Great video with good detail. I also have a 2001 thunder cat that I recently got and the one issue I’m having is the tachometer dropping randomly while on the highway ( not throwing any code) and the resumes back to normal. What I’ve been reading is that it might be the CDI (or the wiring ,which I’ve checked). I was wondering if you had any input
Yo Matt! Great video and good info. Struggling right now with this exact same issue. Quick question - the stator plug on mine was completely melted and its hard to tell what wire goes where, They are all white wires so im wondering if there is a specific way these connect or does it matter what wire from the stator connects to the harness.
Im trying to do some self maintenance on the same bike. I recently noticed the hose at 6:20 to the left of your hand is loose. Not connected to anything. Is this the same on your bike ?
You do not always need to cut the wires on sport bike connector blocks, use a tiny paneling nail and gently tap it in where wires lock into the block. Often will easily release the wires just clean and polish wire terminals put grease on each one, then plug them into correct holes on new connector blocks ordered from ebay. bike will run like new assuming charging system is working. check every single connectoof course disconnect nattery before doing all this.check all connector blocks and wire contact points on any bike you get, ounce of prevention is worth ton of cure
I’ve got a 96 YZF600r... and I’ve been trying to get it running for weeks.. keep running into different issues and am chasing my tail at this point... super confused and not finding any info online.
the majority of "need to get my bike running" issues are common across the board. start with compression, fuel and spark. Spark check by plugs out of engine and grounded while engine cranks. compression check is a shop thing or buy the tool, then fuel, carbs are a bit of a pain, but try starting fluid and if that works, carbs bad. that should keep you busy :)
it's funny I actually had my 1992 do something very similar to me, I was on the freeway riding home one night and it just died I towed it home and then I swear the next day it started. Oddly enough that's why I ended up selling it lol
Can you help me brother please...new oil, plugs, anti freeze, and battery ...bike still won't fire up and stay running.. I can get it to fire with fluid that's all
Greetings I have a 98, which does not get a spark or current bovine wings ... we already changed the cdi, we thought that was that, we changed the sensor battery that goes in the lower part and neither, the sensors are good, the cloche and the the leg, someone has any idea that it could be
Hey man I have the same bike and I recently dropped it not hard but not it’s not going into first gear it’s started and everything works lmk if you have any idea this is my first bike btw

check service manual as a starting point, or consider taking it to a dealer if its a simple wire connection issue?

hello, how do these engines produce spark to the coils? does it use a wiring harness from like the stater or?
