I love them to but I don’t want her to experience negative situations that are required for her to either write those kinds of songs herself or pay someone else to write them. She was in a horribly, horrifically bad place when she made those songs. She doesn’t deserve to go back to that kind of situation.
@@jessicariderrules Please could you elaborate on why she was in a horrible situation back then? Is there any site where I can read deeper about it? I'm very interested in Evanescence's and Amy Lee's background to all stages of their artistic production.
@@ginociambotti9256Yes I can elaborate. So according to the website that I found one of her little sister's died as a baby, her other sister was in an abusive relationship. Her older brother who epileptic died from a severe seizure, and of course Amy Lee herself was in an abusive relationship with Mr. Moose. Now I might be wrong about her sister being in an abusive relationship, but that's part of what I know and remember hearing and part what I read online from that website, whose url I can't remember.
Amy wrote a lot of the Fallen and Pre-Fallen Evanescence material about her inner conflicts and abuse and gaslighting she was suffering in a horribly abusive relationship she was in (when asked, she later confirmed that Ben Moody was the abuser. Ben has also abused other women since including his ex-wife who divorced him in 2022 because of that). I think this is very much about that helpless state of being abused. I remember her saying in an old interview that she felt trapped, trying justify things to herself, trying to fix the other person while suffering herself, trying to get help but not knowing how
Thanks for this, I remember so many people used to speculate and spread as fact that this was about her witnessing the abuse and death of her younger sister.
@@CS-op3vu For this song Bleed, yeah no one knows what exactly she wrote it about. But everything I said Amy stated herself. And I think the lyrics of this songs are very relevant to what she said of her experience back then. Plus, she called this period of her life (from 90s to 2003) when she was writing these songs "a time in my life that was both wonderful and terrible".
Before more debates continue over the meaning of this song, remember that the lyrics can mean one thing to the writer and many things to many different perspectives. personally, it's obvious to me that it's about witnessing someone you loved being a murderer or some kind of violent evil. but everyone absorbs the song differently, and you can relate it to anything that you feel. I think this is one of the best songs by this band, such a shame its only a demo
I remember listening to this song while i was in elementary and I completely fell in love with evanescence and now im a junior in highschool and my music taste has changed drastically but i found my old albums and its such a throwback and i feel as if im falling in love all over again
When I was 11, I saw a UA-cam video about JonBenet Ramsey's murder that had this song as the backing track. The video terrified me so badly that I could not fall asleep that night, and had trouble sleeping for the next month or so. 12 years later, it still chills me to the bone.
The best part about creating anything is the dance of perception. To be able to reach into the level of the unknown, yet make it relatable. This masterpiece (which all of the demos are) does this perfectly. Beautiful, haunting, arrangement...Love Ben's guitar and vocals. No other music touches me like Evanescence. Origin was the brilliant beginning.
Everyone has their debates but no matter what anyone says I'll always believe it's about cheating and she's using a metaphor of murder or death. Especially with the "I saw her bleed, you heard me breathe and I froze inside myself, I must be dreaming" acting as if she caught him in the act. And of course the chorus, the well known words of the cheater "it's not what it seems, not not what you think". I feel people take songs to literal and need to think more on the metaphorical side of things, especially with music.
Can I ask what you think "I saw her bleed" means in terms of cheating because I'm confused. I'm not having a go at your opinion I just want to know what "I saw her bleed" means in like a cheating sceneries.
I feel that this song is about her witnessing a friend being abused by someone who swears she's wrong and that it isn't what it seems, and she needs to tell someone
I think this song is about witnessing a murder. "We all live, we all die; that does not begin to justify you." Just because people die eventually doesn't give the murderer the right to take someone's life. Also, the chorus sounds like denial, as in denying to believe that you just witnessed a murder.
I'll love evanescence till i die This band will always be in my heart So meaningfull songs i just love it P.S.sry about my english if anything is wrong

to me it's about betrayal, not necessarily in a relationship maybe something a little deeper. but beautiful words.you can hear the pain and fear in her voice.
Back when i heard this sooo long ago it was, and still is the closest song ever to something that ,to this day, I can't explain- it was a premonition, it ended up happening..changed my life forever & I will never let that person's memory be forgotten.
I wish people listen to this when it comes to know about the band. My Immortal and Bring me to life are ok, but this song is beyond this universe especially in 3:42
Surface analysis says she witnessed a murder, but what if she witnessed abuse? What if she's a victim of gaslighting? I.e., she saw someone being abused, and she was convinced it was all okay, even though her conscience railed against it. Or, she discovered someone's cutting scars. Or witnessed a suicide. This song has some serious flexibility. It could be any of these things.
If one goes even deeper into emotion, with abstract thoughtforms to accompany, the blood can be viewed metaphorically and the need to tell someone of their witness could be a friend or/and stranger of the pain behind the 'blood'....i love how interpretations are endless when it concerns an individual and a song. So personal for each.
I actually always assumed it was about a person who had been abused herself (either physically or sexually) but then dissociated and told herself it just wasn't real/happened to somebody else. It's actually kind of interesting to see how many people view it as something completely different.
I love this song... when my friend sings the chorus she actually sounds almost exactly like Amy Lee. She's really good and I wish I could freaking sing like that!!!
I remember first listening to this song when I was a kid and very naïve. I assumed she'd seen some guy kill someone and even now I can't get that image out of my mind. Even so, it's a brilliant song and probably one of my absolute favourites by them
I was just thinking the same. Nowadays, domestic abuse is a very actual issue in Portugal. Just this year (2019), more than fifty women were killed by their husbands or former husbands. This song seems to describe the drama of someone that is having a hard time understanding that she / he is being abused by the one she /he loves.
This song makes me think of someone trapped inside their dreams screaming to be released because the nightmares are slowly killing them while on the outside, they look like they are in a peaceful sleep. BEST. SONG. EVER!!!!!!!
I think it's about Amy experiencing a loved one or a really close friend murdering someone, and any is trying to convince herself that it didn't really happen

I don't know how this came of idea of the song. But I think it's relating to her sister Bonnie who died at age 3 from an identified illness when Amy was a kid. She took her sister's death to heart and hard. It devastate Amy Lee and was very hard for Amy to deal with and handle.
I think the song you are referring to is Hello (by Amy Lee), but I do also think that Bleed could have been the earlier version of Hello (before it got scrapped for whatever reason) or had the same themes as Hello. I think so because the chorus could be referring to denial (which is part of the grieving process and knowing that it was Amy's first time dealing with the concept of death after Bonnie passed away). Also, some artists use the same themes over and over again in their songs. For example, Melanie Martinez talks about fake people in her songs: Dollhouse, Pacify Her, Drama Club, Lunchbox Friends Firedrill, and Copycat. Which they're all different from each other, but the same theme is present throughout those songs.
My first impression on the song was that something happened and she tries to tell herself that it never happened. She tells herself that it was just a dream. Correct me if I'm wrong.
she is truly a great rock and soul singer in the rock music Amy in my eyes in the queen of rock music she makes rock music sound and feel great out and in side of the soul and heart got to love her and the band
Kinda got the same vibe. I just thought it was about abuse, seeing as someone called for help but was turned away by the witness because they didn't want to believe it, or didn't want to get caught up in that situation. Evanescence songs are fun to interpret lol
i don't know why but i think that the song about a mother who find out that her son is a murder and can't believe it and shr don't know what to do because she loves him and don't want to go to the police 😂 this is just what i think (and sorry for my bad english)
The thing I love about the whole Evanescence band is that their music is just so.... Real. Unlike those Lady Gaga songs. These are about life, death, and things inbetween!
How can I pretend that I don't see What you hide so carelessly I saw her bleed And you heard me breathe And I froze inside myself And turned away I must be dreaming We all live, we all die, That does not begin to justify you It's not what it seems. A while ago I made a home made album with old, heavy Evanescence songs. The list looked something like this: Eternal Lies Anything for you Bleed (i must be dreaming) Forever gone forever you So close (The last day) Away from me Where will you go Before the dawn Field of innocence Even in death Surrender Understanding Farther away demo Imaginary origin Whisper 2002 Bring me to life demo Haunted demo It was all a lie (lies remix) What other songs do you think I should include?
scrolled for 5 min n only saw 1 other comment feeling like its about abuse...I guess thats a good thing to know what its like to live when part of u has died from being abused. u can very easily bleed when being beat w.o dieing
also "what u hide so carelessly" (marks) and "its not what its not what u think" applies to hiding/denying abuse im kinda shocked not many ppl see abuse being the subject as plausible
For me, this relates to my battle with eating disorders. This illness, whilst displaying physical changes, is all effectively in my mind. It is trying to kill me, and I suppose I'm too weak to battle it again. I must die at some point but my eating disorder is accelerating that. I know it is all in my head but does that make it any less real? Hardly.
I'm eating too much Its bcuz we're in pain Its a distraction ... Things should change, ppl around, environment .. the real cause of pain must be discovered 😞
we all live we all die that does not begin to justify you its not what it seems not what you think... no i must be dreaming its only in my mind not real Life no i must be dreaming

the line "we all live and, we all die, but that does not begin to justify you" would strongly suggest its murder.
I think it might be murder because the pre chorus; “we all live, we all die” and saying that doesn’t justify what “they’ve” done

I was playing this infront of my sister and when it said "just in my mind, not real life" she screamed JUSTIN BIEBER!!! I disowned her.
good!
good
Ellie Sykes good!
Ellie Sykes holy circlejerk. I forgot how much people hated him.
It wasn’t even popular to hate him in 2014.
Dan McMaster I hated him then too
8 years that i absolutely love evanescence
This song is so cool! It's going to be a song for my story!

This is an anthem about living through gaslighting. One of my favorites.
Beautiful.
i just love all of their old songs. no idea why. so good.
Everybody listening??☔☔☔
I miss THIS evanescence
my favorite depression song. i was listening this in my hard times.
Going under and My heart is broken are mine...
Como pode um musicão desses não ter feito o sucesso que merecia? Dá de 10x0 nessas porcarias de hoje em dia.
Origin is my favorite Evanescence album💜
love this song just got me out of my writer's block.
Thank You Evanescence!
I think this song is about witnessing a murder.
It is
Touché
I've heard Amy writes some of her songs based on vivid dreams so maybe she had a nightmare which inspired her or something.. I don't know
this song is so haunting i love it so much :)
The thing I love about the whole Evanescence band is that their music is just so.... Real. Unlike those Lady Gaga songs. These are about life, death, and things inbetween!
Thanks ! I had it in my head but forgot the title 😊 Only remembered "I must be dreaming "
How can I pretend that I don't see
What you hide so carelessly
I saw her bleed
And you heard me breathe
And I froze inside myself
And turned away
I must be dreaming
We all live, we all die,
That does not begin to justify you
It's not what it seems.
Not what you think
No, I must be dreaming.
It's only in my mind,
Not real life.
No, I must be dreaming.
Help you know I've got to tell someone,
Tell them what I know you've done.
I fear you, but spoken fears can come true.
We all live, we all die,
That does not begin to justify you
It's not what it seems.
Not what you think.
No I must be dreaming.
It's only in my mind,
Not real life.
No I must be dreaming.
We all live,
We all die,
That does not begin to justify you
It's not what it seems
Not what you think
No I must be dreaming
It's only in my mind
Not real life
No I must be dreaming
Not what it seems
Not what you think
I must be dreaming
Just in my mind
Not real life
I must be dreaming

A while ago I made a home made album with old, heavy Evanescence songs. The list looked something like this:
Eternal
Lies
Anything for you
Bleed (i must be dreaming)
Forever gone forever you
So close (The last day)
Away from me
Where will you go
Before the dawn
Field of innocence
Even in death
Surrender
Understanding
Farther away demo
Imaginary origin
Whisper 2002
Bring me to life demo
Haunted demo
It was all a lie (lies remix)
What other songs do you think I should include?
scrolled for 5 min n only saw 1 other comment feeling like its about abuse...I guess thats a good thing to know what its like to live when part of u has died from being abused. u can very easily bleed when being beat w.o dieing
also "what u hide so carelessly" (marks) and "its not what its not what u think" applies to hiding/denying abuse im kinda shocked not many ppl see abuse being the subject as plausible
I'm crying 😭
That outro... 🖤
Unfortunately good music like this no longer exists....
I love this song.
The Song is Amazing
Every life has value. Every life is important.
I must be dreaming :(
i luv how you go from one set of lyrics to the next (the affects next) and still be in time (:
For me, this relates to my battle with eating disorders. This illness, whilst displaying physical changes, is all effectively in my mind. It is trying to kill me, and I suppose I'm too weak to battle it again. I must die at some point but my eating disorder is accelerating that. I know it is all in my head but does that make it any less real? Hardly.
I'm eating too much
Its bcuz we're in pain
Its a distraction ...
Things should change, ppl around, environment .. the real cause of pain must be discovered 😞
I wish this song was on Spotify 😔
we all live
we all die
that does not begin to justify you
its not what it seems
not what you think...
no i must be dreaming
its only in my mind
not real Life
no i must be dreaming
