hello.. i am a maintenance technician at UC Berkeley. in my building we have this thermostat and HTP water heaters. for the record THEY BOTH SUCK!! the thermostat (LUX) Either wont turn on, or wont turn off! i programmed and reprogrammed, reset front and back. set schedules .. they Either work good or its the riddle. I usually hitcthe reset in the back and front... then program... remember to change the switch to off. if u dint want heat,, and remember. if its on auto.. it will do the program. keep it on off if you dont want ot to come on.. If you have a Htp water heater.. get a tech to check the 3 way vaulve! sometimes it doesn't switch from hot water to heat. it won't do both at the same time. this video helped me out tremendously! thank you.
Unfortunately because I rent I don't get a choice of what kind of thermostat I use but, I definitely wouldn't choose this one. It works when it wants. I have to have my landlord come fix it constantly.
Good review! I thought this thing sucked! We remodeled our house in 2014. We live in So California so we rarely use the heater. Somehow, ours has been locked for 2 years now. We were ready to call our general contractor again to replace... then I had an aha moment. I realized mine was locked! If yours is showing a lock (above am/pm)… hit NEXT, NEXT, NEXT, HOLD Now, I can't wait for my wife to be happy again if it ever gets cold again!
Once you’ve set everything for like say the weekday, are you suppose to circle the switch to ‘run’ or do I leave it alone. Im Confused on how to make everything final. Thanks!
I could never figure out why mine kept coming on less then 5 minutes after shutting off. I had never heard of the swing setting until now. My swing was set on 1 and now it is on 7. As you said it is not in the instructions. Thanks for showing that in the video. Maybe my light bill will go down then. LOL

I have an older model Luxpro PSP511 (NO LC) I had a second one - the exact same model - and all I had to do was pop it into place - No wire touching at all - just snapped it in the same place. Can I do the same with the LC version? Thanks.
I didn't cover this in the video, but the hold button allows you to do just that. It will override the program temps forever until you push hold a second time.

Could I use this to replace luxpro thermostat psp511la? The luxpro thermostat psp511la is having a hard time on the heat cycle (14 years old). Difficult to get it engaged and once it does, it won't turn off even when it passes the programmed temp.
Yes. This version is a direct replacement for your older model. However, the wiring does not hook up in the same order, so make sure you take a picture before disassembly.
I think it's pretty simple, and I like intuitive products. It could be easier if there was more buttons added for each specific purpose, but that would add cost and take up space.
After watching the videos. I started to fiddle with the thermostat for about an hour. Yup I figure it out! I have 4 of them. The last one was a problem. I did a hard reset and battery changed. @@vyp1053 I just pulled mine off the wall, and the clicking relay sound happens all internally in the thermostat itself using it's batteries. Either you have a defective unit, or the set temperature is not high enough. Try turning the temperature up 5 more degrees and see what happens. Also try new batteries.

If you didn't, here are the steps: Press and hold next, press hold, release both and the swing value should now be flashing., use the up/down arrows to adjust the value The meaning of the values is not in the manual. You will have to dig through their website to find that information.
What does it mean when both the word FAN and HEAT are flashing? I have it set for Run and the fan setting is on the ON position. I don't use the program feature on this.
I just had the Luxpro 511 installed and I hate it!! I am a senior and am home all the time. I don’t want it programmed and have to go through all those settings. I want the temp set the same all the time. My furnace has never cycled so often and it gets way too hot in my house. I have it on 69, and when I hit the hold button it’s saying 74.. I can’t afford that and can’t figure out how to set it for the 69 24/7 right now. I saw a video that said if you override the system it will only work until the next time setting. Please help????
The problem may be with the installation, so I hope it was done correctly. Use the up/down arrows to select the temperature you want, then press the hold button. Hold locks your temperature setting indefinitely. One thing to note is the current temperature is displayed until you start pressing buttons. You will not know what temperature is set until you press the up/down arrows, and the numbers start blinking. It will then revert back to the current temperature in your home after a few seconds. Also, thermostats must be set for electric or heat pump or gas depending on your type of furnace. Again, that should have been done during installation.

I don't know about your model, but the flashing "fan" on this unit means the fan is running. This is normal operation. The "heat" or "cool" also flashes when either one is running. I assume it is the same on yours because they are the same manufacturer.
My Luxpro keeps flashing and when I put it on daily program to change the temperature it won’t move up or down when I use the arrows. Please tell me what I’m doing wrong.
Sorry for the late response. I think your problem is that you have the temperature selector set to "off". It has to be set to heat or cool to change the programming. This allows you to set different patterns for heating or cooling.
I think you may have a defective unit. I cannot find any information for disabling the backlight. It comes on immediately when you press the up/down arrows or the HOLD/NEXT buttons, and then times out automatically.
You have to remove the front cover. Push on the tab in the middle of the bottom. Gently pull the bottom out and the front cover off. On the back you will see a set of option switches. Flip #2 to the left.
It keeps flashing fan on mine. Do you know if that messes with it cooling the temp down cause it’s like mine just stopped working. I had the lock button on it and got it off finally but not sure about why it is saying fan while flashing
The flashing fan word means you have the fan button set to "on". This will run the fan continuously, even if it is not heating or cooling. It will feel warm when the air conditioner is not running, or cold when the heater is not running.
Override is when you change the temperature manually. This will override the auto program, but only until it reaches its' next temperature change. I'll give an example. Pretend it is 3pm and you programmed the thermostat to drop the temperature to 71* at 5pm. You can manually change the temperature to 70* right now, but at 5pm the automatic program will take over and set the temperature to 71*. It is manual until the program has a change in temperature, then it takes over control again. I you accidentally enter manual mode, just rotate the dial to program mode then back to run. You will see the override word dissapear.
Set the temperature where you want it using the up/down arrows, then press the hold button. Hold will lock the setting forever until you remove the hold.
I also purchase any products that I can made in USA. Yeah companies want to save every cent they can by outsourcing, (sometimes in questionable fashion) but i’m of the same sentiment about supporting American infrastructure and jobs. It is asinine to burn hundreds of thousands of gallons of diesel hauling cheaply made products across an ocean to be used a few times, snd then end up in a landfill here somewhere. Most people don’t give a crap about this issue though so I figured i’d leave a comment

Yes, turn it to the run position. This is the only position it will actually work in, and allow you to close the lid.

When you take off the thermostat the wire labels should read RH, RC, Y, W, G, C, O, B in that order. If not, then you have to change the wiring also.

My filter change continues to flash even with a changed filter while all else seems not to work then. What do you suggest?

Hi - how do you change the battery? And what batteries do you use?
It takes AA batteries. Very easy to remove cover and change by pushing in on tab on bottom. Much easier than most thermostats.
I have mine set at 64 but it will go all the way down to 58 before clicking on the furnace! Why?

I'm sorry, it sounds like you have an intermittent problem. The issue could be the thermostat, or even in your heating/cooling unit.
