Sure miss Matt’s lectures thanks stuffwriter guy !! :)
Matt Atkinson is my hero. He got me interested in the Civil War. I want to go meet him in person some day. He is such a huge asset to the battlefield, if not the country.
Best park ranger to ever walk this earth!!!! Miss videos of this man!
OMG ITS MATT! Freaking awesome so lovely, been really missing missing these, so glad that there doing this again
Matt's back! I demand more ranger Matt or I will find your wearabouts and protest you sir.
You're the best man. Learned so much from your vids. Such a great story teller.
Major Cromwells story of devils Den is one of my favorite. "The Men Must see us today!" As a veteran, this resonates with me so much. Good job, keep on keeping on. 👍
Very entertaining description of Michael Chavez life and the interview with Jeff Shara was excellent so glad these are back on UA-cam again.
Matt he’s my favorite Ranger.
I can't wait to read Jeff Shaara's book on Teddy Roosevelt, one of my all time favorite American Heroes. I must say this whole presentation seems to present the agony and the ecstasy of artistic genius of a writer like Michael Shaara. I love his ability , as well as Jeff's , to identify with and express the soul of character's like Armistead and Chamberlin and Hancock in a style that is more impressionistic than technically factual. I hope Jeff has a child to carry on this family tradition of retelling American history in such a wonderful way
Appreciate Jeff’s honesty, humanness, and vulnerability.
Great program.
Thanks.
Outstanding...
I think that was the best you've done, Matt. Bravo, sir.
WHERE U BEEN MATT
I never knew I could love a guy I’ve never met so much
Thank you Matt. I love Jeff and his Dad. The three Civl war books have been amazing.Glad to see you again.
Matt’s video biographer returns!
Interesting him mentioning that his dad listened to classical music while writing. I recall in one of Shelby Foote’s C-Span interviews that while Shelby loved classical music, he could never write and listen to music at the same time.
I love this interview. I was fortunate to have attended a Gettysburg Battlefield experience with Ed Bearss through the Smithsonian Associates. As was said about Ed Bearss during his life, Ranger Matt Atkinson and Jeff Shaara are ‘living national treasures.’ I hope to return to Gettysburg one day to experience the battlefield with Ranger Matt.
Matt is a national treasure
Thanks stuffwriter man :)
another great video glad to see u back
Really nice interview.
Love your stuff, StuffWriter!!
Thank you 😊
when will we have a specific channel for stories? i need it please
Matt is awesome
I think Shaara was wrong in his appraisal of George Meade, and neglect to include his influence in the book. In the movie his character has one forty second scene. (Set in the wrong place, he arrived at the cemetery gatehouse and not the Leister farmhouse. While General Hancock was not present upon Meade's arrival, having left G'burg hours before to bring forward his II Corps.) Other character's mention General Meade's name a dozen or more times throughout the novel and movie; usually with a good deal of concern what his probable actions would be. This does not sync with Shaara's initial comment on his unimportance.
Finally as Chamberlain leads the V Corps on their march to Gettysburg on July 1, their destination of Hanover PA, which would have put his column nowhere near Taneytown MD and its welcoming civilians. When this error is depicted it makes me cringe.
Anyone gonna try to write about general George Thomas
Do you know of anybody writing anything on george thomas
I love Matt. I really do. But if your life choices have led you to a position where you're bragging about Lane Kiffin, take a quiet moment to figure out where you've gone wrong.
The mask on the chin is still more realistic than the Longstreet beard. Even worse, Jeb's beard and moustache.
Those fake beards were SO bad that they stole every scene they were in. Hilarity abounded
Just a thought...your mask does nothing when worn that way...might as well take it off.
Jeff Shaara is absolutely terrible. Same verbiage in every book just different characters. If you really want to see an absolute train wreck/phoningitin book read his book about Midway, "the Eagles Claw". A disservice to everyone involved.
