      coveredinthecolors I love this song too. What exactly is it about/what is its background, though?

    • @anthonylynch575
      @anthonylynch575 7 років тому +9

      +Nocturnal Flare, it seems to be a mix of Lana's early alcoholism "Her liquors top shelf" and prostitution "Streetwalker at night" "The boys the girls they all love carmen"

    She sings about personal things and realistic things, she's amazing at writing songs, poetry etc. I think this song is about Lana when she was 17.

    There's two people in this song- low pitch and high pitch. Low pitch tells us what Carmen does and high pitch explains why Carmen does it.

    Does anyone else notice the sadness in her eyes at 1:45? She just looks so emotional, and it really adds to the performance. That's why I love her, her songs are meaningful and sung with such strong emotion... so much better than most of the trash on the radio these days. I fucking love Lana.

      Or in Cruel World, she says "Got my little red party dress on."

      Carl H. Oh no I know, I just love how she makes something so dark and ugly look and sound so beautiful.

    • @Hypnosiie
      @Hypnosiie 9 років тому +8

      Carl H. You think wrong, this is not based on Lolita but on CARMEN, don't you know the famous NOVEL AND OPERA ? it's based on that. If you haven't seen the opera or read the book then you should, it's pretty nice and popular. She did a song about Lolita tho

    • @Hypnosiie
      @Hypnosiie 9 років тому +1

      Carl H. Btw Lolita existed, there are a lot of references ..

    • @Carl17H
      @Carl17H 9 років тому +4

      Pan Da I think it based on a short song, Humbert and Lolita sing in "Lolita". Lana loves this book, so she interpreted this song. Probably Nabokovs inspiration was Merimee. And no, Lolita definitly not existed. Nabokov wasn't pedophile.

    Coconize isn't a word.
    She gives them butterflies - as in she makes the men nervous and unsettled in an attraction way.
    Bats her cartoon eyes - is a reference to her big, animated eyes and how she flutters them and winks. Being flirtatious.

      +Jesús López Verdú why would you say that you're an idiot the song isn't necessarily about prostitution to me it's about a girl whose an addict & uses people to get what she needs you can sell yourself to others without having to use sex you use your charm, & your wit without having to use your body but it still feels the same & you feel empty even though everyone likes you & everyone tells you all these things & still you don't feel shit & your just using them to get what you want whatever your "doc" is so you can actually feel something, anything again...that's what the song is for me!! It means something different to everybody but I don't really think it's about selling your body or sex it's about selling yourself to get something you want & losing yourself in return for it

      +Johnny Avilez The song is any interpretation someone wants to have only the person who wrote it would truly know it means something different to me but someone always has some negative to say to try to get a reaction out of people to entertain themselves & I'm not going to feed it into it like I said you can sell yourself to others without sex there's many different forms of prostitution but any who you have a nice life
