Very, very nice choice! Love Wagakki Band and this was definitely one of their best songs. To give a little clarity though, this is actually their take on a vocaloid song of the same name, "Senbonzakura". And despite the audible tone of the song, the lyrics are actually about the Westernization of Japan from a fairly grim perspective. On a side note, Beni had a successful career as a model before she joined Wagakki Band.
I know I'm like a year late to comment, but hear this one. The shakuhachi. Those guys play it without inhaling into lungs. Sounds crazy, right? It's a technique where one inhales from nose, and straight up exhales it from mouth. It allows for indefinite duration of sound. Those shakuhachi players just passing air via nose to play the instrument.
i never really had a favourite band I idolised before, until i found wagakki band. holy shit they are awesome! i can barely choose a favourite song from them, since i love all their songs. though top 3 i would recommend would have to be "hana ichi monme", "yukyo maichire" and "akatsukino ito".
I had the same reaction when I first learned about them. It was their song, Kishikaisei and my mouth was open from beginning to end. They're just awesome.

Another band that everyone needs to check out: Sokoninaru (そこに鳴る) The only way I can describe this band (Masaki - guitar, male vocals: Misake - bass, female vocals; unknown - drums) is if you took the guitar, bass and drums from Babymetal, and the vocals from Hello Sleepwalkers or Ling Tosite Sigure and told them to do a rock/punk/metal/jazz/alternative mashup. Should be hit or miss, but this IMO is definitely a hit ... haven't been this blown away by a sound so completely 'new' since BABYMETAL and/or Wagakki Band. This is a great tune, while it sounds like a traditional song it is actually from Vocaloid, an animated music program. Senbonzakura means 10,000 cherry blossoms, near as I can tell it is about Japan losing it's identity being westernized.
Unfortunately I do not play any traditional Japanese instruments, but I do own a shamisen. I do play the guitar a little, but I am not that good...haha.
