This dress is so darn cute and that back detail is exciting! THANK YOU so much for being a big part of this event every year. LOVE YOU!!!
Love you back and big hug, you are the beating heart behind this event and we all can't thank you enough :) 7 000 dresses here we goooo :)
I would love to have a dress like that to fit me. I'm a 76 year old woman. Have you ever designed, drafted, and made jumper dresses for teens and women? That beautiful little dress could be worn year round, depending on what is worn underneath it. I can't be a girl again; but, I love the smart, comfortable look of your little girl dresses. I'm never going to get too old for good looking, comfortable, practical dresses with large pockets that can be worn year round.
You are so right - we are never too old too look good and comfortable! I have multiple adult dress drafting tutorials on the channel that can be easily adapted to look like this one. Here's a video that you can use, then simple separate the pattern into side panels and the top bodice and that's it - you will have it done in no time :) ua-cam.com/video/iC0T4jksqz0/v-deo.html
Hi Alisha I was thinking the same thing I would love a dress like this and am in my early forties 😊
Me too! This is such a cheerful dress to transition when changing for medical procedures!
I'd love a grown up version of this too, it's too cute ❤
@@ThoughtfulCreativity I agree with commenter. Would love for you to have options to purchase other sizes/adults teens etc. would love to make “mommy and me” for my daughter and me. But I don’t think I’d be able to figure out tweaking it myself. 💕💕💕
Thank you for being so generous with your free pattern. This is a brilliant idea. It is SO important that we help girls who have very little in their lives.
Such a lovely dress pattern. Thank you for the free pattern for project dress a girl. We appreciate all of your hard work.
It's so cool that you do Dress a Girl! I work with an orphanage in Kenya. My local U.S. church Dress a Girl group made 20 dresses for our girls!
Thanks for adding sleeves. Our director and housemother in Kenya requested dresses with sleeves for modesty sake. Sadly exploitation of disadvantaged children is common. Help keep them safe with modest clothing.😊😊😊
What a cute little dress. I've never heard of the dress a girl project.
I love this dress. I have been waiting for your new creation for our GIRLS. Thank you so much. So cute🥰
Superb! Great tutorial, love your work. Thank you!
Thank you for the new “sleeved” pattern, I’m glad you found time to do this for us makers. I’d love to scale this up for older girls.
Thank you so much for the cute pattern! Love that it can be sewn with smaller pieces! ❤
That was the goal :) those pockets also come together faster than a lot of other styles :) I am so glad you enjoyed it and happy sewing!
Alissa, thank you for your time and dedication to this noble cause. It does not go unnoticed. Just wanted you to know that every year I look forward to sewing your pattern in addition to other patterns that I sew for this project.
❤ I love this new version. 😍 😊 I already made 7. With your version from last year. Thank you for sharing.
Another beautiful dress Alisa. Thank you so much, I can’t wait to get started on my dresses for PDAG 2024. ❤
Thank you for all of your work every year.
I love this pattern, has the little bit of a sleeve and love the back. Just love the dress altoghter.
Love the new pattern ❤
I am so glad!
you always come out with the best patterns .....sooo cute!
Love, love those details of your dress and so practical. Nice way to use scraps and bias strips. You have a beautiful heart 💜
Absolutely love this beautiful colorful dress 👗 you are a real treasure ❤❤❤can’t wait to give it a go. I printed this pattern ❤❤😊
So cute. I've already started cutting out a few dresses, can't wait to start sewing.
That is so wonderful! Thank you for sharing your talents and your heart with others!
You have inspired me!!! I am calling on my online Meetup crafting groups to join in this. I am using all fabric scraps and I am amazed at how creative you can be!!!!!!
Yay! Rebecca, I am so glad! You are so creative and enthusiastic - I am sure you will inspire and gather people around to come together for this cause! You go girl! :)
Super clear instructions and a beautiful pattern! Thank you! ❤
Thank you! 😊
Thank you for this adorable little dress pattern! It looks to be pretty easy, and I love that we can use our smaller remnants and scraps to color-block it! I like your clear instructions and helpful hints as well.
As usual great job.
Thank you, Farah! Great to see you here :)
I have made a few dozen of last year’s dress. This year I’m trying 2024 dress. Was a little challenging but I made one!!! It was my brain not your directions. Thanks for all your hard work ❤
Absolutely adorable!
Thank you so much! I poured my heart and soul into it
Alisa - so awesome!!! What a wonderful opportunity to help a little girl out and lift up her confidence! Thank you as always!!!
Thank you for sharing the patterns you have created for Project Dress a Girl.
Very nice pattern. I just finished my first one‼️Your video really helped me. Thank you for your dedication to this project. 👗
Yay! Great job! I am so happy that it was helpful and thank YOU for participating!
I can't wait to make some dresses for Dress-A-Girl with your pattern! I made several from your pattern last year. Thank you for sharing your talent and making this darling little dress pattern! 💝
Just adorable. thank-you for another wonderful pattern. Some little girls are going to love getting one of the dresses you have designed. I will be using it.
Love the addition to this pattern, dress looks lovely. Thank you for sharing.❤
Alisa, you are amazing! Thank you for this pattern and the clear instructions!! ❤
As always, thank you for your instruction!! You've helped me with my confidence in sewing. Going to try making this dress!! Thank you for the pattern!
Thank you, Alisa! Dress is adorable! Downloaded pattern and I think I should be able to make 3 dresses from my fabric stash.
I like this pattern and your choices of fabric are adorable, they for sure will make a little girl very happy!
After lots of practice, I finally mastered this pattern! So exciting! 22:02
Some little girl will be thrilled!!
I have been waiting for your latest DAG pattern...Alyssa, you never disappoint...I've already printed the pattern...can't wait to make them. And your video is so good! Thanks.
What a wonderful pattern, I just made one to send to Mari (it is so stinking cute)
Sally, that is so wonderful! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thanks Alisa for another gorgeous dress pattern. I can’t wait to get sewing some up for project dress a girl ❤ xx
Thank you SO much! You are so talented, kind and generous! ❤
Thank you Alisa. You are the greatest. You get a lot of suggestions 😌I think it might be cool to have an optional apron and if you designed it even better. We could pop one in a pocket or add belt loops to keep it connected during handling.
Hi there, if you want you can sure add one, here's a tutorial on how to draft and sew an apron - ua-cam.com/video/9yzaKaV2MGM/v-deo.html
I love this new pattern! I think this is the best one yet :-)
Oh my gosh sooo cute!!! 👗 💃 👗!!!!
I am so glad you like it! And.. so many opportunities to add fun trims, colors and more. You can also add a ruffle like in the dress from last year :)
Love this❤ very quick and easy
It is! It goes even faster if you do batch sewing! If you sew one dress at a time, I timed myself - medium pace takes about 1.5 hrs.
Your haircut is so cute!!!!
Thank you! :)
Made a dress today. Thanks so much for your amazing pattern!
Love your patterns for project dress a girl.
Thank you. The dress is beautiful.
This is such a great looking and cheerful dress design !! I would love this pattern!! Dress a sick woman😊challenge! Changing for medical procedures would make this dress easy on and off! The pockets are perfect for holding the cellular phone and identification.
Thank you for pattern and tutorial!
Beautiful. I shall make this for the UK Dress A Girl branch. x
This is super cute. You are talented.
Beautiful! I'd love on in my size!😊
Love this design.
So cute
Can use up so many fabics.
Such a beautiful pattern 🤩
Oh! This is so adorable! I'd love to make for my girl who needs a bigger size. Would you have any tutorials how I could make it bigger size from the exisiting pattern please? Again, thank you so much for such helpful videos. I've watched many of yours and really appreciate them! 😊
We all sew has a tutorial on how to make a boxy gathered top. I think you can use the same tips in that tutorial to adapt a pattern you know fits your girl to make a similar pattern.
Simplicity does have a similar pattern for knits and wovens if you want to buy it in a bigger size.
dr cos has a free dolman shirt pattern that goes to a US 10 if you want to use that as a base instead.
Love this pattern, thank you so much!!❤
Wow! very beautiful! 👏👏
Totally adorable!! I'm inspired.
That is a super cute dress.❤
I love watching you. You explain everything so well. The dress is lovely and I am so glad it has sleeves in. I didnt like the little straps on the dresses last year they all had t shirts underneath. This dress is b y far better.. I have some labels from last year can I use those or do I need to buy more this year. Thanks xx
This dress is somehow cuter than last years. I already made one with remnants of fabric. I just needed a little girl to try it out on. Hoping to make several for this year’s champagne. I know this is a big ask but is there anyway to enlarge it for the older girls?
Très joli modèle bravo ❤
Lovely dresses ❤
Shared this on my facebook page!
Gorgeous
What a cute pattern, and how gracious of you to offer it for free! The pockets make it a winner, in my book. I've made several outfits for friends and family, and though I love the cute prints on cotton/cotton blend fabrics, I hate how they come out of the wash. They look a little sad until they're ironed. It seems that knits styles would be better suited for charity. I'm wondering if the subject has been brought up by others?
Hello there! The questions has been brought up, and more information on it is provided in the blog post that is linked in the description of this video. Knits, van be used, but only for a bodice, and they are not as durable as woven fabrics for the circumstances in which these dresses will be used, especially in the countries where they wash clothes on the rocks, in the rivers and such. Just give your cotton wovens a nice press before you cut out the pattern and as you sew - that will do the trick :)
Count me in ❤👍😊
Yay! Thank you!
Thank you ❤
Unfortunately there's no Dress a Girl in my counrty and shipping costs would be through the roof for me. But I'm going to make one for my niece who mainly gets to wear hand-me-downs. I'm 5 months pregnant myself and can't wait to sew for my little girl with your tutorials 💕
Just finished my first using your pattern! My goal is to make 4 or 5 with the materials that are in my stash.
Oh, it's back!!!!! YAy!!!!!!!!
Can you give follow up suggestions or maybe do a follow up video for this cause on how to make larger size dresses? I know the older girls, I recall hearing up to size 12, need dresses too. I am new to garment making so the more detailed the better for me. I am participating for the first time but know if we all make this size several others will miss out
Love your pattern! I had a little problem getting the bias to sew nicely in the back curves so I wound up putting a bow on it. I’m thinking this sweet little dress can be reversible, front or back.
Me too!!
I love this dress pattern!! Can u make it in adult size PLEASE!!!!
What a cute dress! I like the back detail and wonder if, since the only measurement difference between the front and back is how the neckline is cut, could the dress be worn backwards and still look right? If not, would it take much pattern changing to put the detail in front? I'm part of a sewing group in Appleton, WI that sews for Dress-a-Girl year 'round. I'd love to be able to buy that pattern in the range of sizes from about 4 thru teens. It would be a nice change from making peasant dresses.
About the neckline - my goal was to draft a neckline that can slip over the head easily (even if the little dress has hair braided) without closures and ties. But I also wanted to have a modest neckline that isn't too wide, so that's why I made the little detail in the back. The primary function of it is to provide a "slit" for a neckline that can slip on. If I put this detail in the front, the neckline needs to be more shallow and that won't give enough circumference of the neckline to be pull-on. Edited to add: I will try to make this pattern multi-size for next year :) thank you for all your help and sharing your skills, your time and your heart with those in need!
@@ThoughtfulCreativity Thank you for your explanation on the neck detail being in back. It is tricky to create a slip on garment that does not use elastic or stretch fabric and also without making the neck line too low or too wide. You did a great job with this dress! If you make this pattern multi-size, not only will I be thrilled, but so will all the ladies in the Appleton, WI Dress-a-Girl sewing circle. I will be sure to send you photos of dresses we make from your pattern.
Hi and thanks for this new pattern to bless girls in need! I wonder if you have the tutorial to make patterns for kids. I was looking on your playlist and I don’t see it. Thanks!
Deanna, hello there, I actually have a full new channel about it - www.youtube.com/@Sew.and.Grow.
Alisa, I made 11 dresses last year using your pattern and just finished one using the new pattern, but I need some advice. My neckline is basically flopping outword a bit. For dress #2, what do I have to do to make sure the neckline turns out flat? Thank you soooo much for sharing your talent and love of sewing with us!
God Bless.
Let's see, 2 things that come to mind at first are 1) you might be stretching out the neckline as you're working on the dress - in that case, stay stitch the neckline before working on the pattern. 2) you might be stretching the bias tape as you sew. Simple hold the bias tape in your fingers as you apply it to the neckline and mold it to the curves. I would need to see what exactly is going on to give more precise advice, but this should do for a quick fix. Thank you so much for all your help and the beautiful dresses for PDAG! :) P.s. - at times a good press with steam can remedy small things like that :)
Question: If I wanted to make this dress a bit larger (not necessarily longer), how would the best way to do it be? I'd love to make it for my grand daughter but I think it might be a bit small. BTW I made several of your patterns for PDAG this year! Been having a blast doing it.
I wd like to help with project dress a girl. Does the fabric need to be washed before sewing it? Can a cotton/poly blend be used?
Alyssa, can the pattern be done for women ? It is so pretty I want one !!!
Can you put all your dress a girl free dress videos in one play list? Thx
Hello there, I will for sure, in the meantime they are all listed in the description of this video :)
I am having trouble getting the bias tape to stay flat (and not bunch) around the curve of the bodice back seam. Is there any way that you could provide tips or video highlights on how you got your to lie so flat? I am getting so frustrated with this one part. Sorry - I am an intermediate beginner.
@thoughtfulcreativity , Please explain for me what to attach the second ruffle at hemline to on your 2023 PDAG pattern. Do you sew it midway on the backside of the first ruffle?? Do you make the lower ruffle wider then attach both in the same seam??? Process, please. 🙏
Thank you in advance.
Helen
One ruffle is bigger than the other, put them together and sew them together to the hem of the dress.
If you do not cut the through the fold on the back piece, will it still pull on over the head?
Oh my goodness, I love the Top you're wearing at 6:02 do you have a pattern for that. Its so lovely😍
Yes :) and a full Members Extra that goes with it and a "Project at a glance" PDF for Members on Google Drive that has all of the links :) here's the original video for this top - ua-cam.com/video/RN9lYXvq5qA/v-deo.html
And here's the Members Extra for it, I hope you will enjoy it - ua-cam.com/video/d1fmqFVGtFA/v-deo.html
Thank you for designing these little dresses. They are all so cute every year. I'm makingvProject Dress a Girl dresses this year for the first time and have downloaded all of your dress patterns so far. But I was wondering about the tee shirt dress. Are we allowed to use jersey? That would be so nice if we were, because it is so much easier to fit over the head if we can even include a few jersey elements, but I've always only seen woven dresses spoken about for this charity. I'm going to use a combination of last year's dress and this year's dress to draft a couple of sizes bigger, since I'm finding it difficult to find any tween size patterns that fit the description.
The link in the description of this video, a blog post from Mari, has the information needed about using jersey :)
@@ThoughtfulCreativity ok. Thanks.
Hi. I want to stitch the dress and donate. But Iam not able to print the pattern as I have normal printer. So can you please tell me another alternative way for this?
How about making the back a bit bigger, and adding an elastic detail so that the dress grows a bit with the girl?
💕💕💕💕💕
Good evening: You inspired me to do dress a girl. But I need the pattern. How can I get it. I already have a design in my head.
that's great! The pattern link is in the description of this video.
Is there a same pattern is for sale? So that I can buy and stitch for the noble cause.
Is there a pattern that doesn't have those weird side panels and maybe no bias tape? Bias tape and I don't get along.
You can use any pattern that you have or purchase that adheres to Dress A Girl guidelines.
Why wouldn’t the pillow case dresses get donated?
Can you please do a elastic waist pleated skirt for a child and show in detail steps how to make it, I hv to make one for a child for next week Thursday please help ,thanks it important please hope u reply 😔
