The first ever sanctioned 900 was bowled at my home lanes in Nebraska. Since then there seems to be a run on these series. Technology brought the average bowler up to pro level and it has diminished the achievements somewhat. Don't get me wrong, 36 strikes in a row is fantastic and a great feat. I could only manage 18 on the same night but that was in 1994 before the explosion of 300's.
It’s only that way on house shots. They really nerfed up the oil patterns after reactive resin and synthetic lanes emerged in the early 90s. This was to get more casuals into bowling and it worked. Go bowl a sport shot league and nobody shoots 300….
