    Your cactus grew fast from a seedling. I like you method of bracing the cutting. I have a an unusual apple cactus cutting with only 4 ribs. I will plant tomorrow, thanks,

    Thanks for the video! We just bought a baby one after seeing a full-grown one on a vacation! Excited to see what happens!

    Great video, should I be watering after planting the cutting? And how long does it take for it to start to get roots.

    • @eljardinperdido
      @eljardinperdido  3 роки тому +2

      You can water just enough so that the soil isn’t bone-dry. Depends on the weather as far as rooting. They tend to root faster when it’s hot. I’d expect roots within a month.

    How does the mother plant heal? Does its top re-grow or do you depend on an offshoot? Thank-you for the video!

      It will grow a branch or two below where it was cut.

    Beautiful cactus, thank you for this. As long as it’s calloused can it be planted straight into the ground? ❤🌵

      Depending on your growing zone. I put it to the test, and 20 degrees pretty much toasted it. Waiting to see if it makes a come back

    Yeah, fuck opuntia thorns, I learned my lesson trying to grab what I thought was a bald pear bare handed. Never again.

    Is the plant itself (not the fruit) edible?

    • @eljardinperdido
      @eljardinperdido  3 роки тому +1

      Good question.. I'll have to look into that! Google just says their fruits are edible. I know they don't contain mescaline, but not sure about toxicity/edibility...

    Hello how to make it bloom? I got a 2 year old and it's still not giving me a flower or a fruit

    • @eljardinperdido
      @eljardinperdido  3 роки тому

      That is question! Mine is not mature enough to have bloomed. I’ve heard different things. Most succulents seem to need a period of drought before they will bloom. I’ll let you know if I run into any additional info on it!🙂

    Nice, interesting fruit too. Is it a fast grower?

    • @eljardinperdido
      @eljardinperdido  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, it grows relatively fast. That's why I'd like to get one in the ground. Not as fast in a pot...
