      How is the propane generator working for you? Did u get the baja? I've been looking at the propane generators as well.

      @@sarahsmith4617 I did have the Baja propane generator but it quit working after about 1 month of use. Home Depot returned it for full refund. Couldn’t find anyone with in 200 miles of where I live to repair it under warranty. I think I just got a bad one. They have good reviews. Kinda load compared to my Honda and used about the same fuel.

    I have the smaller 4a\15a model. I love the app to let you see what it's doing and the charging history. I bought some 6v Duracells a couple of years ago.. but have switched to BB Lithiums. So now they sit. I wish it would charge 6 volt.

    I purchased the IP22 and it ran really hot on 30 amps and not able to even hold unit. I contacted Victron and they said it was normal to get hot! What a Joke! Here is the review I left on Amazon: I was surprised when I touched the case and it was too hot to pick up while running at the rated 30 amps. It was actually 134F or 55C and no electronic item should be this hot ever and poses a risk for fire. Upon inspection there is a tiny mini fan (40mmx10mm) inside near the center and it blows air on to a transformer next to it and that is it. The fan basically does nothing. I could feel no air flow exiting or blowing around the unit. There is a cover on the back end and when I removed it for inspection I noticed a place where a fan was designed to be installed but none existed. How could a manufacture with a high end name like Victron let this happen. I think they wanted to make the IP22 as quiet as possible, hence the mini fan located inside mid center but they forfeited cooling when they took the rear fan option away and slapped a cover over it. I had to submit a technical support request form and I am waiting for Victron to get back to me. I will update this when they do. I also went to the Victron community forum where multiple people were complaining for quite sometime about the heating issue and it appeared to me that Victron never acknowledged the problem. We shall see. Update: Here is Victron's response: "Depending on models, there is a fan on the side of the unit while others are left blank. Victron has said that these units will heat up when in operation, and there should be no cause for concern. The units do have overheat protection on them." End Quote. Anyone who works with electronics knows that the enemy of electronics is heat and for the IP22 to get so hot as not able to hold unit in your hands is unacceptable. I will never buy Victron again. Meanwhile I have added to more fans to the unit. I added one fan in the space provided on the back end side, just removed cover that covered up where the fan should of been. I also made a hole in the cover and added a fan so the fan on the cover would blow air in and the fan on the back end would blow the air out. I wired in parallel with the internal mid centered fan. Now runs about 15 degrees cooler. Shame on Victron!

    I'm sure you're aware, but Honda has made a new gas generator that's quieter than even a propane generator. It may be worth looking into.

    That charger ok for smaller battery. that 300ah from 0 to 100% will take over 10 hours. they about 90% effect. now 2 will be 600Ah total .looking at over 24Hr charge time . may be best 2 use more than one charger to bring 2 300Ah up.

    Thanks for your review, could you help me I have brought a 3 output unit but the back has only one black input with 3 red inputs. Am I suppose to join the blacks all together on a busbar ?
    Also now I have this smart charger can I leave it on all the time ? as my old one I had to manually turn off after 8 hours. Thanks

    A few questions. Can you clarify the battery type setting? It appears you are using li-ion which is not the same battery type as LifePo4. Unless this charger considers them to be the same. And what is 'Normal' by their definition? Perhaps normal is LifePo4?? Does the manual state what the limits are for each stage for each battery type.

      Originally I was using the lithium ion setting, but that was my ignorance on first use. The charger does have a LiFePO4 setting which I use now. 14.2 is the bulk/absorption charge, and 13.5 float. It works perfectly, and is very efficient. 🤙

    Trying to decide on this charger for trailer camper build,
    2 Questions please, on the IP22 in expert mode using Victron connect if you set up the profile for life P04, And you don't have a phone signal later you can use bluetooth to operate the charger?
    If by chance once the profile is set up on the charger and you don't have your phone if you turn the charger on connect it to your life PO4 for batteries it goes to the lithium-ion will it be using your profile for charging automatically.? My campsite is remote and I may have to use a small generator to charge with also..

    Nice review. I use a lot of Victron equipment due to its quality and adaptability and really like the brand. However, I have some issues with this charger.
    It seems that the charger reduces its output current to about half power when it warms up to an operating temperature of over 35C(95F). I have the 24V 16A version, to charge my 24V LiFePo4 battery and after about 15 mins it reduces the output from 16A to 9A. I believe this reduction is related to regulating the temperature of the charger. I've measured the case temperature at 43C(110F) after about 15 minutes when its in reduced current mode. The charger starts at room temperature of 22C (72F). It's nearly silent, but I've been disappointed in the output after it warms up.

      Appreciate your feedback on the charger. I haven't noticed it reducing the current here...pretty much runs 30 amps until it's finishing up the charge. Otherwise, it's constant. But now that you mentioned it, I will keep a close eye on it. aloha 🤙

    Just installed this charger today. It really gets hot. Does your get really hot. So hot that you can't touch it more than a few seconds. Also I noticed the battery monitor actually went down in percentage as apposed to going up in percentage. Feel like there is something wrong.

      They do run hot. It got my attention as well. General consensus from many is that they just run hot. Heat on mine stays on the shell of the unit itself and does not create any heat away from the charger. No heat in my cables. Other chargers I have run hot on the shell as well. Not sure why you are not seeing battery voltage go up though. How long did you run it? 🤙

    Thanks for this video, it's really helpful. Two questions: I have the 3 output version of this charger & couldn't find the recommendation about the cable size you mentioned in the documentation I have & would like to find that - any ideas? Also, I read that the charger should be placed as far away from the batteries as possible in the manual ( in the Charger Location section) - do you have any thoughts about this with regard to Lithium Ion batteries? Thanks again!

      Aloha and thank's for tuning in. 6awg was recommended on my single output charger, and in my most recent videos you can see I wall mounted the charger away from everything as it does run hotter than I would've expected. Personally, I don't want it close to my LiFePO4 batteries for that reason. Hope this helps, and stay in touch...plenty of very knowledgeable people participating in these conversations, which is helping me tremendously 🤙

      @@dr.jukoholiday2399 Sure. I'm actually running it right now, and monitoring how it's behaving in it's new position. Although the units body I'd quite warm, the wall its mounted on is not warm at all. I think just don't have it directly touching anything is fine. Give it some breathing room. Cranking out 30 amps into the Lifepo4, no problem. 🤙

    How many batteries are you charging?
    Are you charging in parallel or one at a time?
    Victron ip22 does come in 3 terminals for charging 3 batteries

      You're quite welcome, glad it helped you. I don't use it often, but when I do I love 30 amps continuous so I don't have to run the generator very much. Using an old Honda 2000 inverter series. It works well for the Victron charger. Aloha 🤙

    Thanks for the video! Are you able to plug this charger into a standard house outlet? I’ve received some conflicting info about 30A being too much for a standard house plug but this seems to be equipped with one! Seems like a fantastic product!

      Hey, thank you for tuning in! I currently run it off a 2000 watt generator with no problem. I have seen others run it off their house power, no problem mentioned..I suppose it does depend on your circuits.. I really don't know the answer to that 🤙

      This unit draws 15 amps at 120V and puts out 30 amps at 12v, there is no issue with 30 amps being drawn on house current.

      Evan, The 30A, you read, is the OUTPUT Of the charger not the consumption of the charging device. As Michael, mentioned, the INPUT 110V AC is 15A. You are safe and you may continue charging all your LiFePo4 batteries safely. I’m sure, by this time you’d have understood fact. Cheers.

      30 amps times 12 volts equals 360 watts.
      360 watts divided by 120 volts equals 3 amps required at 120 volts plus any power to run the charger. In conclusion the charger should require less than 4 amps from the 120 volt 15 amp circuit.

    I bought one last week and was surprised to find it has no LiFePo4 charging profile ! Did you choose the Lithium Ion profile and then make advanced settings? I have searched and searched the internet and cannot find settings for 80% anywhere. I will just have to figure it out for myself over time, but I was expecting Victron to have a LiFePo4 setting !

    You mentioned that this power supply has a cooling fan does your actually have a cooling fan? I just purchased one of these power supply and mine does not have a fan and it gets very hot while running at 30 amps the temperature gets up to 137 degrees F.

      Runs hot to touch, but never a problem. No, no fan as I thought originally when I was certain I heard one. Just dissipates heat. Works fantastic, but yeah, hotter than you would think. aloha 🤙

    Hello, I am wanting to run a SOK 200ah through a sine wave to power my furnace in case of power outage. My questions when charging battery, would i need to remove the battery from the sinewave inverter before charging or can it it charge safely still hooked up to the inverter? Seems like it would be a pain to have to unscrew the sinewave connectors and then hook the charger connectors up? Also, is it possible to charge while the battery is being used through the sinewave inverter?

      I can charge the batteries without disconnecting anything. I have the charger connected to the bus bars. I've made a couple videos showing how I've done it, plus many other's to view out there from many other systems....🤙

    I see you are looking to have a battery bank of 600AH. I have a bank of 720AH. I am looking at this charger. I understand that it would take 24 hrs to totally charger from 0 percent. But i am like you, just need a top charger because of winter low light days. What do you think? should i go bigger on the charger. I didnt want too because it would not be used often. Plus i cannot put in more 40AH charge, max charge input.

      For me the 30 amp charger is just fine. I watch my system closely, and only supplement to keep my battery bank in the sweet spot between 80%-25%. I don't need it to often, but in the darker, wetter winter months even if I just run it a few hours it bumps it up perfectly. I would think given your 40amp max ability, this would be just fine.     I have in my RV 2 300AH lithium batteries by Ampere Time. Overnight I drain down to 20%. How many hrs should I run my gen the next day to recharge them? My converter is a renogy 50a for
    Lithium batteries.

    I got this charger today (but with 3 outputs) and when the batteries (2x 12v 140ah in parallel) are charging the charger makes a disturbing kinda loud humming noise. As the battery charges up the noise reduces. It doesnt get very hot but i didnt expect that noise from a premium charger like Victron. Im wondering if i need to send it back but the store i got it from says they may need to send it to Victron which means i will be without a charger for at least two weeks which is not ok. Anyone else with same expirience on that noise ?

      Hi there! I got a 24V 16A Victron charger and it has this annoying humming sound too. Plus it gets really hot. At some stage I can hear a fan turning on and off for a while. Also considering sending it back... Cheers from Germany

      @@sukrambo1794 Hello, after some use i noticed mine gets really hot too when it works at full amps (30) but i did a lot of research and it appears the humming noise and the fact that gets hot is okey. Even from Victron they told me that its normal that humming noise and yes the inner fan kicks in from time to time. I screwed mine on rubber pieces so the noise decreased a lot.

    In home, I have 400w solar panels, one MPPT 100/20, one Inverter 12/250 and I need an automatic charger when the solar panels do not reach the necessary current. Can I use a permanently connected Victron charger when the voltage drops below X volts it start to charge till X volts? Because in the next day, I need to have battery space if I have energy production... ??? Can you help me?

      That's basically how I use my charger. I watch my system and usage/solar input close enough to know when I'm going to need the extra charge. In some of my other video's, I show how I permanently mounted and connected it into my system. It works well. 🤙

      You could invest in a good DC-DC charger that automatically switches from alternator to solar when it's available. I use a Redarc BCDC1240D, an Australian-made unit which has built-in MPPT and is also perfect for Lithium batteries. This model is a 40amp charger, but there are 25 amp and 50 amp models available too. I'm very happy with the quality. I also love Victron, but I'm not familar with their DC-DC chargers.

    I don’t see a fan in mine.
    Mine gets untouchable 🔥 hot
    I don’t like having to use a fan on it but I have no choice.
    Specifications states:
    Operating temp. range -40 to +60 °C (full rated output up to 40 °C). -40° Fahrenheit to 140° Fahrenheit. Rated output: 104°F
    Efficiency 93 % 🤔 ? At those temperatures?

      I thought I had a fan, very difficult to see, but I don't think it does. On initial review it sure looked like a fan in the back, even thought I could hear one. It runs well, but hot here too 🤙

      Not knowing exactly what you're charging, I really don't know. But it is a quality charger for most type of batteries. 🤙

    O you got to be so hard over that charger. I am over mine. I have 2 Progressive Dynamics 24 VOLT 40 AMP units plus the 105 AMP charger that is in my SAMLEX Inverter/Charger for a total of 185 AMPS at 24 VOLTS to charge my 6 batteries I got from Big Battery. I have a 24 VOLT pack at 1206AH.

      Try multiply the v × ah = w. If you have 12v * 30ah = 360w

      @@luisdemoraisecastrosimaole380 sorry but I was trying to quantify the loss in efficiency of the charger, 360 is the theoretical value which doesn’t account for efficiency loss. It will take more input than 360.

      “NOT SURE”. Please read my comments above . Before that, please understand Li-ion and LeFePo4 chemistries are entirely different. Li-ion cell default voltage is 3.7V DC. LiFePo4 cell default voltage is 3.20 DC. These voltages are before charging. When fully charged the voltage will be 4.20VDC and 3.65V DC respectively.
      Do not mix or charge above the specified parameters. Use VICTRON chargers at any time. They are safe and quite relatable and expensive. You will need to configure the parameters. Cheers.

      Most lifepo4 users stay below 3,65. 3,5v will give you 99% of the capacity. The idea is you stress the battery less, increasing its lifespan. The 3,2 nominal value is just for convenience. So its easy to calculate. Thats what nominal is for. Batteries operate both above and below nominal 12,8v. At 12,8 most of my lifepo capacity is gone and im close to panic lol.

    Great video, thank you. Based on your experience so far, can you help me with my setup (future). Anyone lese can comment too.
    We have a big Class A motorhome and we are going with (4) 300Ah lithium batteries wired in parallel for the total of 1,200Ah. These are the items I think that we need:
    1.) DC to DC chargers (2) at 60Amps each; total 120. My alternator is 320Amp so I think I should be fine with that. This should charge the batteries while I am driving. Correct?
    2.) Vitron Orion Tr Smart 12/12/30Amp charger with low temp sensor; I should plug this into 110v outlet in my coach to charge the batteries while plugged into the shore power or while running my generator (12.5KW Onan)? I feel that 30Amp charger and battery monitor should be ok for shore power. My cable for shore power is 50Amp.
    3.) Cut-off switch - to cut power to the batteries when the temp drops bellow 35 degrees to prevent battery damage.
    Do you see anything else that I am missing? Thanks again.

I was hoping someone more knowledgeable about your system would chime in for some suggestions for you, but as nice as it sounds, it's above my pay grade. I'm not that familiar with r.v. style charging so really don't have much to offer for what you need.       Any update on your questions? I am considering the same set up for my 95 VW Eurovan. Am I wondering if I connect my van to shore power then plug this unit a 110 outlet within my van, will this work to charge my 100Ah lithium battery and still use everything within van at the same time

      From what I have been reading, charging lithium with a vehicle alternator will burn up the alternator. Subscribe to some of the RV diy solar and boon docking sites to find out more.

      @@ericsheler3905 that is the purpose of the dc to dc charger. It will limit the output although in this case I think two at 60 amps is too much for the alternator.

      I think you are going to be pulling too much on your alternator, just my opinion.
      Why no solar? You are going to have to drive for 12 hours to charge your batteries, solar is way cheaper than your fuel costs.

      Just because it doesn't suit your needs doesn't mean it's too expensive. Be less poor then it won't matter how much it costs

      Price Gouging? That's a rough statement. Yes, they are expensive, but the quality is almost second-to-none. The Chinese are the ones doing the price gouging, when you consider the quality of their products.

      @@777Scottman literally bought one of these yesterday because the cheap (unbranded) mains charger I bought blew up. Victron ate expensive but so far worth the expense
