- 1 million vs 1 million. DAMN! That is one hell of a fight and shows the true determination of the Soviet Army in WW2. This is my first time reaction to "Defence of Moscow" by Sabaton!

Surprised no one mentioned already but this is actually a cover, the original was written by Radio Tapok.
They did something similar with The attack of the dead men. Radio Tapok released his cover the day before of the official release of the original.
Awesome reaction as always.
Hug from Portugal
It is a bit funny the amount of reaction videos talking about this sounding just like Sabaton when they had nothing to with the song besides making a cover. You can almost tell it is translated from a different language as some of the language phrases are a bit odd.
And they also did Attack of The Dead Man together at Sabaton concert in Moscow, that was really cool
@@logirex sabaton has a very distinct sound. And it shows in this song. Very much so :). I know it is a cover yet they did make it their own. Loved it. Now I need to listen to Radio Tapoks original :)
I actually mentioned it in the outro ;). Thanks for the compliment!
@@VikingReacts FINALLY!!! I've been waiting for this for CENTURIES! But seriously, there are English subtitles, so I hope one day you'll get a reaction to Radio Tapok.
So impressed you recognised the Russian (Soviet) national anthem, in my first listen I recognised the song but didn’t realise it was the anthem
When I heard the song I recognised it from the game trench warfare😂
I'm surprised no one has really spotted this, but if you pay attention, they actually reference the name of the breakthrough operation that was to get through the defenses around Moscow: Operation Typhoon.
I've seen multiple people miss it, but after a bit of research on my part, I found it and saw how subtle it was.
The reference is there when he sings: "All the brave who stand against the typhoon wave." Again...its subtle, but its there.
Nobody who knows this missed it people just don't know it
Looking forward to seeing a video of them doing this live in Moscow. I don't think epic comes close to what it will be.
This is gonna be crazy!
I have no doubts it will rival 40:1 in Woodstock
Especially if its Radio Tapok lead singing on it
Considering that this song slaps harder than a goddamn Russian counteroffensive...we find ourselves in concurrence.
As You already said, this song is a cover of Radio Tapok song. And Radio Tapok is known for making covers, especially for Sabaton. Sabaton allowed him to release a cover to one of their songs (that was "Attack Of The Dead Man" if i'm not mistaken) BEFORE Sabaton released the original song. And later, during their world tour, they invited Oleg (That's a real name of Radio Tapok) to sing that song at their show in Moscow.
It was a Radio Tapok song! He made it in the sabaton style. And they liked it and made a cover of his song. By the way, he knows there is a video on his channel.
Stalin entrusted Zhukov with the command of the defense of Moscow.
You can also watch the original song by Radio Tapok. Usually he is doing covers for Sabaton songs, but not this time xD

Grigori Zhukov was promoted to marshal of the Soviet Union either close to the end or after World War II. He did hold the rank of general for the majority of the work but when it comes to military leaders typically referred to them by the largest right regardless of when or how they got it.
Zhukov was a Soviet general and Marshal of the Soviet Union.
Yes, this is the anthem of Russia. Special thanks to Sabaton for this. But the video had to be shot together with the Russians, then it would have turned out to be an epic action.
Don't forget to watch Radio Tapok's rendition! You haven't experienced a song about Soviet victory in WW2 until you hear it in the original Russian!
About "turning a tide/wave". Sabaton used this phrase in the "Panzerkampf" - "suffering heavy losses, the tide of war was turned"
And, as other commenters, I really appreciate you recognized our Anthem. Just few from about 100 or so of "DoM" reactions I saw noted that.
Fun fact: in the time where in real Anthem singing are the words of "be glorified our free Fatherland", immediately aftere these notes the "brown plague" starts to shrink freeing the Soviet territory.
Also, several notes of anthem are heard in the very beginning of the song - starting seconds before German officer looks to his pocket watch, and ending when the Soviet officer starts to smoke his cigarette.
82nd all the way next!
Hey Viking.
Just clarifying something, but back then, marshal was actually a rank _under_ general. Zhukov was both a marshal and general, as was, for example, Rommel.
The reason was that a marshal was usually only in charge of, perhaps, one or a few divisions, like Rommel being charge of 7th Panzer (aka "Ghost Division"). Zhukov was merely the highest-ranking officer in the field during the defense of Moscow, in that he had to use what men and units that were available to stop the German advance.
Now, to put things into perspective, unlike Napoleon, the German Army never made it to Moscow, the Red Army stopping the German Army approximately 15 miles (24.14 km) from the city limits. And, to make matters worse, Zhukov had very little armor and aircraft to work with, as the Ilyushin-8 heavy bomber was still being developed; the T-34 Main Battle Tank (MBT) was rushed out to service, as Zhukov had only a couple dozen KV-1 heavy tanks, and neither KV-2 heavy tank survived (they were damaged or destroyed by the Luftwaffe, as they guarded the two main roads to Moscow). By the time the T-34s started arriving by train, Zhukov was down to only 6 or so KV-1s left, though he did have other, lighter tanks, like the TU-85. The problem was that tanks like the TU-85 were undergunned for facing the Pz-IIIE, Pz-IIIJ, and Pz-IV. The reason why the T-34, and later the T-34/85 (which was built on a TU-85 chassis) were so successful, was that the angled armor of the tank could deflect all but the most direct of shots -- hugely increasing battlefield survivability. There are also stories of how Russian mechanics actually repaired damaged, but not destroyed, German Panzers in the field, and got them running again, to be used against the German army. Can you imagine: Using a tank in combat, it gets damaged, and you bail out, only to face your own tank later, only because the enemy repaired it, and got it working again? That would be one hell of a psychological blow, you ask me, lol.
Well, Viking, now you know a little bit more about the history of the Eastern Front during World War II! Cheers!
Remember those rabid Babymetal fans that you mentioned in an earlier video. Well, I am one of them. As this is a reaction to Sabaton, it is a good time to mention one of Joakim Broden's guest appearances. He is featured on Babymetal's "Oh! Majinai." Check it out. My favorite version is the Live at Budokan 2021 concert.
When I saw the video clip I loved it even more then when I heard the song😁 I missed your reactions man. Great to see you reacting again and to see you back again🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
Stalin was not a general, but a generalissimo))) This is the highest military rank since the time of the Roman Empire. It is rarely used, but this rank is also found in France, England, China and many other countries. Translated from Latin as "the most important"
4:18 TOMMY! My favourite guitarist (and singer!) ever! Tommy Johansson is an amazing musician
Glad to have you back Viking, I have missed your reactions, but I'm glad you took some time for yourself, it's always good to recharge!
Brilliant song, first time hearing this for me as well, very impressed!
Skål 👊
“Imagine seeing a line of soviet tanks”
No, Imagine a dense line of soviet soldiers after knowing about the attack of the dead men, and watching that one scene from the “Stalingrad” movie
This video is badass, when you watch Pär and Tommy singing alongside with that fierce look, so brutal. The Lion from the North for another Sabaton Wednesday.
За Родину,за Сталина!Так кричали русские))
Советские*
Yes, dude, it`s Russia anthem! You`re the first youtuber that recognise that!
Man I'm so looking forward to seeing a live performance of this song. Can't imagine it won't get people in a crowd super pumped
Cant belive you havent done Fields of Verdune yet. My personal favorite of the album. Also a hard bloody story.
Welcome back! Hope you enjoyed your holiday! The best way to start after holiday is of course Sabaton!! 🤘🏻😝
мужик в теме, даже еще раз специально прослушал гимн
Great reation m8. Nice to se you again. I cant wait to se Sabaton live at 31/1 2022 in Helsingborg. I hope they will play this song then. Even my wife start think they are good now after hear this song, she is from Belarus so in guitarr solo she was very happy when she hear Russian anthem. keep up the great work you doing whit reations!
you are the first who realized that the athem sounds in the song. Respect👏👏👏
7:19 You had to get up, comrade!
Radio Tapok 🤘
AND! I'm still waiting for the Winged Hussars. Not an official, but a cinematic clip.
P.s. And this is Wednesday! So I hope for a reaction to the Sabaton!
I watched so many reaction vids that didn't hear that the guitar solo had the Russian national anthem in it. Finally someone caught it! :)
Someone suggested a double reaction of 82nd All The Way I totally agree as I love both Amaranthe and Sabaton. A little fact about Henrik (the harsh vocals aka GG6), He had the coof and kicked its butt then went to Amaranthe manor and fired up the BBQ lol.
I think we have Covid to thank for the CGI action... otherwise I'm certain there had been much live acting.
Not really since Sweden doesn't have strict COVID rules and restrictions
@@unorthodoxspork5634 Do you live here? People still keep distance.
@@mudshark5393 Haven't seen that here at least (Stockholm)
@@unorthodoxspork5634 With a 8 person limitation on gatherings, it's hard to make movies with more than a few actors.
A live-action video like that would be very high budget tho
That metall anthem stuff i heard first in song "Stalingrad" of "Accept" band (New one without Udo) It was cool to!)
sabaton also did a cover of metallica, for whom the bell tolls
Oh?! I need to see that!
@@VikingReacts this is the only version i could find, no live version unfortunately ua-cam.com/video/JVxKAYA7WlI/v-deo.html
"All I see is a wall of tanks" yeah a lot lol listen to panzerkampf by sabaton next week plz thanks 😊
Tanks are lined up in thousands
As far as eye can see
Next one: DOUBLE reaction pls. 82nd all the way. From Sabaton and Amaranthe. If you want, you can go to a TRIPLE reaction and do the live version of the three Amaranthe singers with the Sabaton squad in Oslo, but it's up to you
so, the term field marshal is used generally as a term to say that the guy is like one of the top generals
Sabaton is amazing to have in ears when I work or go with the lawnmower.. The rytmic does it so easy and time goes fast.
It's Sabaton or Raubtier in my ears then (raubtier only sings in Swedish) but amazing band.
The Soviet soldier at the end shouts "Pobeda", which means Victory.
You know what would crank the epicness up to twelve? To have the Red Army Choir sing along in the background for this. I mean, they had the Great War Choir on stage already, but for this song in particular, the Red Army Choir would be beyond fitting.
Sabaton have create cover at music RADIO TAPOK Nice😊
The hockey song. Cccp always won ... greatings from Sweden😊

Actually this is cover to the RADIO TAPOK
As I mentioned and confirmed in the outro ;)
URRAH IS VICTORY CALL
It's like Avengers Endgame but it's World War 2
when the Europeans surrendered their capitals and countries to the Nazis, the Russians fought to the last. Never give up this is about Russians. I do not know a people more courageous and braver than the Russians. Russians are Spartans. God bless Russia!
most nations also fought to the death, or were overwhelmed by the blitzkrieg tactics, Russia managed to adapt to survive. Europeans never surrendered their capitals, they just werent able to defend it like russia did
Be very careful there. Whereas Russians never surrendered their capitals our countries to the Nazis, the Russians literally surrendered their lives to be Soviet.
A tiny bit of understanding may do you a world of good.
@@DGARedRaven
But the Soviets didn't want to genocide all the Russians, so I think I'm glad the Soviets won and the Nazis / Germans lost.
it was December 5th! snow
If you like Tanks, try Panzerkampf from Sabaton. My personal favorite...
I know it has nothing to do with this video but, if you want a good Viking metal song. I’d suggest “Hold The Heathen Hammer High” by Tyr.
Try Hail of Bullets sometime. Dutch death metal band covering WW2.
Russians say: there noway to retreat, Moscow is behinde us.
Complete (documented by witnesses) phrase by commissar Klochkov was: "Russia is huge, but we have no place to fall back: Moscow is behind us"
You will fight for The Reich!!!
Count me in.
Is it just me, or doesn't the guy in the tank a Putin-look alike??! Btw, Skåååål!!! 👌🤗🇸🇪👍
I was thinking the same thing😅
Yes, ”Skål!” means ”Cheers!”, but only as a toast as in ”Let’s drink” followed by actual drinking, not as a general greeting.
I know that. And that is why I am holding that horn. But to empty a horn every intro... a bit time consuming. I did it once in a video :p
That Soviiet Union's anthem was so awesome)
Video was demonitized because of it... WORTH IT ;)
Музыка гимна СССР - теперь гимн России. Слова только другие.
hallo .
je loopt achter man !
The Name of the country was USSR:Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
I Wish I could tell you about this battle, but it is really hard for me, to write about it in English.
Russian anthem has the same music as Soviet Union anthem.
So, is the same music itself, but what, different lyrics? I have no real knowledge of either, so I'm curious.
@@lifeliberty9235
Yes, you are right.
Lyrics are completely different.
original song, he did covers for several years- ua-cam.com/video/yw0jQBLbhLU/v-deo.html
Where are you from ( which country)?
So what? I'm still waiting for a reaction to Raido Tapok. WHERE IS IT?
I can tell you where it is not. It is not on Sabaton Wednesday. I did say I'd check that out as well...
@@VikingReacts Sorry... It's hard for me to understand your accent. 9 years of studying English at school does not help me. But I'm still waiting for it! :)
Here's a fact to think about: in one battle for Moscow, Russians died more than twice as many times as Americans died during the entire Second World War. So that you understand what was happening there. In figures, it looks like this: The Germans-killed, wounded and missing more than 500 thousand people, 1.3 thousand tanks, 2.5 thousand guns and other equipment, the Russians-Irretrievable losses amounted to 936,644 people, sanitary-898,689 people.
Ты сделал обзор на кавер Radio Tapok. Он действительно крут. Раз уж ты Викинг, должен оценить группу EINHERIA
I hope Putin awards Sabaton some medal for this powerful tribute to the the Red Army turning the tide of the war.
didnt Putin ban Sabaton for "being fascist" or something like that?
I'm not saying Sabaton is trying to brown-nose Putin in hope of getting some sort of ban lifted, but that second tanker, with the garrison cap and the red stars behind him, does bear a certain resemblance.

I was a bit disappointed with the music video. The look of it just kinda reminded me of a documentary from the 90's where they didn't wanna buy original footage, so instead the made some on their own. It's super CGI. On one hand you have music videos like Bismarck, which looks absolutely amazing (obviously, they had a sponsor, so the budget was bigger), but then you have this and it's just... meh.. The song is fucking amazing. The only thing I really like about the video are the scenes where it shows the map, and it looks like the map catches fire and the German advance is basically burning the map. That was awesome.
In native russian culture father is sun 🌞, mother - ground/soil. That’s why “motherland”.
the guy in the tank looks a lot like Vladimir Putin.

Здравствуйте.....
Hello :P
react to sabaton panzerkampf
Still no reaction to Tommy's stuff? Shame :P
This was definitely a great fight, though it is kinda hard to root for the Soviets knowing that they were technically worse than the Nazis. (Not saying Russians were bad, just the stuff Stalin, the Communists, the gulags, the mass executions, and how it spread to South America and Asia and what happened in those countries, it doesn't make me a fan of the narrative of communism) It's kinda like watching two evils duke it out and see which one was stronger.
EXACTLY my thoughts actually... Thanks for putting it down like that!
@@VikingReacts You're welcome. I love history, and songs made from Sabaton have helped given me respect for Russia as a nation and a people. Recently, I've seen a lot of videos of people from different countries around the world reacting to the story behind the Star Spangled Banner at Fort McHenry (quite a few of them Russians) and each one spoke of great respect to the people who died and what they fought for. Patriots come from all lands.
@@patrioticjustice9040 Agreed again. It's kind of weird how many people forget to place history in the context of the time. What do you think of that?
@@VikingReacts I think it's imperative that we learn history in all its aspects. There are too many schools out there that deem history "offensive" and just let teacher/activists rant about their political opinions instead, or they teach revisionist history. My own political professor in college told the class repeatedly that 9/11 was not caused by radical Islamists from Saudi Arabia or the plot conceived by Osama Bin Laden, but the act of "right wing terrorists." Then my history professor was one of those "the Holocaust never happened" morons during Holocaust remembrance week, and instead made us focus on the Rwandan genocide of the Tutsi; which, while was horrible, didn't come close to how terrible the Holocaust was.
Just an example of how I think in comparison to others I've debated. When most people think of the Japanese during WWII, the first thing they think of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki; for many, it's the only thing they know. Thus, they start crying about how "evil the US was" for doing that. They don't know about what the Japanese had done prior; the raping of Nanking, the massacre of Manchuria, the Bataan Death March, the cruel mistreatment of POWs, how they used villagers of the islands like Okinawa as meat shields and suicide bombers against Allied troops, etc. They don't know about how Japanese spies like Takeo Yoshikawa and Kokichi Seki spied on the Pacific fleet in Pearl Harbor for months before giving the signal to attack. Most people just say the US let Pearl Harbor happen so we could enter the war, which was a lie. They don't realize Japan had been planning the attack for months as part of a strategy to take US territory in the Pacific Islands, as well as control over Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii. They don't realize that the Japanese culture at the time highly frowned on surrender, and if the Allies went in via the shore and took the island village by village, city by city, the war not only would have been prolonged by months, maybe even a year, but so many people would have died, soldier and civilians (Gen. Korechika Anami wanted to arm civilians and children, even use training aircraft for kamikaze) Japan would have been wiped out; between the Soviets who came in and attacked Manchuko, and the Japanese belief of suicide over surrender.
Something else a lot of people don't know is how the atomic bombs not only spared a bloody massacre, but it also prevented an outbreak. A Japanese scientist from Unit 731 named Dr. Shiro Ishii experimented in germ warfare. He tested his germ warfare in Kaimingjie, and intended to repeat the process via plague infested fleas on Allied troop transports, medical and cargo ships. It was called Cherry Blossoms At Night. This was prevented when he received word that Japan had surrendered.
Like I said about Russians, I'm not saying Japanese were evil; I just can't support the narrative of the time. Rather than learn one single event and make decisions and beliefs around it, I want to learn what prior events led to it and why certain decisions were made.
@@patrioticjustice9040 Finally someone who gets my point. I fully agree and I learned something. I didn't know about the Cherry Blossoms At Night thing. Thank you for that!
