"What Dreams May Come" hit me hard. I lost my grandfather to suicide, I loved him greatly. He was a wonderful man who ended up suffering a horrible disease - to which he ended his life. That movie made me think if any such thing were even remotely the truth, I would rather be with him in a hell, than without him in a paradise.
"It's a Wonderful Life" was NOT a "life-after-death" movie, but more of an alternate reality. George Bailey didn't die; he hadn't even jumped yet. Clarence just showed him what the world would have been like if he had never been born to begin with. I would replace it with the wonderfully underrated Robert Downey Jr. movie "Heart and Souls".
it's a wonderful life always puts me in a great place whenever I feel depressed. reminds me that I have a reason to be alive and that I have touched others, wether I know it or not.
"The strange man's face still showed no emotion. 'You are not permitted to access Heaven yet. So you can take this offer, or you can join your friend.' 'What about purgatory?' I asked. His monotone voice sent shivers down my spine as he replied. 'Earth is Purgatory.'" - The Pariah
Just Hollywood picks. I myself choose the japanse film After Life by Hirokazu Koreede, where people when they die are sent to a station with workers helping them to sort out their best memories. The top moment (which may be hard to pick) are reenacted in a film studio, you then watch the reenactment on film and are transported into that memory, to live there forever, always feeling the same thing you felt living that moment the first time. It's a truly beautiful movie. See it, if you please.
"If your frightened of dying and your holding on, you see devils tearing your life away", "but if you made your peace, then the devils are really angels freeing you from the earth". ...
Nosso Lar (Our Home) It's a Brazilian film based upon the spiritual experience of a medium called Francisco Candido Xavier, and his conversations with the protagonist of the movie a renowned doctor who passed away from disease!!
Flatliners gave me the creeps during weeks after watching it in VHS one stormy night... Beetlejuice is terrific, I love Michael Keaton... What dreams may come it's closer to my own idea of Heaven, Robin Williams how I cried... Ghost is still a love story...
I think you should make another video with films that tackle what happens to you after death. My suggestions to consider are "Dantes Inferno," "The Heavenly Kid," "Heaven," and "Afterlife of The Party."
No "the Fountain"?? Are you kidding me?? It's the ONLY one where someone's not wandering around like a ghost or a zombie! Deals with Hugh Jackmans reluctance to move on, how death means giving up your memories and feelings, the unending loneliness! And how death is so foreign that even IF it could be put into words, it wouldn't make sense. Death doesn't have to be ugly or painful but it is still an *end* of life. My god, what an underrated masterpiece!
Meet Joe Black was a remake of Death Takes a Holiday, so I wish you had mentioned that. Also, Heaven Can Wait, a remake of Here Comes Mr. Jordan, would have been good for at least an honorable mention. Other than that, good list.
The movie Five People You Meet In Heaven should be number 1 because it explains that person's story and the people who changed or inspired their lives leading towards that time.
Hi. I love the topic of the afterlife. I. Was thinking about the journey to the afterlife, like a send off. Could you do a top ten of the best afterlife send offs. Thank you
Does anyone recall the name of that movie where it starts by a guy entering a room full of people setting on chairs and no chair for him, and there is a TV where an old lady tell some instructions to them and he gets mad for some reason... then when he tries to escape from the hole they stop him..? I think it's pretty recent like 2010 - 2015
The big ending of Flatliners was that it was all just hallucinations caused by starving the brain of oxygen. The movie clearly states that there were no ghosts at all, and no form of afterlife was ever encountered.
Enter the void is such a trippy movie and heavy not many people can watch it without getting bored is very interesting movie but not for all tastes, there was a 2010 Brazilian movie called "NOSSO LAR" the movie shows an interesting depiction of afterlife being an calm place but not like the typical paradise with angels and clouds everywhere, they show an afterlife that looks similar to this current world but without wars, disease, hunger, well watch the movie and you will see what i mean, it was distributed by 20th Century Fox
After Life (or Wonderful Life) is another good one worth seeing. If I remember correctly, the recently deceased are kept at a train station of sorts and have to decide what one memory they want to take with them. Rather poignant
What about the one with Adam Sandler and how he questions why the Angels weren't aging? That was a good one, I was just too young to remember all of the details.
For your consideration let me add the movie AFTER LIFE (1998). The title alone should qualify it for this list! It is a Japanese movie where recently deceased souls work with a kind of civil service to create a perfect memory from their life, which they take with them to Heaven. Good film.
You missed "The five people you meet in Heaven". It's an incredibly sad movie, but the idea of finding out why your life turned out the way it did by meeting five people that in one way or another changed your life is fascinating.
You brought up every movie I could think of and one that I did not know brought up death (its a wonderful life); all I knew was christmas WWII movie and thats all she wrote for my interest. I have seen the movie like 3 times and each time I immediatly turn my mind to more interesting topics. I feel there is one I have seen that you did not bring up and you did not show that belonged on the list.
I watch What Dreams May Come every February, on the anniversary of my first major suicide attempt (and subsequent hospitalization). Still fighting depression every day, but the movie makes me feel better. And scares me a little about wanting to kill myself, for fear of having to go through what Annie did.
Just think of dying like how you were before you were born or ever conceived. Just straight nothingness. No darkness no foreverness. Because everything you experience comes from your brain, your senses.
my mom allowed me to watch the 6th sense when it came out. i still have no idea what she was thinking. i didn't sleep through the night again for almost a year.
i did see my sister one night (we were sharing a room at the time) and i ended up attacking her because i thought she was a ghost. she was ok but my mom decided it was ok at that point for me to have my own room. lol
if their is a after life I'd love to go to the heaven where your imagination takes over so I can make yesgard the eternal battle field nothing but clashing swords and shelled as rock plays in the background
I'm here because I saw Beetlejuice in the thumbnail.
Nick Frampton oh my god same
Nick Frampton what other reason is there?
same
me too
Nick Frampton ditto
I was genuinely hoping Casper would be on the list. As a child, I was bawling my eyes out when Casper talks about his death.
It should have at least been an honorable mention.
That movie was trash bc c*sper is ugly and belongs on the electric chair in are 51.
CASPER has a machine that cures death; total copout

You are still aliv

'Earth is Purgatory.'" - The Pariah
Beetlejuice .. one of my favorite movies! So happy it's been recognized for something. Nowhere near enough kudos for this masterpiece.
Absolutely adore Beetlejuice but in the waiting room they put in some jokes but I don't know if anyone got them?
'Flatliners' is a underrated film. Something that did not get enough respect upon its release. This is the type of film you remake.
I love your videos! Have a great day!

It's d best film on after

I loved the lovely bones
The Others should have been an honorable mention
'Hideaway' was good too, as it had the scary notion of bringing back a ghost from hell with you after a near death experience.
4:34 that little head 😅😅😅
brilliant. although Enter the Void should have been on the list and Defending your Life deserves a higher spot. :)
jacobs ladder. that changed my whole prospective on the afterlife and I'm glad it made it as at least an honorable mention
Damn it, even clips of What Dreams May Come are making me tear up.
What Dreams may come is one of my favorite movies of all time and Corpse Bride is my life story
I heard he divorced the corpse bride because she was always rotten to him 😂
No "the Fountain"?? Are you kidding me?? It's the ONLY one where someone's not wandering around like a ghost or a zombie! Wanna hear a joke?
Repeat after me: "Joke"
IRFZ44 joke
IRFZ44 you!!!
IRFZ44 I
Choke, did I do it right?
I don't get it
What? Not even a mention of Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey?
Yeah this should have been in there! "Best 3 out of 5!" "Can you believe this guy"?
That's My Childhood Movie Right There!
@@frog7853 My childhood movie of a similar theme would be more like Dawn of the Dead.
#5. This is exactly how I always pictured it. Whether that's accurate or not, we'll all find out soon enough.
Blade1301 same here like when u reach heaven what ever ur imagination is now is the reality u live for enernity there
The most thought provoking thing about this video is why I feel compelled to listen to the Backstreet Boys
What dreams may come is one of my favorite films, and is truly underated!!
The Heavenly Kid. A very underrated movie that should have an honorable mention.
Damn great list!!!!
Glad that Beetlejuice and Field of Dreams made it to this list.
Meet Joe Black was a remake of Death Takes a Holiday, so I wish you had mentioned that. Also, Heaven Can Wait, a remake of Here Comes Mr. Jordan, would have been good for at least an honorable mention. Other than that, good list.
this one is a little personal but I love the movie "The five people you meet in heaven" I really like it and it makes me question things.
The movie Five People You Meet In Heaven should be number 1 because it explains that person's story and the people who changed or inspired their lives leading towards that time.
I'm kind of surprised that they forgot about *Heart and Souls*. Or *Heaven Can Wait*.
Hi. I love the topic of the afterlife. I. Was thinking about the journey to the afterlife, like a send off. Could you do a top ten of the best afterlife send offs. Thank you
I had hoped to see The Others here
The Others. (2002) also about life after desth. It is one of the best movies I have ever seen.
The Five People You Meet in Heaven? That's as thought-provoking about afterlife as any movie. Was an amazing book too.
I was surprised Constantine wasn't on this list. Nice list though.
Does anyone recall the name of that movie where it starts by a guy entering a room full of people setting on chairs and no chair for him, and there is a TV where an old lady tell some instructions to them and he gets mad for some reason... then when he tries to escape from the hole they stop him..? I wish this list had been expanded. There is an awesome Japanese movie called After Life directed by Hirokazu Koreda. It is an amazing movie.
Pay it Forward. Oddly enough is isn't really about death but it does make you think.
It really makes you think about what you will leave when you leave this life. What will be our legacy?
haven't seen it, can you explain it?
Didn't see that ending coming at all
After Life (or Wonderful Life) is another good one worth seeing. If I remember correctly, the recently deceased are kept at a train station of sorts and have to decide what one memory they want to take with them. Rather poignant
Beetlejuice is such a great movie..I just hope the sequel coming out lives up to it..at least Keaton and Ryder are on board!
What about the one with Adam Sandler and how he questions why the Angels weren't aging? That was a good one, I was just too young to remember all of the details.
I've always hoped that the afterlife is like "What dreams may come".
I clicked on this video because it had Betelgeuse on the thumbnail
The 5 People You Meet in Heaven. Heart & Soul. RIPD
came here to see where What Dreams May Come ranked. fucking love that movie.
"A Wonderful life" isn't really about the afterlife, though.
I guess they meant the guardian angel part
RIPD. That was powerful stuff
beetlejuice
How the fuck is Ghost higher than What Dreams May Come?!
Because Demi Fucking Moore, thats why.
Ghost is a classic tale of guy dies, guy becomes spirit to help find out who killed him, why they did it, and also to protect his girlfriend from them
I knew The Lovely Bones would be on this list.
For your consideration let me add the movie AFTER LIFE (1998). The title alone should qualify it for this list! It is a Japanese movie where recently deceased souls work with a kind of civil service to create a perfect memory from their life, which they take with them to Heaven. Good film.
Do a "top 10 Tim Curry performances" video

I would add Warren Beatty's Heaven Can Wait and City of Angels.

You missed "The five people you meet in Heaven". It's an incredibly sad movie, but the idea of finding out why your life turned out the way it did by meeting five people that in one way or another changed your life is fascinating.
What happen after death? Everyone else live on and you remain dead :)
***** why?
How do you know that?
Odd Thomas is also a good film about ghosts and the afterlife, in a sense
7:40 So Esbern didn't made it to Sovngarde?
You brought up every movie I could think of and one that I did not know brought up death (its a wonderful life); all I knew was christmas WWII movie and thats all she wrote for my interest. I have seen the movie like 3 times and each time I immediatly turn my mind to more interesting topics.
I feel there is one I have seen that you did not bring up and you did not show that belonged on the list.
"It's A Wonderful Life" is one of the few older films that isn't filled with a lot of unbelievable over acting.
Hey, Hey Beetlejuice ,First me then Chadtronic Now mojo talk about full circle
"It's a wonderful life" is my favorite movie.
One of the greatest achievements of humanity --> It's a Wonderful Life
GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES doesn't make it look too good, with the two kids hanging around suffering flashbacks for decades

the movie that made me rethink the after life?
Just like heven
But I completely agree with the sixth sense
I watch What Dreams May Come every February, on the anniversary of my first major suicide attempt (and subsequent hospitalization). Still fighting depression every day, but the movie makes me feel better. And scares me a little about wanting to kill myself, for fear of having to go through what Annie did.
I went to see Beetlejuice in theather when I was 5 😀

Does anyone have the urge to watch Beetlejuice again, after this video?
Because I have! :D
The Others is a great movie about afterlife
This is quite certainly going to be the only time M Night Shyamalan is number 1 on a Best countdown
Beetlejuice...Beetlejuice...Beetlejuice...=))
Yeaaaaaaaahh baby, this time i'm early.....
I miss the movie “Hereafter” with Matt Damon. Should also be mentioned somewhere.
I loved the one in This Is the End
Just think of dying like how you were before you were born or ever conceived. Just straight nothingness. No darkness no foreverness. Because everything you experience comes from your brain, your senses.
does starwars not make anyone else wonder about death when obi one, Yoda and Anikan are able to communicate with luke after dying
Beetle Juice, Beetle Juice, Beetle Juice !
my mom allowed me to watch the 6th sense when it came out. i still have no idea what she was thinking. i didn't sleep through the night again for almost a year.
did you end up seeing dead people xD ?
i did see my sister one night (we were sharing a room at the time) and i ended up attacking her because i thought she was a ghost. she was ok but my mom decided it was ok at that point for me to have my own room. lol

Am I the only one who wants to know how Corpse Bride is thought provoking?
I wish Wristcutters: A Love Story was on this list
if their is a after life I'd love to go to the heaven where your imagination takes over so I can make yesgard the eternal battle field nothing but clashing swords and shelled as rock plays in the background
