    Just finished watching the reaction and I could not agree more with your post reaction comments. With tool , something just happens. And you just GET IT. Almost no words to explain it when it clicks with you. The message I get from the track is that you must WANT to explore this region inside yourself and more importantly you must WANT to improve yourself and your life. I feel bad for the people who are too afraid of what they may find inside themselves and are too scared to sacrifice anything to see what they can accomplish and achieve. You two are amazing and thank you once again !! Excellent !

    DRT....where to even begin. A towering piece of music amongst Tool's catalogue, and I would say a timeless masterpiece in the history of music. Sonically, lyrically, emotionally, and instrumentally it transcends boundaries and time. For me Disposition is the meditative exercise to put you into the right state of mind to then experience the transcendence of Self that is Reflection. Then Triad is the sonic journey that brings you back from that experience to reality, a changed person.

    Arguably, Reflection and Triad are 2 of Tool's most difficult songs to play on guitar and bass for the simple fact that you need a lot of stamina and wrist strength to continually do the same hammer ons and pull offs for that long. Great video, glad you enjoyed the ride.

    DRT is the Holy Trinity of concert experiences. It was always the highlight of the 2002 leg of the Lateralus tour 🤘

    Some of Tool’s best work! The “keyboard” sounding bits throughout Reflection is actually Adam playing a pedal synth with his feet while playing the guitar part. Very impressive!

    Reflection is the greatest song TOOL has ever released. In my humble opinion of course. The song transcends time and space, and completely lifts every listener up to a place they have never been before. It's a supremely special song made even better when you listen to to all three together like this!

    As you both know, 2024 was the year of Tool for me. Into my 70's and I had never given them a chance. Then I watched one of your older reactions, I think it was 'The Pot' and I was hooked. Now I have 10,000 Days, Fear Inoculum and Lateralus and I play them often, particularly in my car! I also saw them live in Manchester last June. I'm sorry I didn't really watch your reaction as I did what I always do with Tool, I put on my headphones, closed my eyes and was transported as if in a trance. I am taking my time and working backwards through their discography, but only buy a new album once I have come to terms with the last one I bought. I am currently in that process with Lateralus, and reactions like this really help me understand it more deeply, and it's another chance to hear incredible music. A personal shout out to Adam Jones, why do so few people mention his guitar playing and arrangements? But they are all great, as you said, Alexia.

    I decided to search the difference between egoistic, egocentric, and egomanic.
    While all three terms relate to a self-centered attitude, "egoistic" refers to a general focus on one's own interests, "egocentric" describes someone who sees the world primarily through their own perspective, and "egomaniac" indicates an extreme, often delusional, sense of self-importance, signifying a much more severe level of self-absorption than the other two terms.

    They tried to combine with world/ethnic/tribal music. There was the section where they combined Arabic/Egyptian percussions/rhythms with Northeast Asia/Siberian/Yakutian sounds. I could hear the jaw harp in the background.
    You may think that I only listen to metal and modern international styles, but the other type of music I listen to is world music. For me world music includes Folk, Folklore music of all around the world, Classical music such as European Classical music, Mongolian/Hindustani Classical music, tribal/ethnic music.
    Therefore, I enjoy when sounds of contemporary music and world music are blended together.

    • @narvik9035
      @narvik9035 8 днів тому

      Whenever, I get tired of modern music styles, I listen to world music. World music can also be modern sounding, but the sound is typical for that particular country.

    The age 75 thing being karmic is the part I disagree as that is the around the average life expectancy. Bodies degrade, regardless.

    • @NicknLex
      @NicknLex  9 днів тому +3

      There are people in their 80's and 90's who are more active then some 20 year old's. Age is an illusion. Your body is a reflection of your life lived and how you lived it. I agree with your disagreement but I have my way of looking at things too. Its all good!

    • @RabbiSteve1
      @RabbiSteve1 9 днів тому +1

      @@NicknLex you have a good point. While maybe not completely “an illusion”, at the very least *relative*, as is (according to Einstein) time in general.
      So, your basic point, seems to be that age is experienced differently by different people, often depending on both experience and attitude.
      Still, at 68 years old, I am realizing that some things having to do with aging, we can never completely escape. But maybe we can change our experience of it.
      And of course music has a lot of power to affect that.

    • @johncampbell756
      @johncampbell756 9 днів тому +1

      @NicknLex I lost some friends who are younger than me to diseases like MS that just happened to them. My mother, who ironically was the person in her office who could tell you about almost any client and whose desk that client's folder was on at any time, is fading into Alzheimer's. It's the word "deserves" that bothers me. These people didn't deserve that. It's just a phrase.
      This is, by far, my favorite Tool album, despite the final track.

    • @NicknLex
      @NicknLex  3 дні тому

      Attention-seeking? You’re obviously new here. The most recent 2024 music she’s listened to is probably Judas Priest, Dream Theater, or Opeth. Maybe stay off the booze, drunkenmetallist. This is my wife you're talking about, so you better show her some respect! What "tits" are you referring to? Where is the cleavage? She is literally wearing a Tool shirt, and showing absolutely nothing provocative. I’ve been married to this wonderful woman for 14 years, and she is everything but a gold digger.
      I am classically trained in music, and it’s a blast to write and compose together. Alexia reads and writes music, she sings and plays the bass guitar and is as authentic as they come. Maybe do some research and get to know us before you write your garbage posts. People like you give metal a bad name.
