Not to worry, the indicator auto cut-off would function normally since the mounting hub design is similar. Most likely the hub diameter would be same, so it might not be required to cut the bottom trim at all. Wish you the best for steering wheel swap DIY 😀👍

Secondly, the Swift steering has standard airbag. So it's near impossible to install and use in a non-airbag car like old Alto.

Glad the video was helpful. Regarding your question, such an upgrade has multiple challenges and would be a big ordeal. 1. ZXi steering wheel has a different frame that won't take an ordinary horn pad. 2. Audio controls require a clock spring for electrical continuity. Adding that to Alto would mean hardcore modification. To allow for the clock spring, guessing the combination switch must also change. I had a Maruti CIAZ and SWIFT earlier and currently I own a S-Presso. All these cars exhibit a common steering issue. After taking a turn to the left or right, the steering wheel does not return to the original position and each time I have to retract it myself to get the steering back to the original position. I also have a Vento where this issue never happens, after taking a turn the steering wheel returns to the original position perfectly. I have had multiple visits to both several authorised as well as outside service centres and nobody has a solution for rectifying this issue. Can this be addressed in any way, at all?!

Hi Abuzar. Steering from previous 1&2 gen Wagonr can be installed. In current 3rd gen model, the steering has different mounting spline. So it will not fit in Alto.

To upgrade the steering, there goes two options: 1. swap the wheel with other tata model or 2. retrofit a new car wheel from other brand. Could not say much about other tata models with almost no knowledge. For other brand, I tried to compare with maruti steering from product pictures on boodmo website. Maruti steering for previous gen models (Alto, wagonr, swift, ciaz etc.) has a 30-teeth spline for column mounting and it appears like it's the same for tata indica v2. Back then maruti and tata might be using common design. In order to find out what steering can fit, you could get in touch with a local mechanic and try out other car wheels. Let's see how it goes and any further help needed, do let me know. ✌️

However, as explained in the video, the indicator auto-cancel function would not get activated because the wheel hub is flat (does not have the two pins as in 800's original wheel). Probably, you could do try some jugaad to make it work👍
Hi Mohammed. Yes, absolutely you can install Dzire 2G steering in Alto. Just be careful to get the non-airbag type. MGP genuine part nos. 1. Steering wheel 48110M74L01-5PK 2. Horn pad 48120M74L00-C48
Actually it's quite simple to do by self. First disconnect the battery negative. Pull out the horn pad by hand. Now if you don't have socket and wrench, then remove the horn bracket (3 screws) to gain access to the center nut and remove it using 17mm spanner. Take off the steering and install the new one.
Hello Vandalizer. New gen maruti cars on heartect platform, such as Swift, use a 33-teeth spline to mount the steering wheel. While conventional models, including latest Alto 800, continue with 30-teeth spline. So unfortunately a direct steering wheel swap is not possible.
The steering column shaft must be swapped as well, if feasible. Moreover compatibility has to be checked for related parts (combination switch, airbag, contact coil) and customize as required. Here's a reference video bit.ly/3MfpVjy
Hi buddy. Sadly its not possible. Since the mounting spline has changed (supposedly owing to heartect platform), the new gen model steering wheels are incompatible for previous gen cars.

Hi Rahul. As per Insta DMs, I understand that your car is Alto 2012 and you have installed new gen Alto steering. While steering swap we may have to do some customization as I had done with column cover. In your case, new steering is mounted deeper and rubbing with column cover. To solve your issue, may I suggest to try & replace the column cover trims as well with this 48400M79G00-P4Z. Probably this cover would be shorter. Just a guess.

Hi Abuzar. Steering from previous 1&2 gen Wagonr can be installed. In current 3rd gen model, the steering has different mounting spline. So it will not fit in Alto.

Hi Gagan. Purane sabhi models mein steering wheel mount standard hai. Magar naye models jinme airbag mandatory ho chuka, unme spline design badal gaya hai. Isliye new swift ka steering, kisi bhi pre-airbag gaadi ke saath compatible nahi hoga.

It's a bummer that your stock steering wheel isn't comfortable. Is it the four-spoke type or which one? To upgrade the steering, there goes two options: 1. swap the wheel with other tata model or 2. retrofit a new car wheel from other brand. Could not say much about other tata models with almost no knowledge. For other brand, I tried to compare with maruti steering from product pictures on boodmo website. Maruti steering for previous gen models (Alto, wagonr, swift, ciaz etc.) has a 30-teeth spline for column mounting and it appears like it's the same for tata indica v2. Back then maruti and tata might be using common design. In order to find out what steering can fit, you could get in touch with a local mechanic and try out other car wheels. Let's see how it goes and any further help needed, do let me know. ✌️

Yes, these kind of steering wheels can be fitted in 800 very much directly 😀. However, as explained in the video, the indicator auto-cancel function would not get activated because the wheel hub is flat (does not have the two pins as in 800's original wheel). Probably, you could do try some jugaad to make it work👍

Actually it's quite simple to do by self. First disconnect the battery negative. Pull out the horn pad by hand. Now if you don't have socket and wrench, then remove the horn bracket (3 screws) to gain access to the center nut and remove it using 17mm spanner. Take off the steering and install the new one.

Hello Vandalizer. New gen maruti cars on heartect platform, such as Swift, use a 33-teeth spline to mount the steering wheel. While conventional models, including latest Alto 800, continue with 30-teeth spline. So unfortunately a direct steering wheel swap is not possible.

The steering column shaft must be swapped as well, if feasible. Moreover compatibility has to be checked for related parts (combination switch, airbag, contact coil) and customize as required. Here's a reference video bit.ly/3MfpVjy

Hi buddy. Sadly its not possible. Since the mounting spline has changed (supposedly owing to heartect platform), the new gen model steering wheels are incompatible for previous gen cars.

Hi Rahul. As per Insta DMs, I understand that your car is Alto 2012 and you have installed new gen Alto steering. While steering swap we may have to do some customization as I had done with column cover. In your case, new steering is mounted deeper and rubbing with column cover. To solve your issue, may I suggest to try & replace the column cover trims as well with this 48400M79G00-P4Z. Probably this cover would be shorter. Just a guess.

Hi Aadi. That's dream of us Alto lovers. Wish it was possible though. There is no direct fitting orvm or conversion kit. Yet to find a practical and VFM solution.
