    Thanks for the case design! I don't have an Amiga but this exact power supply model is very used in eurorack modular synthesizers because is cheap and reliable. Most people use this inside the synths but I need to make one like an external PSU and this is a lifesaver for me! Excellent job! I'm totally using it!

      The files I uploaded to thingiverse contain a version of the lid without the Amiga logo carved in it, so it's totally usable for any project that needs this size of box.

    Very nice. I got a new Amiga PSU just before Britexit form a seller in Poland. it was a lot better than my 35 year old ones. I got it as it has a display that showed the voltages very handy when go get a non booting Amiga before that I use a ATX PSU adapator to power my Amigas.

      Not sure what Britexit has to do with it, I often buy things from the USA and China with no issues so EU will be no problem.

    Regarding the "manky plug": these are actually pretty decent quality and durable in my experience. All I'd do is check the electrical connections inside and clean the pins with a scouring pad (or a fibreglass pencill if they are *really* crusty). Obviuusly, if pitted get rid of it.

    HELLO!!
    Very good and professional modification. New PSU with protections for shorts or overload its very usefull. In 3D print case model be very nice to add some slots for ruber stand pads for better ventilationn and stability on desk. Or just use windows seals like i have in my AMIGA 600 29 years old PSU. I fell end this old power supply because two resistors have sings of hard work-pcb under this component get darker and PSU smell after get hot like something go very hot, like pcb burning. I have stronger PSU from Amiga 500 with 4.5A and this go too hot but no smell like tosted pcb. For me this is a nice alternative to have nev trusted source of juices for AMIGAS. Regards.

    I liked that you printed it yellowed! I guess the joke needs to be done: time for retrobright? :)

      It does look very badly sunburned doesn't it! I did get a few complaints about my choice of colour, to the extent that I reprinted it in two-tone blue. But I still haven't transferred it to the new case!

    When it didn't quite fit, wouldn't a small flat rasp have solved your problem and saved reprinting the box?

      If it was just for myself, then possibly. But I was also uploading the .stl files to Thingiverse, so it had to be right.

    Hey Timmy, here goes a good one: if you knew that the Meanwell wasn't going to fit in the original case and you would have to print a new one, why not use a regular ATX psu instead of the Mean-does-not-fit-so-well one? Thank you for sharing your experience!

    • @TimsRetroCorner

      I'm sure you probably could if you wanted to.

      @TimsRetroCorner Hey, thanks for the response. But I believe that I didn't phrase my question very well. I mean, if it was not meant to fit into the original psu case, why use a meanwell psu? If you knew that it wasn't going to fit from the beginning, would you still choose it, or maybe a regular ATX psu could do the service? Maybe the fan noise was a relevant factor for the choice? Thank you for your patience since English is not my 1st language.

      On the Amiga power supply? There are several kinds so it depends on what you have. World of Jani goes through some of them. blog.worldofjani.com/?p=5695

    Hi. Do you think this MeanWell RT-65B is future proof? I mean, are the components easy to replace if they go bad?

    • @TimsRetroCorner
      @TimsRetroCorner  2 роки тому +2

      Inside the Mean Well? I guess - certainly no harder to repair than any other modern power supply.

    I have one Problem with the Meanwell Power Supply. If i plug the Meanwell in the Amiga, and make the measurement after the Line Filter from the A500 I get 13Volt on the 12Volt Line!! Is this a Problem?

    • @TimsRetroCorner
      @TimsRetroCorner  2 роки тому +1

      The Mean Well does have an adjustment pot to tweak the output voltages (right by the LED), but all the outputs (and particularly the 5v) must be under load or the voltages won't be accurate.
      The Amiga voltage ratings are +/- 5%, so the 12v rail should be between 11.4 and 12.6. 13 is definitely too high.
