    Zeiss, Leica and Swarovski all
Manufacturer their own glass and each make top tier glass. Leica has made camera lense glass for years.

Pretty sure Swarovski doesn’t have “first pick from major manufacturers” I’d imagine all their glass comes from the Swarovski crystal factory. That’s why their symbol used to be the crystal with Swarovski in it (like the old habichts)

Are all El similar if I'm looking at secondhand binos... Or over the years were there several versions of the el's?
I'm looking at finders on eBay and I'm wondering if they're all the same

I would like to ask which binocular has sharper picture - Leica Noctivid 10x42 or Swarovski EL 10x42?

They are both really close in clarity. The image is just as sharp most the way out. I feel the EL has a little better edge clarity. But I’m talking about maybe the last 5% of the glass. They both have a little different color transmission to the eye and I have found that to be a personal preference thing.

@@rogueoutdoorshtkstw Thank you very much for your reply. I would like to buy one of these. I was interested in the Leica Noctivid because Optica Exotica said in the video that the Noctivid is sharper in the center of the field of view than the EL and NL and sold the NL to buy the Noctivid.

Best binoculars are the ZEISS SF 8x42/10x42. You cant beat ZEISS. Edge to edge sharpness is not enough. The rolling ball of EL is really annoying.

Zeiss Sf using you have less tremble thanks It s ergonomie, but Zeiss give a different image a little less intense sharpness but is amazing is bigger field of view. In EU the EL cost about 650$ $ cheaper and is very cheaper if you consider his wonderfully colours and sharpness, 90% of the Swiss hunters have Svarovski today....Zeiss is looking also less robust maybe.

Don't get me wrong, you make some valid points about some of the strengths of the EL. However, if you truly believe they're the best binoculars that one can buy, then you are telling everyone how inexperienced you are with binoculars.

I have come to fine that binoculars are a very person specific thing. Lots of people love the Maven binos, but I get a bad headache within about 1 minute of using them. That obviously can’t happen to the majority of people that use them and support them, but that is how it is for me. Out of everything I have used up to this point I feel the EL is what is best for me, my eyes, and my use. However I do not dispute there may be something better for someone else and I’m always willing to try something new/different. What would you recommend I look at if I want the best?

Part of my comment about the inexperience was just humor. To answer your question though, the Zeiss Victory SF is a much better binocular. They are neck-and-neck on image sharpness, but the SF has a noticeably wider field of view, a far superior focus wheel, and superior ergonomics. Swarovski's own NL Pure also beats the EL in each of these categories.
As you mentioned, there are some things to like about the EL, including image sharpness, and I do like the ergonomics (like the SF better though). However, they have significant flaws. They have a below-average focus wheel and do not snap into focus like the SF or NL Pure. The EL also has significant rolling ball effect that gives many of its users motion sickness. They do have world-class glass, but at their price point, there are much better options. If one compares the EL side-by-side to the SF or NL Pure, then the flaws will become apparent.

I appreciate the advice. I will see if I can get a pair to test for myself and see what I find! I love looking at and having awesome gear, so who knows, the SF may be next!

@@leemencacci3420I haven't tried the sf in my hands yet, I have seen videos and images and sometimes it looks way too greeny colour?? Also the eye cups look cheaper, and overall a bit cheaper. It's also very big binocular. Swarovski got better repair service too, but I do want to try the sf to see how it performs.

You said in the video that there are no other binoculars that are as sharp to the edge as the Swarovski. You forgot the Nikon EDG, which is just as sharp to the edge..

Personally when testing them I found the Swaro’s to be more clear and felt there was still a little distortion with the Nikons. But each persons eyes are different and that may not be how they look to you. I have a lot of friends that use Maven Binos and love them, but for some reason I get a headache within about a minute of glassing through the Mavens.

I had Zeiss Victory SF 10x42 and I didn't like that the image had a green tone and I bought Swarovski EL 10x42 but now I know that SF was much clearer and sharper and had much better resolution. EL has perfect mechanical quality but not optical..
