I know Mansurji since 1967. He represents Ind. Sur culture . He is an ocean of the Rasa . Never he bothered about the trade in the name music . It was he who could make the heaven amazed . The entire world of music knows that he was a sublime creation of Goddess Saraswati . The awards never dared to go near him for he was so godly to any other singers . He searched God through his singing and seldom sang for intoxication . The world of talents still rever him most ....
I am from Dharwad, ardent fan of M. Mansurji Sme how his magic attracts me. Great perfect person of Jaipur Autrouli Gharana Hindustani classical vocal music. Legend.
"Main bahut chota hoon" says the great Bhimsen Joshi and how can we describe the describe the humble sadhak of the swara Pt.Mallikarajun Mansur . Thank you so much for this priceless upload.
I am a music lover knowing no shastriya knowldge. I am from place of Pt Ganapati Bhat Hasanagi, because of him love for music in our area generated. I in my teenage heard Pt Mallikarjun Mansur in live programme once in Dharwad and I wondered can such person be so humble and simple as he asked audience will you want more or let him stop. I could not forget his gesture. A totally different style which is like soothing a child ...
Raju, I really appreciate this great upload of the undisputable doyen of Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana. To me, there is no musician beyond Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur. Being an unabashed admirer of him, I look forward eagerly to every new upload of this great maestro. That Pandit Bhimsen Joshi himself chose to introduce him demonstrates the rare esteem in which Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur is held by other musicians. In short, he is the musician's musician.
Mallikarjun Mansur is really an UNIQUE Vocalist, as I have never heard anybody with such a devotion and shuddhata in music . Pure Hindustani Raga......Thank you
Thank you for this little gem This and other recent uploads on youtube establish Pt Mansur as the greatest exponent of morning ragas of his time. The maestro literally owned half the Bhairav and Bilawal prakars, not to mention Deshkar, Bhibhas, Bhankar and Jaunpuri among others. He sings sajan Dar laage in Jaunpuri here, not his usual hum raiyya raat. As Archisman has pointed out this concert is circa 1991-92, since Pt Bhimsen Joshi mentions him as being 80 year old. Also the location is definitely not Pune. BJ would never speak anything other than chaste Marathi anywhere in Maharashtra. Since he usually spoke Kannada in North Karnataka and atrocious English in south India, I am guessing this was in the north. Kolkata, going by the accompanists. The music belongs to the heavens.
+havanurmic I think you are right, Considering that this is from the collection of the great Mr.Farhat Said Khan saab (President Sadarang Music Conf) this could be in Calcutta. Good catch. RajuJi as always your shares keep us coming back for me. Thank You and God Bless.
it's labelled clearly as being from Pune, and also with Pandit Bhimsenji introducing Mansurji it could have been one of the Sawai Gandharva memorial concerts that the Kirana maestro used to organise in his guru's memory...
Vilambit Jaunpuri bandish is the standard one for Panditji - Hu to Jaiyo Piya Ke Desh. Drut Jaunpuri bandish is indeed rarely sung by him - Sajan Ghar Laagaya
I am not a correct samajhdar of classical music. But I am a vivid listener. To me Pandit Malliarjun Mansoor is really an UNIQUE Vocalist, as I have never heard anybody with such a devotion and suddhata in music. I am cordially grateful that such upload have been made. Thanks for the sake of Music.
I don't think words can describe the ethos of his voice .....I wish I was born before to have seen him live his voice can make a dead man alive , clouds shower , sun rise and what not ...... just too intense his voice is.. he was in all literal sense a bharat ratna (even if he did not get one)
Pandit Mallikarjun is well & truly a सूरीला person !! Of course, I wouldn't pass judgement on him even in my dreams, but he is sounding so soothing to my ears ... a true gem of India !
My one regret in life is that I was unfortunate to have not heard Pt. Mallikarjun Mansur live. From 1964-1968 I attended most every live performance of Pt. Bhimsen Joshi in Poona and also annual Sawai Gandharva Conferences. But moving to USA in 1970, I did not get a chance to go to Pandit Mansur's performances. Although I am fortunate to have his many many live and recorded performances. In my opinion, he is truly one of the greatest Hindustani vocalist of 20th century.
Thank you for this lovely upload. A trivial query... Pandit Bhimsen Joshi mentions in his introduction that 'Panditji is, now, 80 years old'. Hence, would the recording not be of 1990 or 1991? Thanks in advance.
Ahitagni Chakraborty : Not as far as I know -- Shukla Bilawal has Khamaj phrases "S G m P, G P -- m" in the poorvaanga etc.. and Sukhiya Bilawal (which is also sometimes called Saavani-Bilaawal) has the Sawani like phrase " G m p, m p, G -- RS" in its chalan.
The humbleness in Pandit Bhimsen when giving introduction of Pt Mallkarjun Mansur is endearing 🙏

Shukla Bilawal 2:44 Jaunpuri 28:22 , Gandhari 43:10 , Bhairavi 47:04
Thanku so much for providing specifics.

अप्रतिम गायन.
STARTED CRYING LIKE A CHILD. WHAT A MUSIC. WHAT A MELODY
I was fortunate to listen him live must be in 1990s and was thrilled by his first Sa

Great ❤️❤️
Simply MAJESTIC
This is not from the 1970s. Most probably from Calcutta, 1990s.
Great
MESMERIZING ! MATCHLESS ! DELECTABLE !
Does anybody have live performance of "Mahadev' in Raga Bahaduri Todi by Pt Mallikarjun Mansur?? .. pl share if yes!!
Dear Sir, Are you talking about this one?
ua-cam.com/video/l0aJIWBxDAI/v-deo.html
Nice, Raju.. Please correct the spelling in the description to : Gandhaari
+Rajiv Chakravarti : aren't Shukla Bilawal and Sukhia Bilawal spelling variations but the same raga?

Oh! I was misinformed then - thanks for the clarification, Rajiv.
