I miss seeing The Brothers so much. At one point I was going through bad time....they saved me with their beautiful voices. Ear phones, The Brothers soothed me to a world of peace, serenity, the islands and my deep traditions of Hawaii. Having to leave my home and live on the mainland was so hard, thank God I could bring their music ẃith me.
I've been loving their beautiful voices and music for 27 years now, and only wish I had found them sooner! It was their mele that first taught me Hawaiian words and I can feel their love of Hawaii in the words they sing. Thank goodness they were part of the great music renaissance in reviving Hawaiian music. Hana Hou Robert and Roland and Mahalo for it all! With my aloha always.
This is the closest song I can find to Na Pua by Nathaniel Koani. Both versions are uniquely beautiful in their own right. I love the Hawaiian language songs!
Such a magnificently beautiful mele which can only be enhanced by Robert's amazing vocal versatility and Roland's soaring harmonies. True chicken skin. Hawaiian music at its best, no doubt.
Glad you and your kids had a good time. I am taking my 11-year-old there next month, his first time to the tropics. I lived in Hawaii for a year asa kid in 1967 and it has been a part of me ever since. I am really excited about sharing the Hawaiian experience and hopefully the islands will resonate with him like it did with me so many years ago. But way too much development. All you ever hear there is "we need construction jobs" - in a finite environment, this is not the way to do things.
3 trips to Hawaii. In 2007 with my kids, who were just blown away the way I was on my 1st trip. Builders should look more at the native culture and less at the 21st century for inspiration.

Oh, the harmonies!!! Roland was a brilliant song writer & musician. Miss him.
