I still have my 99’ Firebird trans am (red WS6). Feels like I purchased it yesterday! Only 82k miles and runs like new. Greatest car ever!!!

I had a red 96 T/A 6sp. That LT-1 was pretty good. 285hp doesn't seem like much, but that car moved out. It had 9800 miles when i got it. The LS-1 had 305hp standard. When I seen the 98's come out, I was blown away. I never did get one. The LS-1 Firebirds are still on my list of cars I would like to have. Love these videos!

Stock Ls1 output on fbody is the same as 97 corvette. An Ls1 in the fbodies was purposely underrated by GM. Can't have their halo car eclipsed by anything else. See GNX, Typhoon and Cyclone. LS1 puts out 345 at flywheel on normal applications, Z06 vette obviously is different.

Beautiful!! Had this exact same car back in 01 when I bought it new! These things are insanely fast even in stock form. I could only imagine when these have slight mods nothing to crazy.

Great video Nick! Yeah I have a 2001 Camaro SS with 44k miles on it, 6speed black with red SS trimming in mint condition and that bad boy is super fast. Mods or not, it's one bad boy ahead of it's time, the 4th gen. 😎 Keeping mine forever. Lol
Great year and price point isn’t too out of reach for an LS car
Turn signal / running light housing tend to crack from the heat then fill up with water. Seal the top and drill two holes in the bottom for drainage or replace the housing. Mine was the front right passenger side.
Yep I had the same problem on my 98 until I switched over to led bulbs with less heat.
Yup mine did as well, replaced housings with Depo replacements, drilled drainage hole, switched to Led bulbs. 6 years later no issues in the Midwest,
@@98wytebirdBased on my research in the LS1 forums, I found that solution is the best. 6 years later zero issues.
Nice car. I think I hear some rear diff whine. Probably needs a rear gear oil change. And while in there, add some 3.73s!
I heard it too. That shift kit is probably causing the gears to go bad. Then the trans.
I still have my 98, second owner, extensive mods, very fun cars in stock form but it's amazing what suspension and engine mods will do to this car T tops of course. Subframe connectors (weld in) help as well. Rear end is the weak link in these so either swap it out for a Ford 8.8 or a 9". I'm going with the Ford 8.8 when the time comes. And watch out for cold solder joints for bcm as well as weak window motors which plagued numerous GM vehicles of the era. Otherwise once you get past the shoddy interiors and junk rear ends, these are great cars.
And do yourself a favor and upgrade to lmc headlights and a decent hid kit. Get yourself led flasher for hazards and turn signals and upgrade to led bulbs for everything. Either that or go through blackbird for hid headlights. Stock headlights are horrible.
That T/A looks & sounds great. I wouldn't mind having it.

Get a quality reproduction bolt on one. Way cheaper than a factory ws6 hood and lighter.

Nice would be better if it was a WS6 ramair but love it..Bet it's got a 3.42 factory gear also great no door panel cracks most all do my 02 WS6 has the door panel cracks still love it..The sail panel bubbles cause the factory used cheap glue ,I'm got the carbon fiber one it looks great no issues now..Wow is that a GN in the back nice 86 or 87?. Anyway you can get a factory Ramair hood but now they're going for $3,800 or more if it's a factory one thanks too Jay Leno..That TA will sell super quick I mean quick.

Wish I could find a clean one or Z28. Many have been abused hard. I have a neighbor 2 miles up the road that won't sell their 96 Z28 T-top... just waisting in the back yard. It's 6spd too. 🤬

@@tommilitello198Bought my 98 with 97k back in 2016 for 6k. Definitely possible. But I couldn't touch a beat one for that price these days. I lucked out being only second owner. Completely unmodified when I bought it. Old lady that owned it passed away and the family didn't want her 16 year old grandson to have it as his first car. Can't blame them I was 17 when the LS1 fbody debuted and I would have gotten into trouble or worse.

I have a 2000 Formula with 3500 miles on it. That’s not a typo, 3500. It’s never seen rain or snow. Never been in an accident. Looks like it’s right off the showroom floor. How much do you think it’s worth?
at auctions most all these cars are bringing $15-20k under 100k miles
