The part like groupset is cheaper here in Indonesia. The carbon is from China, then they assemble here Indonesia that is how they can sell it on lower prices
Absolutely tiny geometry, even the XL is more like an L from western brands
@@galenkehlernot at all, there is less seatpost to drop on this bike then my tarmac by a lot.
@@GCPerformance18 frame reach on the "XL" strattos is identical to the specialized tarmac size 56. So a westen brand medium bike is equivalent to polygon xl.
Did they sell out of the bike?
I clicked on your link and doesn't direct me to the bikes webpage anymore just polygons main site
Finally showing some actual good bikes at fair prices and not overpriced top of the line slop marketing want you to think is GOD tier.
I am trying to show off something for everybody
The crux of the polygon is the wheels. I’ve had the Strattos S7D for 2 years now and the wheels were the first thing to go. Overall, it’s a fantastic bike! Good job for showing bikes that people can actually find and afford!
yea I mean the wheels are nothing to brag about but then time i rode them for the 6 months yesd being they were super hgeavy, this was not an issue for the flat terain I ride on and also I found them very well handled. I would look to upgrade them when I could afford it but it would not be a must
@@GCPerformance18 of course, they’re round and they surely roll but if we are weight minded, they can go (but hang on to them so they can be used on another build!)
What an amazing bike, standard seatpost dimensions, no nonsense stem and bars combo...practical bike
I bought a Polygon Path F4 as just an urban-get-around-town bike and it looks nice for the price at $799. Polygon has quite a few good looking carbon road bikes with nice components for under $3K. For a more budget brand they look really sharp, even down to the logo, it doesn't look cheap. Might not be the lightest, stiffest, most aero out there but for an entry into cycling you'll get a great looking bike with parts to grow into.
IMHO (which is biased as someone who lives in flat area), if manufacturers are not going to include deep dish rims when they upgrade a bike's spec to carbon wheels, I would rather they just include cheaper aluminum wheels to lower the MSRP...since most of us would just upgrade the wheels anyway to deep wheels. The average person who buys an Endurance bike does it for a more relaxed fit, but they still want to go fast and do local group rides...and aero wheels sell.
some people like the normal customer who is new may noit want to go down the rabit hole and they might prefer just buy the bike once and ride it
Polygon is great. I'm using Strattos S5 for my training & even racing events sometimes. Their alloy rim brake variant is dependable. Also being an Indonesian, made me proud of the quality.
I started out on a Trek FX3 and rode everywhere for 3 years. I then bought a Giant Contend AR1 and rode everywhere again. both bikes are amazing and I still have them. it's hard to let go of a bike. I just ordered this bike and I'm so excited, maybe even more so than when I bought my first two. Give me some time and I'll answer questions honestly. Woooooo!!
thats awesome!! did you use the discount code? this bike has so much value for the dollar, and you are going to really enojoy the bike
@@GCPerformance18 Unfortunately i bought the bike before seeing your video. i paid $2999.00 but no worries, i still saved thousands! Your video made me feel a lot better about my purchase. That's worth about $150.
No complaints. Not one. This bike is fantastic. You can “build” it yourself if you have mechanical experience, what I mean is, check your nails right now and if there’s dirt under them you’re golden. If not, bring it to your local bike shop and get to know those dudes. This bike is out punching bikes in the 5.5-7K range no question. Buy it.
Greetings from Indonesia where the Polygons are made in a state-of-the-art factory. Their frames are now very high quality and look great. Best value going!
Cool 🤙👍
Makasih. Mana factorynya?
I wasn’t aware Polygon is made in Indonesia. I’ll keep this in mind the next time I am in market of a bike. Instead of buying from China. I’ll buy from my ASEAN neighbor.
@@jw3638 Surabaya
People are talking about them in America. Come over for a ride!
It's even got a Speed Sniffer on the head tube!
hahaha ahead of its time
Hey GC Performance, Just received my Polygon Strattos S8X today. Thanks for the GC5 discount code. Very good deals and I can wait to use it for long ride this weekend.
You did awesome bike review of the Strattos as well! 👍🤙🚴🏼♂️
thats awesome!!! the bike is amazing I love the price point on it
Totally agreed! The best road bike deal I have made. Best of luck on your bike shop!
Always watched your product reviews!
Thanks!
what’s does the large weigh
@@TomB-fs8sv
Size Large of my Strattos S8X weight 18.8 lbs without pedals.
I just got the Polygon Strattos S7X and I love it 👍
That’s awesome!!
The Price Point is Perfect, they should offer a Carbon Stem and Handle Bars in my opinion and take the price up to $2999, im sure customers would prefer this and pay the extra money for a full carbon cockpit with Full Shimano D12 Groupset. You wouldnt need any other upgrades and could enjoy the bike until it's next general service.
yea i towuld be nice
There's no s8x in Indonesia. The price bracket is filled by helios.
But we do have
S8D, carbon, ultegra mech 11sp, $1700
S7D, carbon, 105 mech 12sp, $1200
S5D and S5, carbon, 105 mech 11sp
S4D, and S4 alloy, tiagra
S3, sora
S2, claris
S1, tourney
The promotion overnight got weird. Price showed up as $3200 first thing this morning - now back to $2999 for the S8X and now $2,299 the S7X. Makes me wonder if promotion will go the full 2 weeks?
I think it would be great if these budget bike brands sold these bikes without the wheels, and made this frame and groupset available to bike for customization. This would reduce the size of the shipping box, which would reduce the DTC shipment costs and also allow the consumer to choose the wheels they really want. Taking 300g of an entire bike does not do much. But when you make a wheelset alone 300-400g lighter, the effect is quite dramatic going up a steep hill.
Ultegra di2 for under 3k is crazy good, I wonder how heavy is the frame + fork
He weighed the size L at 8.6 kg or 18+ lbs
yea the quality of the bikes are super nice, I have ridden the polygon bikes for a couple months and they have no problem performing
My LBS has the Polygon lineup, been eyeing the S5d, its all 105 stuff
No way!!! That’s awesome?? What store is it and where?
Hi, Im considering Strattos (S7D) or Polygon Helios (A7) as my first roadbike, maybe used for future duathlons / triathlons / endurance multisport. Which one do you recommend from these two bikes, for long-term usage? I am over 40 years old now and just starting to do a lot of running and interested in cycling & swimming.
Curiousnabout people's opinions this for 2300 or the merida reacto 6000 105 di2 for 2400? What would people choose and why?
I really like the A7
Dope bike bro
Thanks! Yeah I am really liking it.
Yeah New gc Video is on🔥🔥🔥
thanks so much for always being here I appreciate you so much!!
Thank you for this review, it was very informative depth and fun to watch!
As a beginner rider that is looking to by a semi serious bike, would you recommend this s8x even with its limitations? My main concern is the limited tire size compatibility, just worried that I would outgrow it before too long…
Polygon is delivering huge bang for the buck, let’s hope other companies follow suit….
yea they are putting serious pressure on there
Hey gc I was looking at the scoot foil rc 20 the competition looks pretty good that being im looking for a bike that has the di2 105 group set but what would you say is the best performance as far as aero frames that will kept me going with the 105 , I also seen the polygon Helios A7x but I’m still not sold on there frames maybe you could help me out !!!!!
the foil is a beautiful bike they make one of the best looking aero frames on the market, thje helios is a great bike and I did one of my fastest group rides ever with it, I will say the foil probably has better wind tunnel numbers on there but I norcal just showed off his helios bike he has and it tested faster and more aero then his scott foil
With a proprietary stem how easy is it to replace if reach is too short/long?
this stem is not proprietary but it is usually easy becaue that company will make a bunch of different sizes
When you rode this bike, did you think it felt like an endurance bike? Running the stack and reach comparisons on 99 Spokes has the frame much more of a race geometry.
yea honestly even thought they adverttise this as an endurance bike on here website by no means did it feel like this, i fel very capable
@GCPerformance18 appreciate it, man! I enjoy watching your videos as I'm putting miles on the bike trainer, so I happy to see you had done a review on this bike when I was doing some research. The S7X with 105 Di2 is $2100 right now, which is tough to pass up, but the person I'm buying for would do much better on a true endurance bike.
18 lbs with pedals is good. For under 5-8 k is awesome. Easley take a lb off.
What makes this an endurance frame? I Googled its geometry and what the hell, Grant?! 😂
I was thinking the same thing. M has a stack of 534. That is very low.
@@Squizzy05 STR* is crazy on this bike
*STR = Stack to Reach Ratio
Something missing here, Strattos is marketed in Indonesian by polygon as all rounder race. Don't know why american distributor comes up with endurance.
this is sold on there website as there endurance bike lol
I am curious, how often does he uses those wrenches on that bike stand. I am just not sure what he would need them for.
We are a bike shop that has been here for 40 years we do flat tires for cruisers and hybrids all the time. Cheap and expensive. We are an every type bike store
More value bike videos! The people ask for it
Where in SOFL is your store? I searched your YT videos, website, instagram and couldn’t find your location anywhere.
I am Deerfield beach Florida. Bicycle generation. But I do not sell polygon in store
@@GCPerformance18 yes, I know you don’t sell polygon. I have a Helios a7X that I got from bikes online and I appreciate your review - especially of a bike that you don’t sell! I spend half the year here in SOFL and the other half in Park city Utah. Just arrived back in Florida for the next six months and glad to know of your bike shop. Do you do bike fittings? In addition to my Helios, I’ve got a diverge STR (I leave my MTB in Park city).
It's just a matter of time before we see Polygon in TDF...
honestly, winspace has a womans team right now in the tdf
Hey, isn't Polygon also an OEM for other brands? Ridley???
Definitely looks like a Ridley
I honestly do not know that
I don't think Ridley makes their bikes in Indonesia. So no.
I only saw GT, Calibre, and Marin in their (polygon) factory. Is it for Ridley? Could be, or could be not.
Edit : some also said Scott and Pinnacle
This has a killer value, but uh, how's the tolerance of Polygon with pressfit BBs?
they are very nice but I always recomened now for any pressfit bb a solid one piece bb from wheels manufacturer or hambini or bb infinite
Pretty much buy a Ultegra di2 12-speed groupset and we'll throw in the rest of the bike for free.
not really when you can get an ultegra di2 online at euro bike parts for 15 hundred.
ultegra 12s group set is available online for 1500$.
Where?
DI2? I haven't seen it that cheap anywhere.
@@AndrewG99 google it, an outfit outta Illinois
Not Di2
@@Wanderer25 He keeps deleting my reply, if you google ultegra 12s there a place thats outta Chicago Illinois
Are you sure it can take a 32c tire? The rear wheel may max out with a 28c tire it appears…allowance for a 35c tire would have made it into the best do-it-all bike today.
My friend slap gravelking SS 32c on this one for 1500km ultra event. Works fine
yea it has room to take 32
I'm surprised you don't know Novatec brand. Maybe it's not so popular in the US.
IKR, it's biggest hub-freehub manufacture in the world!
I don’t understand how they call it an endurance bike with a stack in Medium of 534. That is very low for an endurance bike. Even the new Defy has gone lower with the new model but is still 558.
Further to that it as the same stack as the aero Helios and a longer reach.
Something missing here, Strattos is marketed in Indonesian by polygon as all rounder race. Don't know why american distributor comes up with endurance.
@@laillosidgar it’s the same Endurance branding in Australia so not sure why they have done that. It is not an Endurance bike
Round seatpost is just a cost-cutting measure, simply makes it able to meet the price point
Id personally take a traditional round seatpost over a proprietary ‘aero’ one any day.
Thomson on all my bikes. I much prefer the ability to dial in my fit than a few watts gains
Allows you to replace a seatpost rather than disposing a frame when the proprietary seatpost is no longer made. Round 27.2 just makes sense.
Amazing value in a sea of over priced stuff. Thank you for reviewing this even if it doesn’t profit you. Respect.
of course!!!
Components are expensive in the US. Not so much here, in the EU. How come?
I think because of import tarrifs, this is the only thing I can think of, I literally have customers buy durace kits from europe to avoid vat taxes and there low costs, a duraace kit to us here is like 4000 still, but I hear the same from the people over seas for sram groups
Ultegra cost 1200-1300£ form almost 2 years....
Yea over there. Not in the United States it does not
schwabble uhn
Man, this bike is not even released in polygon home country 😅
thats so weird this bike has been here for so long in the industry
Polygon getting very serious with youtube marketing
yea they seem to be pushing super hard, but the bieks i have had or seen I am really impressed with
Are the polygon Strattos S4D good? I have hear people say that polygon bikes are ass.
I don’t need one but i want one
its a nice bike for sure
just picked up an s7d for $1400 CAD, has 105 12sp mech, couldn't pass it up
wow thats crazy deal
The polygon font makes me think of SpongeBob. ☺️
lmao
@@GCPerformance18 Not a knock on the bike though! 😁 Looks nice. I've been looking at endurance bikes and also something like the Émonda.
"Sh-wall-bay"
lmao
Wow
Dude what? you're selling the UItegra Di2 for $2600?
Heavy margin tho :P
this is the retail for this group, I have no idea why. I think import tarrifs for the united states, I have customers who buy groups from europe to avoid paying vat tax
@@GCPerformance18 That's crazy... isn't that even above RRP?
You can order it here for less than half the price.
Awesome value for money, can't go wrong but the handlebar shape is a bit weird.💯👌🏻✌🏻🚴♂️
The bike industry is fucked. We may be witnessing the last couple years of bikes costing over 10k
no they will always be there for sure
Wth this bike is not available in it's own country 😂
😂 true
lmao so wild
