I forgot she used to sing this way, its so wild and expressive, I kind of missed it. and I realised Lana now sounds more shy than Lana at the beginning.
This really was a lifetime ago... I can't believe it..... But after being ripped to shreds can u blame her for changing her singing style? It's still similar now but not as wild and sounds more palatable. Not everyone enjoys this style :(
she had more vocal stamina then, she can sustain notes in all registers of her voice. Now she can only really sustain notes in her upper lighter mix (like ariana, but ariana has INTENSE vocal stamina and can make her voice BIG)
EXACTLYYYY. it's crazy how people make her so insecure... makes me so sad cause i understand the feeling. and she's so talented i hope one day she feel more confident with herself. she sings amazing live tho
her stage presence reminds me of amy winehouse here. no need for anything, minimal set, no dancers nothing. all eyes are on here because she’s so enigmatic. God I wish I could turn back time. I’d pay so much to see Lana at the start of her career.
@@bunnyskiddadle1477 somewhat yeah. in the beginning it seemed she wanted to be singer/performer badly and gave her all, nowadays often i get the feel that shes bored on stage and lazy, like she doesnt want to be there.
@@liska7872 yeah. And she had a whole other vibe to her. Now I think her producers or managers are trying too hard to lump her in the same genre as like miley cyrus or smth but it isnt her vibe. I even miss the way she cut and filmed her own music videos. They should give her more creative control.
If she is taking care of herself vocally, good diet rest, and vocal care regimen (even a coach), her voice shouldn't be getting any weaker and she shouldn't have to change the way she sings so dramatically to protect it
32 is not that old vocally speaking. The vocal cords are actually one of the last to begin aging, they don't begin to age until you are 60/65. But yes your voice does deeper gradually with age
This song is one of her most overlooked and I don't see why. Off To The Races is a stellar performance! For me, I love it because its the most wild of all her songs and I really didn't think she had it in her. It surprised me when I first saw it. Love it.
I dont know what it is... Her performances aren't crisp but its like listening to pure ART. The rawness of it all mixed with sensuality and passion... its all so beautiful and it feels REAL. ... I'm now a fan.
Jacob Murray She has multiple demos. This may have just been a version that is different from what was released, considering this was sang before BTD came out. I mean, look up what Dark Paradise originally sounded like. lol
I love watching how she changed in all of the different eras of her career. She's so special and crazy talented in every one of them. She'll always be a living legend for sure
Kids 50 years from now will look back at these videos wishing they grew up on Lana Del Rey / saw her during these early performances ...we should all appreciate the queen even if not everyone enjoys this singing style u have to admit it’s way better than the generic shit they have out
Miss these stage performances. She’s so authentic then and now, however, here I feel like she’s really in her element and exuding an effortless allure by her niche vocals, elegant dresses and 50’s make up looks, starlet hair. She’s always gorgeous but the born to die era never fails to be one of my favorites (style, and visual wise!! Doesn’t imply for her music because she is still on point
Off to the races is a classic Lana track.. I miss when my baby performed like this. More free and self expressive versus now she holds back. Regardless I love this woman and her performances.. #LDRFOREVER #PARADISEFOREVER 🌴 👒💐💋⚡️
Goddamn that was PERFECTION.. Stupid time has to pass and ruin everything. I mourn the loss of this version of Lana and I'm sure she does too. She hit those high notes live, no pitch correction or anything, I'm floored.
I can't even breath.... 🥰🥰🥰 this is the best performance of Lana Del Rey Off to the races, her style her voice, her everythings are made me fly till now 2021
She comes from the same well that brought us Leonard Cohen and Don McLean. She is tapped into the 'creative flow' which you will recognise if you're a scientist, painter, musician or anyone who is creative. It is when you are 'the tool' and something bigger flows through you. Paul Simon talked about it on a radio interview a while back. James Clerk Maxwell, the father of electromagnetism also talked about it. That is why people are so entranced. It is the collective consciousness we share.
I love her i still remember the first time i heard of her when i was 12 now i'm 20 and have been able to see her progress makes me feel so proud of her... i miss her old performances but the new ones are cool as fuck too
i knew her music before she got famous and she is so real and authentic. this video is so good bc her voice gives me goosebumps and also her stage presence is so on point and feeling passion from her. born to die album is literally top three best to exist. it’s literally so amazing. lana is a legend
I would stay that off to the races is probably my favorite Lana song…. Makes me feel unexplainable things- freedom, euphoria, I don’t even know. It makes me feel like I have a lust for life

I cringed so hard watching her recent Chile off to the races performance ... it’s hard to put into words, just look it up
Hovsep I loved that performance
She was more character then.

I agree. In her other videos with the dancers in this song she looked absolutely pissed.

she still perfomaces that way. she is very minimalist in her live performances, because she knows that only she is enough
I miss these simple yet elegant performances: outfit and hair on point, no dancers, just her band and her voice
Much like hope Sandoval in mazzy star
Yess
YEEES. NOW SHE HAS A LOT MORE DANCERS 😭😭😭
yeah. damn, i HATE those useless dancers
Wow this looks like it was filmed in the 70s and it sounds amazing live she's so talented
It's 2024 and it's still a masterpiece
I miss when she was this confident. I live for those early Million Dollar Man and Body Electric live performances. They were different 😂
I'm out of breath when singing along to this track.
Me too :D It is really hard to sing
Not it's not !!!!!! I sing it like a pro

Best live of Off the Races.

It surely is!
She was good and all but when the band jammed out at the end.. That shit was awesome
look at how young her guitarist. he's still there with lana until now. love these 2 people.
Blake and Byron (the pianist) are still touring with her till this day.
her mentality seems so afflicted, I don't even know what emotion she's ever feeling, I feel like she's mad and thrilled at the same time.
sociopathy
That’s the point lol
I had shivers all over me when she sang "Be a good baby, do what I want!". hooooootttt!!

Most iconic live performance ever
