I’m so glad Konomo didn’t get hurt in all of that. I know this was years ago but it’s still scary to watch when her dad starts flinging his arm with her on it still. She’s a brave little cookie.
Gorillas are impressive and beautiful. They could be very aggressive because of strength, but they are not. They are peaceful and intelligent beings. Killing them for meat, trophies or catching young is a barbaric act that must end once and for all. People please protect them.
It's true. I do not agree with the breeding of gorillas in the zoo. It is necessary to increase their protection in the wild and to do their utmost to prevent their environment from shrinking.
That baby is brave and loves her mama a lot to go against big daddy silverback Haoko. I never seen this video before. They're so lovely and majestic 😍🙋🏽♀️🦍

Mum's quite passive until he messes with her child, then she's having none of his bullying, the other female members of the family agree & poor old dad gets taught a lesson, Girls stick together & support each other THAT'S what "girl power" is all about
Wow had no idea Haoko was such a tyrant, not sure why he always bites back then but heard he did that a lot. It’s amazing to see how gentle he is now especially with his kids an with his wives. You can see why Komomo is the Warrior princess she’s no joke
That is how females submit to males. The mom was handling her husband and stupid young daughter poked her nose in and got mom beaten. Then it was a family squabble. She was not brave, she was in no danger from her father.
When you watch this video in slow motion then it seems like Haoko didn't even hit Momoko with his mighty arms, but he waved them above her, and very gently pushed away the Komomo couple of times. At least this time it wasn't too bad, but still a little bit scary. So it seems like it's just gorillas' custom, establishing the hierarchy.
@@louismeloche3857 I wish he was playing, but Haoko used to be aggressive, but like humans they don't get a book of instruction.. he has chilled after 4 offspring... Haoko is an excellent father.. not all humans get it right, give the dude some props for learning how to be a daddy... ✌️😘💛🇦🇺
Ooh...😮 Momoko was mad. Haoko shook Momoko hard. Shaking my head. Haoko and brother Shabani antagonize their lady wives 1:00 with the tagging, nipping and then running away. Komomo just happened to get caught in the crosshairs while Haoko shook her off his arm, but she's ok. Remember gorillas are very strong (lifting up to 1500-2000lbs on each arm) so the shaking looked startling. Bottom line Momoko wears the pants in this tussle 😆.
little girl just did not understand what was going on. She will learn not to do that. But ya, momma is not to be messed with. Doesn't care what the misunderstanding is, she was an amazing female in her prime. Getting very old now and they will keep her going another 20 or so.
Wow at around the 56 57 mark that baby worn his mother not to stand or move pulling at her hair so she new boss didn't think she should move yet. I found that behaviors beautiful. Yes he wants milk but being there for mom was more important. I just loved that part of this video.
This is the only gorilla out of all the videos I watch from other families that constantly bites his wife's. It has to hurt them. Usually the males give a little tap or push to play and be chased. This is not a good silverback.
We don't understand them at all..it was certainly not aggressive, you can see it in his approach, its some kind of lessons being taught to the little kid on how psychology of male gorillas works I guess :=)))There is certainly more to them than just eating and copulation instincts, which we normally prefer to believe to assert our domination over the earth.
@@sonjavandam1306 I’m with you on this Sonja, I don’t watch chimp videos, they are extremely aggressive. Are you sure you're not talking about chimps? I saw an identical video with chimps (on some concrete steps) and I don't think 4 male gorillas could gang up on a single female. The silverback would intervene.
@Jayne Eyre The point is that the animals have to endure this awful noise each day. In the wild you only hear loud yelling when danger is around. I never heard such yelling in our Zoos. Parents say do not do this, it tortures the animals, and that is true. They jave to bring up their babies, they want to fall asleep if tired, and all time while it is yelling, yelling, yelling so loud. Poor animals!

This is an old video from many years ago. All the gorillas are alive and well, many more babies have been born, and the father has mellowed out with age and is no longer so aggressive. That said, it's very rare for an alpha silverback to seriously injure one of its females or its own child.
