Mockingbirch Well FOW has done a wonderful job against Rose before. He's been able to take down nearly every other Rose besides Dabuz and even against Dabuz in EVO, he had the man on the run, save for those gimps. FOW wasn't as good then as he is now and the meta is constatnly getting more and more advanced. I'm not going to count out Ness yet. There's still time to wait and see if he can still take out the likes of Rose and Villager. If not, he's still viable against most of the top 5 we have right now

Those gimps are a really big deal, because it means that both players can be on equal footing, but one can get an instant kill for knocking the other offstage. That's huge, and it means that Ness is always going to inherently struggle with some matchups.
Ranai is my favorite Smasher:) He plays Villager so well and skillfully and looks cool while he's doing it and is the reason I started to main Villager. props to FOW though, I don't play Ness but he did a good job.
JustCallMeShwick Maybe Nakat. If you've watched Pink Fresh play he doesn't do anything special that i wouldn't see any other Lucas do. And he Sd's a lot. There just aren't many Lucas players in the competitive scene. It's not that Pink Fresh is necessarily good with Lucas it's that he's the only one who plays him.
Reds Byrd Nakat isn't that good with lucas. And I think Pink's tech is on point. The only thing he needs to work on is SDing less which you said, and I agree.
At 5:40 I would've went for a PK-THUNDER downwards, trying to hit Villager off the side of the map. I know it sounds crazy, but all or nothing might have worked at that unexpected moment.
Mr Instigator Lucas does have a really good combo game mainly due to jab locks but you really need to know how to footstool and such while ness can just down throw you into a fair chain. All of Lucas's throws are kill throws but again ness's backthrow is much stronger and kills way earlier than all of them. Plus all of ness's throws puts the opponent in in more awkward positions than Lucas's throws do. Also while Lucas's up air can be used to kill, Ness's up air is just way better

I believe you can do that, but I doubt most Ness players purposely try to hit with the tail, its more of a lucky accident if that makes any sense. I don't know much about patch notes unfortunately so could you say what exactlly changed?
+OseiTheWarriors i just tested it out. the tail pops BOTH balloons but if villager recovers quickly (holding b while recovering) he gets hit by the tail too and can recover again. you need the utmost precision in order to about that.
okay but the commentary is so skewed against ranai tho, like they read so far into all of FOW's actions (especially early on) but they pretty much acted like ranai had never played a solid ness before. This isn't even accounting for how little they knew about villager's gameplay mechanics but those commentators suck dude
