    Bring your container indoors and harvest as you need them, they stay much better on the tree till needed.

    Beautifully done video!! I have 2 meyer lemon trees and 2 key lime plants, and I have yet to even get any flowers/fruit. One of the lemon trees I've had since last spring the other 3 I bought this past spring. The older lemon is a huge plant, that appears to be healthy...just no fruit. I have them all in very large ceramic pots from Sam's club. I live about an hour and a half south of Raleigh, so it's warm enough to get some fruit. I've given organic citrus fertilizer a few times, as well as compost and a side dressing of bone meal (not all at the same time, of course). Any ideas on what I can do to encourage fruit development for next year? The plants were all at least 1 year old when I bought them. So the oldest should be about years old. 🤷🏽‍♀️

      Thank you!
      Did you grew the lemon trees from seeds or did you buy it from someone local? If so there’s a high chance, they sold you seed grown plants. Lemon trees grown from seeds takes 7 years to start flowering and fruiting. If you bought it from a reputable seller, and your tree is grafted( stem attached to the root at the base ) , then you should move your plants to a sunny area where it gets plenty of direct sunlight. Please check your trees and let me know!

    Question...did the greenish lemons continue to ripen after being indoors ?

      Hi, thank you for your lovely feedback!
      Yes all the green lemons eventually turned yellow even after refrigeration.

    What did you put in the dirt n how big is the pot it’s in and do you cover them in winter n use warning lights or bring them in? What type of weather is in Raleigh?

      Hi Joyce, it’s regular 50/50 mix in the pot and I add a Jobe’s organic fruit and citrus fertilizer spike once every year during the time I notice flower buds forming. Bring the plant indoors from Nov 1st to April 15th coz of winter freezing temperatures.

      What is 50/50 mix? I’m trying to homemade potting mix to save money. Thank you!

    • @ncgardeningandcookingadventure
      @ncgardeningandcookingadventure  Рік тому +1

      Phuong Ha, 50/50 mix means 50 percent of Top soil and 50 percent of compost. You can buy this 50/50 mix from your local landscaping supply. Just google search for 50/50 mix nearby, you’ll find plenty of places that sells that.

      I had that problem too n someone said it could be those roly poly armadillo looking bugs eating my green pepper plants n maybe making the lie ins drop off. But I really don’t know why n wish I knew.

    Why do you harvest them while they are still green?

    • @ncgardeningandcookingadventure
      @ncgardeningandcookingadventure  3 роки тому +1

      In my zone, the winter begins by November 3rd week. So I had to harvest everything and bring the plant indoors.

      I'm wondering if you could leave the green lemons on the tree when you bring it inside. Did you like the Myer lemon taste? I'm thinking about buying one. I'm in a zone 7a to 7b area.

    • @ncgardeningandcookingadventure
      @ncgardeningandcookingadventure  3 роки тому

      Yes , why not! I am certain the green lemons will eventually ripen and turn yellow indoors.

      I’m in 7a and I leave mine outside with plastic over all of the delicate n tropical plants with a chicken heat bulb inside the plastic. Walmart roll of large plastic is 25.00.
      I leave the lemons ( the ones that don’t fall off ) on the tree til they yellow and they make so much juice I couldn’t believe it.....Nothing like the store bought.
      And I use the zest of the lemons for cookies n cakes. Then I put the rest in a container after it dried.
      It would have been nice to see one of the lemons cut in half. I barely had much skin on mine n they got big, they were almost all juice.
      I didn’t get many flowers n lemons on mine and then what I did get, some of the fruit fell off.
      I use fertilizer for citrus n a tad of slow release fertilizer. I use cedar wood chips in winter. I sure wish I knew why the fruit fell off.
      I had bugs go after one of the lemons cuz I didn’t see it n didn’t pick it. I didn’t think bugs would eat a lemon. :)

    It would be nice if you passed along some knowledge and tips so that others that watch the video could learn something. Really all I learned is that you grew lemons.

    Misleading title. It should say Potted Dwarf trees.
