I'm trying to collect a set
I want to read Cassandra Clare but I don’t know where to start! Where would you recommend?
I would recommend following the publication. It is also a fun way to see how her writing improves as the books go on 😊
Can I read the Last Hours trilogy as is or is it necessary to read some of CC’s other work first? I don’t really feel like reading her other work, but I am interested in this one.

yes, they all suck!!😡 i do love the side plot with gideon and gabriel though haha
Is it really your favourite series if you haven't spoiled yourself with something that happens?😂(aka me with Crooked Kingdom)
this is too true! i think i’ve spoiled myself for just about every series ive read and loved😭
I am getting a whole movie lol
*spoiler*
I agree about the Christopher fiasco. But this book just felt very bland to me compared to the other two, those were so intriguing! I felt so let down. This could've been one of my fave series if not for this book!

What colored pens are you using and do they bleed / ghost through?
they’re the staedtlwr triplus fineliner pens! i find that they do bleed through a little bit, but it’s not terrible
@@katieisreading Thank You! 💗 I want to annotate my friends favorite book for their birthday and I want to write in the color matching the tab lol
What is an Epilogue? 🫤🤔
Are there any others m/m couples like Magnus and Alec ? Thanks
yes! there’s one in the last hours that gets featured pretty heavily easpeciallly in chain of thorns, there’s one in the dark artifices, and i think there’s going to be one in the wicked power which is cassandra clares next series

i haven’t read the infernal devices yet but i bought the entire series and chain of gold (because it’s gorgeous) because you definitely have influenced me to read it and i need to know why it’s so good.
fwi i never read any shadow hunters books and i don’t feel like reading the mortal instruments because it’s six books lol and i really want to read the infernal devices and the last hours so i’m starting the infernal devices first🤍☁️
i'm so glad my nefarious scheme has worked and you're going to read the infernal devices haha (just don't let me know if you dont like it😳), but yeah you can totally start with the infernal devices! the mortal instruments is a lot to get through and its not amazing so maybe it's better this way...
