  • I didn't want to waste this 24 ITALIAN ARMY COMBAT ration pack by just opening it and eating a small amount.
so my thoughts are to show you and other viewers what's inside this 24hr Italian army 24hr ration pack then take it out Stealth camping as a 24hr meal.
No like available for the 24hr Italian army combat ration pack because the seller only had this one.

Italians aren't big breakfast eaters. Commonly breakfast is an espresso or cappuccino and a bun/roll/bread. Lunch is the big meal of the day. Dinner is simple; a slice of bread and toppings or cheese and fruit or a little leftovers from lunch.
Tortellini Al Ragu are like little ravioli as you thought (round with hole ''bellybutton'') and Ragu is a tomato sauce with meats simmered in it.
Bovina means beef. We get our word Bovine from it.
Minestrone (can't see the whole name) is a bean, vegetable and pasta soup. A peasant meal. You can break up the crackers to add to the soup to make it heartier.

Looked like it said Minestrone soup. It's usually made with seasonal vegetables, tomatoes and tiny pasta.

3 toothbrushes :) awesome. Great for cleaning your weapon with and the other spare for any itches in hard to reach places ;). The sweets are great for boiling down in water when you run out of coffee to make a hot fruity drink. I want one of those stoves too, Very compact. I'm guessing it would hold a mess tin or similar canteen issued. that the cans would be placed in to warm up or empty into for an all in :) . Reminds me a lot of the earlier British army rations in tins. What i had during my training in 88. Prefer them to the boil in the bag rubbish, but they are more compact for 2 or 3 days out. I also spent a few months down south and used the Arctic ration packs. They were brilliant. Everything needed water to boil , but in the snow you have plenty of that. :) great vid again Dan.

I think you should test a Ration pack whilst on a camp, like a soldier you either eat it or go hungry, when I was in the British army in the early 80s sometimes we would swap with each other however most of the time my colleague and I had to eat what we'd taken because part of our job took us quite away from our platoon also at times we weren't allowed a fire so we ate them cold which wasnt so bad but they were better warm especiallyon those winter nights. I still buy the British army Ration packs and have them on days out even the wife enjoys them. Give it a go, I'll bet it will be a great video, see you soon.

In rhe lunch you have Tortellini al ragù. Tortellini are a type of pasta with inside the meat. Ragù it's a tomato sauce with minced meat in it.
The. You have beef in jelly.
For dinner you have the Minestrone di verdure (vegetable soup).

I like the concept of the three boxes(1 box per meal). Although, there did not appear to be much food in the breakfast box. I get real cranky without breakfast. Lunch appears to be ok. The dinner meal looks a little weak also. Altho9ugh you made a great video, I enjoyed it. Thanks again and be safe and have a good day.

Fun fact: the presence of alcohol in the Italian MRE is due to the geographic conformation of the Italian peninsula. Italy is surrounded on three sides by the Mediterranean Sea, leaving just the northern mountainous regions for potential enemies to invade; that's why boozes were considered necessaries for soldiers, because they had to warm them up in case of mountain fights

Why is it that, seemingly the majority of reviewers, don't use Google translate, & instead try to read a language they don't speak? If you had bothered to take the time to read the outside packaging, you would have seen the contents (breakfast, lunch, & dinner) of the ration, listed in Itsalian, English, & French.
Fifrst, the large package of tablets were Bran tableets, to keep you regular while in the field. Second, iIt says Tortillini Ragu in English on the can. The only similarrity to ravioli, is they both have a filling. Third, Bovina (Bovine) is beef stewed in its own fat & juices (which is like jelly when cold). Iit's the same as Russian Toshonka. Very miost, tender, & delucious. Best when eaten warm. Finally, it says Minestrone on the can. Which indiicates iit's soup. Unless you've never heard of, or eaten Minestrone soup before?!

Thanks for the video Dan. Really appreciate the fact that reading isn’t your strong point, but you have a crack at it anyway. 👍🏻👍🏻 Paused the video at that tin of bovina. It’s canned beef just in case you’re still wondering what it is! There’s a page on the web that gives you the ration details in English. 👍🏻👍🏻

In a land of wonderful food, an Italian breakfast is the most disappointing meal of the day. Millions of Italians make do with a cappuccino and brioche, often consumed standing up at the bar, although cereal in bowl or biscuits dunked in milky coffee are becoming more popular. Maybe that explains why the Italian breakfast ration pack is so underwhelming. I can't imagine a lot of fighting on a chocolate bar and a few sweets.

Reading does not seem to be your strongest. Being a NATO Operational Ration Pack these are designed to be issued not only to the troops of the manufacturing nation but potentially to any other NATO country. In the pack, there are INSTRUCTIONS and some translation of the ORPs contents. English is the common language within NATO. You have not seen fit to read those instructions prior to your review which detracts from what you are telling the viewer.
My other observation is that it is an Italian ORP and they do not have the food preferences of the typical northern British male! I think you have closed your mind to that fact. Together with the fact you have never served and experienced what it is like to live in the field. These meals are the highlight of your day, especially when you are cold, wet, and hungry. Again it detracts from what you are telling the viewer. Amateurish!
It is Minestrone soup - Litlle pieces of pasta and vegetables!
