We kept a wild duck who could fly. We just clipped the tips of the flight feathers on ONE wing. It throws them off balance so they don't fly away. Not painful at all if done correctly. Don't cut too much. Instruction videos on UA-cam
always hold them when they are young. Even if it's a wild guinea fowl, when it created a bond with you, it will always comeback. I enjoy your enthusiasm and seeing your chickens
Feed them well they won't leave their fowl pals and will help lure more wild guinea. They are roamers so they will fly, but will come back to lay their eggs where they instinctively know a safe place with food enough to feed their chicks. Much success Dr. D no pain.
Guinea fowls are like your guard dogs. In the caribbean they send out a certain warning sounds that signifies danger or the approach of strangers. I love your video and I can tell you're enjoying farming. I wish I was in Africa!
Traditionally , at their young stage, pull some of their feathers 🪶, burn it into ashes and mix with their feed twice in their pen . They will remain on the farm. You need to also trim their feathers with scissors else they will be climbing trees
You can trim wings without damaging the bird, also checkout other videos on Guinea fowl... They can be trained to come home at night or late afternoon.
Hi Daniel, nice job. I suggest you cut off 3/4 length the first 5 to 6 feathers with a sharp scissors, and monitor them when it falls out and regrows for another cut. My granny does that to her Native Chickens.
Great video!!! Like the old ones!!! Great experiment!! . I believe the ginis will stay. Bc you feed them... And if you feed the wild, you may attract more of them to your farm!! Find out what is their envoirment like, and try to recreate it in your farm!! There is a goose farmer in Spain that attract wild goose to their farm every year!!! I believe it can be done. just you wont be able to guess in 1st try.... But if you pay attention, you may find the key!!! As alwais.. great Job... And hope Rodri, the little monkey is doing well
You just need to clip their flying wings periodically. Just stretch their feathers and It's the longest wing feather. There are a lot of videos on UA-cam about clipping wins. PS....It's painless and grows back... kudos!
hmm, those are some barbaric options. Clipping their feathers is typically done. Check youtube etc for how to do this, not difficult or painful. I love your channel and your love for your birds. Keep it up!👍💞
What about one of those pasture 'tractors' where pastured broilers are normally raised in for free range broiler meat. Because it has a roof the birds cannot escape and every day the 'tractor' is moved a few meters onwards so the birds stay on the pasture so they are technically free ranging.
Please dont do the cruel suggestions i would recommend cutting their wings, feathers, half feathers. Love your content tho i love keeping chickens but Im 13 and live in a city but still have a cock and 2 chickens and get so inspired from you. Keep making content 💕
DOC, what we do when we do not want our chickens to fly would also work on GUINEA FOWLs also,, we cut the flight feathers on the wings so the birds cannot fly,, other than that keep the birds in a pen with a roof over it so they cannot fly out
I have some small savings with me ,i would love also to start up something of that kind. Am tired of tear gas in Kampala it's better i settle in other businesses .
Just clip the feathers, I have experience on it, I was lucky to get free guinea fowl come from Wild to stay in my flock, In that case don't miss their breakfast, they will stay with you
Thanks for your content. What's the size of the chicken pen and the number of birds? You just only have to cut the feathers off one side of the wings and they will not be able to fly.
Hello my brother? How are you? This is a nice shelter and I want to make something like this on my farm. But my worry is can't snakes chip in through the caging wires
you don't have to rip their flight feathers out. Simply clip them. it does not hurt its like a haircut. And only do one side so they are unbalanced. If you do both theyll still fly.
We had an entire fence row that looked like that. All of your chopping sure brings back the memories. To keep the guinea fowl from flying, you can clip the flight feathers short of one wing only with scissors. No need to pull the entire feather out. Doing one wing causes them to fly in circles instead of up and away. Soon they decide they can't fly and quit trying. This is what I do with my turkeys. I have a video to show how to do it. ua-cam.com/video/d0tyc4PJrCc/v-deo.html
Togo here. Next time, put the guinea fowl eggs under a brooding hen. chicken egg and guinea fowl eggs together like siblings. The eggs will hatch together. The mother hen will domesticate them for you. To get it right, choose a good protective mother hen and let the mother do the work for you. These guinea fowl will behave like chikens. Try it and let me know.
I have kept wild Guinea fowls .. but unfortunately i lost them .. putting stones in their ears won't be enough they will still go away .. it's the option i used and i ended up losing them
Good stuff. Quick question why don't you go free range fully? Letting the chickens out in the morning? You will not spend on feeds, or spend very less. I have a farm of over 2000 birds that I let out in the morning till evening, in paddocks after cows. This has increased my profit margin tremendously. You have massive land. Get electric chicken fence and control their movement. I promise you, you will say bye to commercial feeds. Just an observation.
i do have genuine fowl but when there stay with the chicken when there are chicks their will not run away i have had wild genuine s but there have never run away
Just trim their feathers with a scissors...... No need pulling them out. It will grow back. Just trim with scissors one of the wings, not necessarily both wings
Do not pull out their wings just cut it short they won't feel it but they won't be able to fly. Thats what we did to our pet parrot for him to stop flying in the neighbors yard.
Hi brother, you dont need to pull out the feathers brother, you can just cut the half of it, its not painful. Love from Philippines.
Awesome. I'll do that
Yes, clipping their wings is the way to keep them from flying
We kept a wild duck who could fly. We just clipped the tips of the flight feathers on ONE wing. It throws them off balance so they don't fly away. Not painful at all if done correctly. Don't cut too much. Instruction videos on UA-cam
Daniel inspires me everyday to start up a UA-cam channel for my poultry too
Yeah, well unless you're in amazing setting in a country that most will never travel to see, why bother?
The love you put is outstanding and motivating ♥️
Your enthusiasm and dedication is infectious! Beautiful to watch👏👏👏👍
Beautiful this is the African Dream 🇿🇼 's uncle Bob would have been very proud of you Doc.
always hold them when they are young. Even if it's a wild guinea fowl, when it created a bond with you, it will always comeback. I enjoy your enthusiasm and seeing your chickens
Dr Daniel please do a video showing us how you put the chickens back in their house, it must be a real challenge 😊?
They go back by themselves when the sun set
@@bungayamayo7377 👍👍👍
They will stay on the farm, don't worry about it coz that's home for them not the wilderness
The way those chicken are exiting, they are like 'oh I've been waiting for this moment for a very long time😅'
Peace and blessings from USA👍🏽🎶🎶🎶
You can just trim there flight feathers on the tip of there wings it doesn't hurt them at all
I was just about to comment the same thing.
Okay
@@FarmUp only do one wing per Bird
I was thinking this too
Feed them well they won't leave their fowl pals and will help lure more wild guinea. They are roamers so they will fly, but will come back to lay their eggs where they instinctively know a safe place with food enough to feed their chicks. Much success Dr. D no pain.
I really love the rate your birds are growing 😍. You're such an inspiration Doc. Well done & blessings
Most fryers in the store are 8 weeks old...fyi
Weldone Dr, Daniel
Hi! I have Guinea Fowls (domestic) and I trim their flight feathers with scissors. It's not painful and it keeps them safe!
How can someone press a thumbs down for such a great job...smh
Dr. Dan love this video. We've always had the same problem with our guinea fowl.

Doc. i just love your videos everytime. so good to see you trying a free range set up. the chickens look so happy.

You cutt the flying feathers with a scissors and the tail too.
Bro eye really appreciate you for posting this. Thanks
That’s what’s going to happen to us when the lockdown is over! We all be scattering all over the place 😂😅 you are the first stop I will make !
Your future is bright doctor Daniel.. in our case here we have a kitchen seller who eventually occupied the biggest office in the land.. the president
Guinea fowls are very smart birds. If you feed them well they will stay in that place.
Thanks for the informative show, how many acres of land do someone need to keep 2000 birds?

Doctor, You might already know it, but I would not cut the branches out completely as they give shade to the chickens.
Guinea fowls like laying eggs in the bush so I would advise you not to cut everything. Talking from my experience.
I think undergrowth is nice for the birds.
The ground is green wow
I think it's better to remove the feathers than making them deaf
Good job!!! Pls what breed of chicken scavenge? Do cockerels scavenge?
I have some small savings with me ,i would love also to start up something of that kind. Am tired of tear gas in Kampala it's better i settle in other businesses .
hi brother i like your project and am in farming too but i have a question why did you get your genuine fowl eggs from for the white genuine fowl
Job well done, did u vaccinate against fowltyphoid yesterday? kindly share the video if u did.
Could you do a video on how to start selling chicken as a beginning poultry farmer 👩🌾 by the way love the video
Check his previous videos
Advice: throw a party and the fowl will not leave 🤣🤣🤣🤯
What have seen doc he's hardworking guy he try to do many things him self not with money nkatute boi

You need to open another door to reduce stressing them as they fight going out

Hi,
Can you please make a video on free range chicken feed schedule with protein percentage?
Hello my brother? How are you? This is a nice shelter and I want to make something like this on my farm. But my worry is can't snakes chip in through the caging wires
Wow...love this
I really like this video
Instead of pulling out the feathers it is better to clip them,
It will take longer for the feathers to grow back when you cut them

Hi, can one do poultry in a living community without smell going into other people's homes?
Certainly. With proper litter.
@@FarmUp could you elaborate a bit more please?
There chicken buddies🙌😂😂😂
10:10 dang right...Get your money bro. 😂
Do u permit farm visits for hands on learning & experience ?
Dr, how can one get in touch with you?
Hi dr daniel, I was going to ask how your cope with wild birds when you have free range chicken farming ?
I have same gloves as yours 😀.
I wish I could have enough cash to have this.....
Once again Daniel in Uganda where are you found because I need a eke study
Get a scissors and shave down the feathers. It's something you would have to do every so often as the feathers do grow back.

Cage all the guinea fowls and *never let them out!!!*
Hello Dr? Are these local breeds or improved kienyeji ?

Hi Dr Daniel kindly i just wanted to know where did you source this breed from
Good job bro
Hello where do you get this free range chicken from, and how much is each?
You can just clip the feathers with scissors it’s doesn’t hurt them
i do have genuine fowl but when there stay with the chicken when there are chicks their will not run away i have had wild genuine s but there have never run away
Hau do you easily bring them back in though???
How do u get them back inside considering they are quite a number?
what if you just cut the feathers in half? i dont have chickens so idk lol just an idea
Turkey in the wild
Just trim their feathers with a scissors...... No need pulling them out. It will grow back. Just trim with scissors one of the wings, not necessarily both wings
brother snake egg that one👏🇵🇭
Dr thanks. in Uganda we just make them deaf so that they cant hear the wildones calling thanks
Pls how can I differentiate a day old or two weeks white noiler from white cockerel
Do not pull out their wings just cut it short they won't feel it but they won't be able to fly. Thats what we did to our pet parrot for him to stop flying in the neighbors yard.
Mi dad kept Such birds five years ago he made them deaf after a while they went sleeping in de near by tree and later they disappeared
Put fishnet fencing around the farm and they cannot fly away through it
Dr where can I get such mini incubator
In our country Kenya we usually make them deaf
Making them deaf expose them to danger also. This is bad also.
Hello Brother How do i get hold of that incubutor
I doubt they will run away on you. You're the one feeding them
Hi Doctor can u plz share me the fomular for their feed?
How do you know if you are missing any?
