Safety factor
No Mover was doing all the flying. Lester was just operating the radio the PTT switch is on the hand hold, that's why his hand was on the controls

Man, this is just heartbreaking to watch. Judging from what I've seen it looks like at least a 15ft surge went thru there. Also from what I'm hearing IDA will be upgraded to a CAT 5 when the final report comes out from the NHC early next year. having been to Leeville a few times, seeing some of my followers pics that they sent me over on Facebook was also heartbreaking. Poor Ms. Gail, her bait shop & house all gone..
I knew RI was going to happen with IDA but never expected it to be as Intense as it was. Sad to see Les and his family's camp gone like that.. Sooo much gone along our coast. It'll never be the same again.. :(

I flew Navy in the ‘60s and have to admit counting engines when I flew it over water….. I like to divide by 2 and have a whole number result. An A4 off the ship at night was an E ticket. I really enjoy your posts. JD

I’ve just spent two weeks on the ground in Golden Meadow, Leeville, Fourchon, and Grand Isle. The devastation is impossible to put into words.
8:00 It's a trip to watch you fly without Lester keeping his hand on the cyclic. That must be a pretty cool feeling. I used to work on MH-53's a loooong time ago, and I loved every minute any time I had the chance to fly on one. Even it was just a simple FCF flight. Rotary wing for life.
It's good to see you back Lester and in 2008 I lost my family home to wildfires here in Texas that took out over 16,000 acres in a 72hour period mother nature is strong and you can rebuild back all things better than before.

As always, loved the video Mover. We lost our camp that was just west of Holley Beach when Rita went through. Holley Beach as a whole was wiped off of the map completely. I was working for Allstate's National Catastrophe Team back then and went down there a day or two after the storm and had to go around camps that were in the middle of the highway after we crossed the bridge going over the Intercoastal. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the bridge. From there to about Creole we had to dodge camps and alligators on the highway. Hurricanes are such a terrible thing down south. I hate seeing them coming in. Tell Lester we feel for him and his family over the loss. We know what he's going through.

Sorry to see the state of Lester's camp, but it's always awesome to see him in your videos. Wish I would have known you were headed down there. We had some major damage at a facility at Grand Isle that would have been interesting to see from the air.
Great video with Lester, but I really hate to all of that hurricane destruction. I grew up in Florida and can remember some really bad hurricanes and the damage it caused. It really sucked then so I can empathize with you guys in Louisiana are what going through now.

Transmission lines in the news were the 8 lines that crossed the missisipia and all 8 terminated on one tower, that failed.

Enjoyed having this on in the background as I do admin at work. Just a note to say Lester's lifejacket won't work correctly, which would be bad, if he doesn't have a crotch strap, it seemed to be missing in the clip at the start.

Has it been asked... As a pilot in the military, how easy it it to transfer over flying a fighter to a helo? If possible, now that your command is losing funding, have you looked at this option?
