    11:20 for free feet pics. Also, training for the west point half marathon on March 20, so thanks for the tips. I am hitting my wall at 10 miles, but it's fun to push through and I'm definitely getting that runner's high that you're talking about.
    I think it would also be interesting to see how you manage both lifting/running schedules and how you are able to work both of those into your workout regimen.

    Edit/Update: made it through to the end, best advice anyone ever gave me was "you don't always have to be first, but never be last." I grad tomorrow after our 12mi. Aaslt.
    I start day 0 of AASLT school tomorrow, I'm definitely nervous but not sure why. Physically I'm where I need to be, I guess its the meticulous and anal layout I'm worried about. For some reason seeing this vid and hearing your encouragement is helping me lots.

    Just discovered your videos and they’re great! Really appreciate the insights. I messed my knee up and had to get surgery back in 2009 (a week before I was supposed to go to Robin Sage) and it’s been a nagging injury every since. My knee screams at me every time I run, but I’m really trying to get back into running and rucking more so I can drop a warrant packet and feel confident that it won’t betray me again. My run time has become atrocious at this point, but I think I just need to stop babying it and start getting after it. Thanks for the motivating and informative videos!

      Combine strength training and running. You’ll need to be taking in way more calories than you’re probably used to. Find a macro calculator (online for free) and plug in an estimate of your activity level. And then use the calculation to give you an idea on what your calories should look like. That’s a good place to start 👍

      I haven’t heard anything official about that in the army can be a very stubborn beast, so I wouldn’t count your chickens Until they hatch as far as the APFT coming back. But I wouldn’t mind it, I think the AC FT is a good test, but it’s just really hard to implement army wide and causes a lot of unnecessary heartache in my opinion.

    • @GrittySoldier
      @GrittySoldier  2 роки тому +2

      You’re going to want to be stretching out your calves religiously, and just take it slow as you ease back into your running, make sure that your form is very good and that you are limiting your impact as much as possible, so make sure you’re running on trails or on the treadmill mostly. Also to get good cardio in and go easy on your shins you should be doing some work on the elliptical, a stationary bike, and even in the pool. That should help you get your cardio back up while you’re healing

    • @GrittySoldier
      @GrittySoldier  2 роки тому

      Well I’ll default to saying the really depends on your goals. BUT, I’ve noticed that the two seem to go hand in hand. When you are training for speed, more distance usually goes with that, whereas for distance training you don’t REALLY need to worry about speed. But for me, I want to work on both, finding a good competitive balance of both. 👍

And it’s not like I’m going fast or long distance, I can only manage to do around 1 mile in 13 minutes or so and after I’m winded.
