    Hi Daniel!
    I really like your new aquarium with the orange background. Great set up and plants. I love Neocaridina shrimp, I have two aquariums dedicated to them. I do not use heating water for this species, I keep them at room temperature at home and I have noticed that their life is lengthened a lot. On the other hand, they are small crustaceans from China and live at even low temperatures. I like your Blues

      I wish I could do without a heater but it gets too cold here especially at night and during the winter.

    Why the heck haven’t we done an orange background before….for heaven’s sake that’s brilliant Daniel🔥🔥🔥
    looks beautiful and always great ideas….those blue kids certainly do look amazing In there and so does the driftwood “Tree”

      Haha... don't think it's the colour that immediately springs to mind. Don't think I've seen anyone else do it but that's the second one I've done orange and can be really effective depending what you put in it. Thanks for saying you think it looks cool.
      Think you guys should definitely consider a shrimp tank for your rack. Honestly I spend lots of time in front of my shrimp tanks, sometimes more that in front of the other tanks. Fascinating little guys so they are. I'll be looking forward to the next tank on the rank. Whatever you decide on I know it will be something cool and well executed.
      Take care boys. 👍

    Dear Daniel:
    Yes, I was doubtful about the orange background, until I realized your shrimp are the complimentary color. They truly stand out, wonderfully. I hope to get some “blue dream” or “blue jelly” Neocaridina davidi, at some point.
    Thank you for sharing this, entertaining and informative video. I really enjoyed it.

      I'm quite near Glasgow so it's called Fishkeeper Scotland now. Maidenhead Aquatics confused people up here seemingly. You're right but they're the only big box pets shops up here. We have a shop called the Range. Don't know if you have one where you are but they tend to have a pet section for basic stuff. Sometimes can get a wee deal in there especially on their bog wood.

    Daniel that was very interesting, I love the blue shrimps I just have the red ones. Guppy crass I have a love-hate relationship it grows so quick and dense. The problem with a heavily planted tank is the shrimp find it easy to hide. It is only when you remove the plants are you see how many shrimp you have they do brees so well. I enjoyed this.

    • @DanielKeepingFish
      @DanielKeepingFish  2 роки тому

      Yes I get what you're saying about the Guppy Grass mate. We all have our own opinions I guess. I like it because it grows quick and dense. Means the shrimp have loads to explore and feel secure in and we can trim it however we want but if we mess it up it doesn't take long for it to grow in again. It can hide the shrimp which would be a problem if you only have a few right enough but once they start breeding in greater numbers it doesn't matter quite so much hey.

    What a great video and YES the orange background is perfect for the blue shrimp. One rather silly question, I've just bought Almond leaves for the first time, rather than the small leaves you used, can I just cut up the bigger ones as I just want small bits in my Nano? Having never used them before I suppose it's okay? I've only just come across your channel but I'll be watching now and catching up on what I've been missing.

    • @DanielKeepingFish
      @DanielKeepingFish  2 роки тому

      For sure! As a rough guide we say one full leaf (what I think you probably have) per ten gallons so hopefully that'll help you judge how much to put in. Yeah you can tare or cut them to the size you need no worries at all. Usually when one begins to visibly degrade is when I add another.
      Thanks for your kind comment about the background too. May not be to everyone's taste but I think it looks pretty ace. Glad you liked it too.

    • @DanielKeepingFish
      @DanielKeepingFish  2 роки тому +1

      It'll be the 24 but I have used a 19litre in the past for a small shrimp tank. You can get a nice wee colony going in either.
      I did reinforce underneath the cabinet for this one just in case. It's still quite heavy even though it is a smaller aquarium.

    • @DanielKeepingFish
      @DanielKeepingFish  Рік тому +1

      Hi there. So shrimp don't have much of a bio load being so small unless you have many of them. Every shrimp keeper will do different and it will rely somewhat on the make up of your water, what you're putting into it, if you have plants etc but as a general rule for me I tend to change twenty percent of the water once per week plus any top up needed due to evaporation. Hope that helps.

      @Daniel Keeping Fish ok thanks Daniel. I just set up my 20litres shrimp tank yesterday with one small old sponge filter. Nearly 24 hours,so im thinking of putting 20 of blue neocaridina tonight. So not to sure after putting them in the tank tonight. Do i need to do any water changes. Sorry for the newbie question.

    • @DanielKeepingFish
      @DanielKeepingFish  Рік тому +1

      @@barneyicycool89 no I wouldn't do any water changes for a week after adding the shrimp. Not sure if you already know this but it is best to acclimate shrimp slowly. Mark's Shrimp Tanks has a good video on it called How To Acclimate New Fish if you want to look it up. He is a very good shrimp keeper and breeder.
