She always performed strong characters at a time when it was not the norm. Her performances in Mujhe jeene do, Pyaasa, Teesri kasam and here in Kaala Bazar were noteworthy.
The old school style of cinema you refer to is termed in India as "the dancing around trees style". Indian movies from the 40s to the 70s, had a style of musical where the entire song would be shot in a train/bus/car with the leading man singing to the leading woman, or a man and a woman singing an entire 4 minute duet circling a tree, or a man/woman alone singing in sadness/love wandering aimlessly in a room/house/park/beach/wood/city streets etc. This was a cost effective style of shooting which required catchy/emotional songs with high quality lyrics and good acting by the people featured in the music video to keep the audience engaged, since there were no cool shots or locations or flamboyant costumes to distract the viewer.
That is because the lyrics, words, music was so good that adding multiple edited shots would only take away from the song... not to mention actors and actresses who would probably sing a whole stanza in one shot... Of course this was before "Jhandu Balm ", "TU cheez hai mast mast" and "tere chumme mein chwanprash hai" started passing off as "music".
Guys, please get search about that time's music. The legendary era, please get search about Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar, S.D.Barman , R.D.Barman ,Manna Dey, Mukesh Sahab all are the greatest ever artists of Indian film industry. Not only these but there are many more that you will know about when you search for them.
Finally! Dev Anand is a legend!!! this is just one of his faces. React to 'tere ghar ke saamne' or 'wahan kaun hai tera' or 'main zindagi ka saath nibhaata'
Waheeda's character was stubborn, strong-willed and the catalyst for Dev's change. But unfortunately she had nothing to do in this song. I know her Guru Dutt films are more popular. But just watch her micro expressions as she performs a mujra in Raat bhi hai kuch song from Mujhe Jeene do.
Dev Anand certainly was NOT one of the greatest actors of his times. He was one of the most liked, successful actors and a superstar, an entertainer for sure. If you happen to watch and review any of his movies, you may many a times feel disappointed with his acting skills, but there is a good chance that you will be entertained due to his style and charm. Nice song though.
A Slight Disagreement here.. I was a Skeptic too and was like what do people like about him he's so silly and all but then I watched some of his movies with my mom, and I really started to like his acting and mannerism, sure it's a little exaggerated but it suits those old movies.
Umm ...not so. Dev showed versatility in his roles. His characters were very susceptible to vice and corruption unlike the goody two shoes heroes of that era.The mischievous madman in Funtoosh who wistfully asks "I don't want to die, can I live?" Or the hardened criminal with a vulnerable heart in Bombay ka babu who has to live the rest of his life according to the lies he told and lose the most precious person in his life. Just watch his expressions in the song Din dal jaaye haye from Guide. Don't like that movie but that one song is worth its weight in gold.
Dev Anand would be older than my grandfather. And I know the song and it's music by heart. That's the legacy of great music and legendary voice. Just pure gold

DEV ANAND was the most versatile indian actor of that era. He was intelligent, extremely educated (Master's in English from Punjab University) . what a Gem
One of the most magnificent gems of Hindustan : Rafi Sahab.
Legends come together to create a magic...as s d Burman music, Shailendra lyrics and mohd Rafi ...the man who set benchmark for playback singing ( spb, Sonu Nigam, etc are his devotees)..the expression Rafi gave, many actors didn't give justice to his expression while acting.... While reacting to song, please listen to singers and you can really appreciate their efforts back in those days....give due where it is.....
Stupid guys...
Regards,
Ravindra Kumar hg
Finally you touched, the god of playback singing.......you can pick any song of Mohd Rafi Sahab........an institution itself.
They discovered Mohd Rafi. Wonder they didn't say she's AR Rehman's mother.
Because she isn't.
All Dev Anand songs are gold. Mohd Rafi is an ocean you have not yet explored
Life and love isn't so easy anymore. I would've loved being alive in simpler times and being old by now and frowning on everything the young ones do. 😁😁
U r an old soul?😂
@@swatisaini6447 not sure.. haven't felt the presence of my soul recently.. 😅😅
@@mylie864 😱😄😁
We’ll not get an actor like the legend & the one ☝️ & only Dev Anand🙏🙏🙏
You should listen to more Rafi songs. He in the best Bollywood playback singer of all time.
Both Devanand and Waheed Rehman are legand....Watch Guide you will never like to watch any other actors.....Also Devanand has some of the best Hindi movies (IMO) drama, Thriller, comedy, horror and what not
The song "zindgi...." from Anand is engraved in Korbin's head as every now n then he starts singing it😄😄😄👌👍
Vocals of Mohd Rafi are just fantastic❤

You will forget all the stuff that you have been doing so far.
You guys should watch the remake of this song, “The bartender”. I am not a big fan of remakes but I love this one especially the Video and you’ll see the scenario that you guys were discussing at the end
I second that 👍
Yes that's exceptional
Jazz treatment to the song..
It's my personal favourite to
I remember you did Parda hai Parda reaction as well (the one where Big B is all over the place in Rishi Kapoor's musical performance) and Korbin immediately said I recognize that voice. You make people happy more than you know. Just keep finding about the gem named Rafi, lots of treasure.
This would set the hearts of people like my mother aflutter in their teens
Evergreen Devanand sahab.❤.
The great great voice Mohammad Rafi❤🙏❤
Singing, expressions, voice quality, voice modulation ,harkat, sweetness everything perfect 👌👌👌
Waheeda Rahman the legend 🔥🔥
She always performed strong characters at a time when it was not the norm. Her performances in Mujhe jeene do, Pyaasa, Teesri kasam and here in Kaala Bazar were noteworthy.
He is called evergreen hero. He was leading man from 1946 to 1988. ONE OF THE PILLAR OF OLD TRINITY( DILIP KUMAR, RAJ KAPOOR AND DEV ANAND).
Just to add to that...songs were of very good quality...music, singing and lyrics wise... no wonder we still listen to them
That is because the lyrics, words, music was so good that adding multiple edited shots would only take away from the song... not to mention actors and actresses who would probably sing a whole stanza in one shot... Of course this was before "Jhandu Balm ", "TU cheez hai mast mast" and "tere chumme mein chwanprash hai" started passing off as "music".
He is legend
Everyone loves him
He is my favourite singer
Guys, please get search about that time's music. The legendary era, please get search about Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar, S.D.Barman , R.D.Barman ,Manna Dey, Mukesh Sahab all are the greatest ever artists of Indian film industry. Not only these but there are many more that you will know about when you search for them.
❤️❤️❤️❤️👍
Finally! Dev Anand is a legend!!! this is just one of his faces. React to 'tere ghar ke saamne' or 'wahan kaun hai tera' or 'main zindagi ka saath nibhaata'
was anyone else wondering if Korbin was gonna hit Rick in the face with the remote controller while talking..? Nope? Just me? Ok...
Dev Anand Ji was most handsome, energetic and stylish. Love 🧡 💛 💜 💘 him with always with his unique style.
As great as the male names are, please do find more about Waheeda Rehman, one of the greatest and most beautiful actress of Indian movies.
Court passed an order not to wear a black suit to Dev Anand, because people were crazy about his charm and that's why he got an official notice.
React to kishore kumar classic songs , his yodeling, his sad songs his fun songs anything you will love it.
Ji kyu nhi but rfi sahab ke song sada bahar hai isliye y log bi unko zyada sun rhr honge
Great actor Mr. Dev anand great song.....
Whatever it is, he is my favourite actor.... Most beautiful and sweet...
Me & my dad love Mohd Rafi's songs, we also do perform some of Rafi's songs in singing shows
Asad is doing good job with those notes.
I enjoy these old Hindi song, even more now.
Dev anand was young Charlton Heston look alike
Golden, evergreen bestest greatest ever time period of Indian music 🔥🔥🔝🔝
Dev Anand would be older than my grandfather. And I know the song and it's music by heart.
That's the legacy of great music and legendary voice. Just pure gold
