Thank you so much for demonstration! Your work is amazing!!! I like the technique of Old masters. For me painting became a hobby I never studied in any art school so it’s a big pleasure for me that I discovered your channel and can study with a great teacher 😊🥳
I've been painting since I was a teenager, and you just helped me understand a concept I've struggled with understanding for years even after taking a wealth of art classes in college and private lessons afterward. Thank you SO MUCH! And you're an INCREDIBLE artist. It is quite beautiful to see someone painting in the exquisite Dutch/Flemish style, which is my favorite. I hope this channel blows up and you get a huge following! You deserve such recognition!!!!!!!!
I love painting in layers. Thanks so much for this tutorial. The dead layer could be challenging If you don’t have the right values. At what point in the painting do you pay more attention to the edge of the flower and the background? Your book is an excellent addition to my library. I find your videos very educational full of great inspiration. Looking forward to more videos. Greetings from Champaign, Illinois, USA. Blessings and take care.
Thank you ! I fact I pay attention to the outer edeges right from begining.I'm always trying to blend all the hard edges with dry brush to make myself sure there are no hard edges at all.
There is a popular misconception that Flemish painters used grisaille. Though some painters from the area that may have used this technique, the artists we associate with “Flemish” technique, such as van eyck, would not have used grisaille, as it would reduce reflectivity of the panels. The techniques described in this video are northern Italian in origin. Just needed to clarify this:)
I have a lint-free microfiber cloth, which is actually meant for cars. After I wipe off the oil with a sponge, I use the cloth to clean up afterward. However, every now and then, I need to replace the sponge, so I keep several on hand. When I notice the sponge isn’t working as well as it should, I just grab a fresh one.
Exceptional Grisaille Underpainting. Makes me feel good to see that other artists appreciate the Flemish Masters. Thank you👏👍😃

When you speak about durability, best avoid acrylic painting ground, this could later cause cracks in the paint.
how you clean the make up sponge you wiped off exceess oil by it ?
