You revealed other parts of the old IRT line that I should have seen when I was 14 years old. TrainRider Railfan, thank you for another railroad forums. Keep those trains coming!
This is just terrific. The amount of research is extremely impressive. I have always wondered about the history of the insanely complicated Atlantic Avenue Interlocking, which has always fascinated me. In 1966, when I was in High School, and the Transit Authority answered my request for a set of the NX/UR interlocking Typical prints (edition 1958) designing my own implementation of that snazzy new interlocking was my self-assigned summer project, 30 years before I would write a simulator allowing me to test such a thing, and today Atlantic Avenue is one of the handful of "real" interlockings distributed with NXSYS (see my personal site). Thank you again for publishing the answer to a lifelong mystery for me!
10:43; The ceiling at Atlantic Avenue, that Train rider railfan is standing, does represent the 4th. Avenue section and the old radio station from the northbound and southbound 4 and 5 trains.
As a kid, growing up in 80's NYC, I was very intrigued by the following tunnels: On the 2/3 line, from 96th to 110th On the 4/5 line, from 138th to 149th & GC On the 2/3/4/5 line, leading into and leaving Franklin avenue. The south ferry loop and the other side of the wall whereas, you could see the 4/5 trains passing by. On the A/B/C/D lines, the tracks between 59th and 125th.
8:23; The underpasses of Nevin Street show a door with many locks indicates the lower level of the station that isn't used for service any longer. Great discovery!

Additionally, on the 6 line, from Cypress to 143rd
In regards to the middle track on the 4 line in the Bronx, why isn't that used as an express route?
What about the part where the tracks from Nevins Street branched off onto the LIRR i would like to know it's history.
Great info!
