This is fascinating and I'm loving hearing the history of it all. I have the " Ultimate Sashiko source book " but now it means more having seen this! Ordered a panel too- thanks
Me gustaría conocer esta técnica desde sus orígenes, y debe ser en Español. No hablo otro idioma.
No lo he probado. Está aquí: www.domestika.org/es/courses/1165-bordado-reparacion-de-prendas/units/5536-muestrario-de-retazos/lessons/16781-sashiko-version-ofelia-antelmo
As a Japanese person, I’m delighted that so many people are taking interest in sashiko! My mother used to do a lot of sashiko work. But I cringed so hard when I heard the Chinese music used in the intro 😖 This is a disservice to the high quality of your video content. A simple cultural check can solve this problem! I don’t want to sound like a complainer, but if you’re going to embrace a traditional folk craft/art form from another culture, I think you should show respect to the said culture by not lumping it together in a stereotypical idea of the Orient. (Japan has a long way to go with this notion too; let’s all aspire to do better together!)
@@davidandcharles5154 Thank you so much for taking my comment into consideration. I didn’t want to come across as rude, but I really love what you guys create and publish, so I just wanted to bring it to your attention to elevate the brand even more. BTW I just bought the Hooktionary book even though I can’t even crochet 😆 I hope to learn how to crochet then once I’m advanced enough, try out the amazing patterns in the book! Keep up the amazing work, I love your publications!
@@EddVCR Thank you so much for raising this with us, it's important to us that we're alive, considerate & respectful in all of our content, although this is an older video now, which limits the edits we're able to make, we can certainly learn from this and do better for future content. We're so glad you like The Hooktionary! It's an incredible resource and Brenda, the author is a great go-to to follow for all things crochet! We'd also recommend trying some of our free crochet patterns on Bookmarked Hub - this will give you the chance to try out different crochet styles before plunging into big projects - Amigurumi is easier than it looks and uses mostly single crochet stitches so check out those patterns if you want small projects to try out. Also if you like the patterned style of the Hooktionary take a look at Mix & Match Modern Crochet Blankets from Esme Crick - a stunning crochet reference book with 100 patterns and textures to crochet! Thanks again, we appreciate your feedback and continued support. Happy crocheting!

@@AnnMiE Muy amable. Mil gracias
Love It ❤️
Is the fabric doubled before doing a machine stitch around the outside, so it doesn't fray, or is the fabric a single layer? I'm a bit confused.
She has some good books on it but also there is an Introduction video on UA-cam too but same group
the stitching is simply to prevent fraying and is done on a single layer of fabric - I use a short running stitch, works great
Thank you
