    Thanks very much for your detailed video Ruirod. My wife and I are contemplating the purchase of Superdelites as retirement presents to support some cycling adventures when we have more time! A big investment, so your video describing the bike has helped greatly and is the best I’ve watched! Keep up the good work!

      Hi Martin, delighted you watched the video to form your opinion about the bike. I also look for videos on products I'm interested to buy, especially if they're expensive.
      I can tell you I'm very pleased with the Superdelite and I covered 192 km on my last ride with some battery to spare.
      Cheers!

    Just ordered a Supercharger GT Rohloff. 🥳
    Videos like yours are very helpful, as the Riese& Müller homepage hasn’t much information or detailed pictures.

    The back rack standard for this bike is the MIK system if I am not mistaken. Very interesting to hear your comments about the tire repair!!! Again, all very helpful.

      Flyshacker, you’re right. I couldn’t recall the MIK reference while I was recording. It’s actually stamped on the rack itself but the bag was covering the letters. 😉

    Get a Gaadi inner tube for roadside repairs. It features two capped ends. That allows changing the tube without removing the wheel.

    • @ruirodtube
      @ruirodtube  3 роки тому

      I've heard about that but even with that kind of tube it still would be very difficult to repair by the roadside because the bike is so difficult to manipulate (37 km) - and impossible to turn upside down without breaking something on the handlebar.
      I've ended up adding a special patching liquid into the tube to protect it from punctures. Now I have three layers of protection - it should be enough. If it's one of those bad days that cuts through three layers of protection then I'll just call it quits and hail a taxi to return home :-)
      Cheers!

    Hi again Ruirod! Thanks so much for your comments on everything including the Klickfix. I'm on the verge of ordering a Basil Mik trunk bag, however I was only thinking only of bag height & I never considered the bag length encroaching on the seat. Looking at your seat position and the Klickfix has helped a lot, thank you. Is the Klickfix waterproof?

    • @ruirodtube
      @ruirodtube  3 роки тому

      Hi, the RIXEN KAUL bag (with Klickfix) is not waterproof but it comes with a separate yellow cover that is waterproof which you can fit over and around the bag when it rains.
      Cheers!

      Wait time and shipping fees to Au saw me grab a Nelson-Rigg motorcycle fuel tank mounted bag. It's snugly mounted on the rear rack using clips. I wrote a bit more about it here: electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/bags-compatible-with-superdelite-rack.40415/post-421279

    Hello, I wasn’t sure that a klick fix system could be fitted on the rear rack. Now I know ! What do you think of the HS version ? In France we are not allowed to ride on cycling paths with a speed bike so I didn’t choose the HS version. On the other hand I was ridden an emtb this morning on flat ground at 24 km/h and I was overtaken by a lady who seemed to make it easy. I am still hesitating ! Thanks again for this informative post.

    • @ruirodtube
      @ruirodtube  4 роки тому +5

      Hi Philippe, klick fix works perfectly. I'm happy with mine.
      The reasons why I didn't purchase the HS version are:
      1. It requires registration (like a motorcycle), insurance, license plate, rear view mirror and a helmet.
      2. You can't modify it because it has been homologated (not even change tire model).
      3. Like you said, you can't ride on bike paths with it. If you do and you have an accident you're responsible even though you might not have caused the accident and the insurance won't pay.
      4. The police can give you a ticket if you ride on bike paths. With the visible license plate you're exposing yourself to trouble.
      I don't believe the extra speed is worth the risks :-)
      Let me know what you've decided.
      Cheers!

    • @philippecanepa4509
      @philippecanepa4509 4 роки тому +2

      We reached the same conclusion regarding the risks involved. Furthermore I have compiled data from the Bosch range assistant and the HS version is just not doable with a single battery. I have watched your last post. An interesting one. I will go for the GX option because of the dropper post. When performing long distance rides, I like to slightly vary the position of the seat to make knees’ muscles and joints work in a different way. It eases the stress brought by the same repetitive movement. And more the price of the dropper seat itself is nearly the one of the whole package. I will not take the option with the fox float suspensions. If you already consider all these options the total price add up very fast and at some stage you have to say “ stop”. Have safe rides.

    • @ruirodtube
      @ruirodtube  4 роки тому +2

      philippe canepa thanks for sharing your decision about the HS Pedelec choice. It’s good to know you’re thinking the same.
      I was also interested in the dropper seatpost but I decided against the GX options because of the tires. If you’re doing long distance rides on hard roads you’ll notice tire noise, vibration and extra rolling resistance. Switching tires at the shop is possible but they’ll charge you for it and I wanted to avoid the cost of upgrading and then downgrading. Same thing goes for the pedals: they would be upgraded with the GX package and then I would have switched them to Shimano dual surface anyway. Too much wasted money IMO.
      The other thing I didn’t like was the decreased comfort: the saddle and the grips are more “sporty” with the GX option, meaning they have less support for your butt and hands.
      One last thing that dissuaded me was to use the Vario for mountain biking. The Vario doesn’t have enough gear range for that.
      So, I saved the money and dedicated the bike to X-country bike-path riding with limited off-road capability :-)
      Cheers!

      Hello again Ruirodtube, your approach is sounded. If we want to convert this bike into an emtb, the super delite mountain would have been a better choice then. I will probably revert to the former tires, with an additional expense of 60 euros ! They have a better puncture protection. On the other hand, they could prove to be unsafe on slippery trails or trails with ruts and ridges. And if one day I want to explore the trails of Scotland, I will fit the bike with the tires of the GX option. Cheers,

      A 5th point against HS is that some reported it's hard to keep the 45 km/h speed. Mostly it is just 40 km/h and even at warmer days it's getting frosty when riding for a while.
      Have fun and keep healthy with your beautiful bike!

    Nothing posted for a while Ruirod. Are you still happy with your R&M purchases?
    I also wanted to ask you which Bluetooth helmet you use. Any recommendation?
    I ordered a Superdelite Rohloff GX about 2 weeks ago from Schieren here in Lux.
    Maybe see you around Niederanven or Hesperange some time.

      Hi Eco Worrier (good pun), I don’t have much to say lately. I recorded a video about a long ride on the Superdelite Vario of 193 km but the quality was $#@t so I didn’t post it.
      I’m very happy with both R&Ms. My Cube has been at the bike shop for over 11 weeks to have the dropper seatpost fixed (yeah, that long), so I’ve been riding the Delite Mountain in the mud for which it is perfect!
      Have you received your Superdelite? Are you happy with it?
      I have the SENA X1 Bluetooth helmet and I’m extremely happy with it. No problems at all. I can listen to calls, music, etc. It’s light. It’s easy to charge. Highly recommend it.
      If you ride to Hesperange let me know. It would be nice to meet local riders! Cheers.

      @@ruirodtube Hi. Yes I received my superdelite just before Christmas. The 3 month prediction was 3 weeks in fact. I'm really happy with it (super delighted in fact). Been riding most days since then even in the cold weather. Saddle does not suit me though, so I need to change that. Really amazed at how well the lights work so I can ride any time of day (well - up until the 9pm lockdown currently).
      I want to try a long ride like you, maybe down to the Mosel, wasserbillig, echternach and back home on the cycle path. Will certainly let you know if I'm heading over to Hesperange.

    Why you choose the Enviolo vs Rohloff ? Do the bike discharge two batteries evenly such that both drain completely at the same time?

    • @ruirodtube
      @ruirodtube  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Matthew, I chose the Enviolo because the Rohloff E-14 electronic shifter isn’t compatible with the SmartphoneHub which I really wanted. I also saved some money although that wasn’t the primary reason.
      The Bosch system discharges 5% from one battery then automatically switches to the other battery to keep them somewhat balanced.
      Cheers!

    • @SentimentalMo
      @SentimentalMo 4 роки тому +1

      Ruirodtube What do you like about the SmartphoneHub? Not knowing anything regarding any of the display options, I thought I would get the Kiox or Nyon (if it’s worthwhile) as dedicated display and add a phone mount to use some kind of bike navigation app.

    • @ruirodtube
      @ruirodtube  4 роки тому +1

      Matthew, what I like about the SmartphoneHub is that your smartphone becomes the head unit.
      If you’re going to attach your smartphone to the handlebar you might as well get rid of the head unit and integrate the two.
      One other thing I like about it is that it keeps my iPhone charged without needing an extra cable.
      It’s simple and neat.
      Come to think of it, I might record a video on the subject. Thanks for bringing it up.
