Solder the earth strap to the bridge?

Lyle - there is a fairly new potentiometer designed for guitar by Alan Entwistle of Revelation Guitars. They are called Smoothtracks I think and have a special taper to allow for better control. He is easily found on facebook if you like to get in touch with him.

You ever do 50s wiring? Use a reverse audio taper pot for volume and put capacitor between V and T for CR to ground instead of RC. It’s like the best thing that ever happened to me. No treble loss as you roll down the volume.

As I’m watching I realize you are using vintage. Haha. You lose volume dramatically as you turn down volume and reverse audio is the fix.

Hmm, not to be rude, but no. Reverse audio is even worse than linear when used with an overdriven amp. See my 335 rewiring videos. 30% audio taper volumes for dirty amps, linear volumes for jazz players. Reverse audio is useless in my experience.
And it doesn't matter if the tone network is R>C or C>R. But yes, I do fifties (which is just connecting the tone circuit to volume wiper, doesn't matter the order of cap and tone pot.

@@PsionicAudio Not rude at all. Always glad to hear from you. Standard modern wiring has two resistors in series whereas vintage wiring has a capacitor between. Leaving them in series allows the tone resistor to leak off treble as the volume resistor decreases. That’s how I always chalked up the difference. And there’s no question that the difference is undeniable. I don’t mind linear potentiometers but standard audio taper in the volume is absolutely unacceptable due to the terrible drop between 10 and eight.
I even got lazy and got tired of putting reverse audio in all my guitars and decided to just use the other lug in one so that now I roll clockwise to turn down. That is also reverse audio but in the wrong direction. :) maybe I will put a left-hand volume knob on it... :)

@@PsionicAudio in fact a friend of mine‘s late 60s 335 had vintage wiring but a standard audio tapered volume pot. He always had hated it. Of course I changed it to reverse audio and all was well. It suddenly occurred to me that the reason vintage wiring became vintage wiring was probably due to the relative unavailability or expense of reverse audio or at least linear potentiometers.

Vintage guitars never used reverse audio and rarely linear. For a reason. RA is a terrible thing to put in a guitar.

@@jaycee30865 with all respect, I don't think you quite have a handle on how the tone circuit works. Let me find you a link...
