Sometimes I miss that place, that era, and those people so badly I cry. Can honestly say, if god asked me what my choice of paradise would be, reliving those Saturday nights at bowlers for ever would be it. Since then I've had the great fortune of raising five kids and having some great times and I'm grateful, but nothing has compared to that time for making me feel I belonged.
i was on hitman and her when life was at the drome in Farnworth. And visited Bowler many many times after. Good Job Welly and mas respect for the gig for STU.
This was recorded before I started going in 1993. Used to travel from Bradford every week for the greatest nights. Used to face the stage stood on the railings of a platform. Such good nights. Used to love it at the end when all the lights came on. Always ended on a massive tune!
We went on coach trips from next town on.... Halifax.... (Even thou Bradford a city but it ok lol) .... Wicked times man !!! I remember Boy George was dancing in crowd with us one night. ... Mad times.... Once me n my fella missed coach back, got a lift bk with 2 young farmer lads from Blackburn. . .they came in for a smoke n chill n sleep to sober up b4 the long drive bk to Blackburn. . So many funny stories they had about spiking cows with LSD n shit ... Yeah sorry animal rights folk... Not funny now I'm sensible grown up..... But it was at time.... How we all used to get home in one piece the states some of the drivers were in I don't know....but we did!!! .... Went to N old school reunion there a few year ago , b4 lockdown.... I need to go another soon!!!
Did u ever do Lingards in B'ford? Remember a mate saying they did rave, walked in n it was a cheesy 80s thing.... We thought " f this".... Then mate says " upstairs's!!".... Upstairs was the rave n it was a bit commercial but still an ok local nite. Also Tram Shed in Halifax?
Life @ Bowlers, great days.. @ DJ Welly, Thanks man. I was there that night :) It was a very cringe tv show yes, but to be fair.. the footage is now good to see.. Huge club, great atmosphere.. top DJ's ;)
I used to get a taxi to Shelleys from Stafford if I got forced to do the late shift on a friday. Always knew there'd be about 300 people I knew in there, and by 2.30am that number would be up to 500+
I remember going to Bowlers once. Got stopped by cops for speeding on way back. Four of us taken back to station. Car was given a half ass search in the bright garage whilst we were patted down alongside it. Unbelievably, we were left to go on out merry way.
So many great tunes in this! A seamless mix of rave, garage, piano and progressive house. The Hit Man & Her was normally a bit hit and miss. I remember it as being mostly commercial; this and the Eclipse episode were exceptions to the rule. Personally, I think its successor BPM was a superior programme on the whole. I remember staying up to watch this episode. I was about 14 or 15 years old, slightly too young to go out raving at the time but loved the music all the same. I have some great raving/clubbing memories from 95 onward but you can't beat the early 90s for musical quality imo.
I was lucky enough to work there and was in attendance at many events over the years, this evening included, it was definitely my life defining era...🙂🙂🙂
Great memories.... Was there that night and on this vid! Always wanted to know what the track was called that kicks in at 35:00.. After 23 years i found out last week - Finitribe Forevergreen 'Justin Robertson instrumental remix' :-).
Been born late 80s I enviously missed the rave scene . Early to mid 90s before rave ended and sub genres took over...hearing set you free on dub plate must have been mental
Same boat as me. Fully aware of the scene in the Nineties as a kid, taping as much as I could from Radio 1 and the like, but being too young to go clubbing. Luckily my Dad was really into his house and early Jungle / Drum & Bass, so he used to take me record shopping with him and I'd hear all of the tunes that mostly defined those scenes as they were released. I'm not wishing I was older or anything, but definitely still bugs me that I was too young to join in on these times!
I really enjoyed this one, thanks for uploading it! Gotta say though, Michala and Pete should of passed the torch on at the beginning of the 90s. As much as I love them both, they visibly didn't get it beyond '89-ish.

What’s the track at 35 mins? By the way I would have loved to have got here! I had this episode recorded on VHS was treasured for years loved the rave scene especially 90-93 ❤
I was there that night and was asked to move away from Michaela because I was singing Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam too loudly as she was doing a link to camera ! (And yes that is one of my claim to fames!! 😁)
Have to say those 92-93 years were so special with welly, grogan, vertigo etc….mc bibby …those big swirly moments with sunscreem or just hands in the air with Dina Carrols ain’t no man to the likes of Mukka (Neebro) and felix etc for the p.a….never had a bad night…met some top folks and rocked my tits off on the middle podiums most of the time…the memories fade a little but you don’t forget the feeling.
I was an original 😊 known as brown girl due to my tan, regular here every Saturday Night without fail - 😍 - 💃First on the floor and one of last off - best club ever! 🫶🏼 Met lots of brilliant friends, Nina & Craig are two of those amazing peeps, if you see this message say hi xxx
