This entire sequence of the film is a masterclass in film music and editing. It’s so beautifully done and holds up incredibly well all these years later
And very little dialogue, love how chingachook avenges Uncas without saying a single word to magua just goes in takes out 5 Huron and then magua with ease
@@dbev6275 Me too, personally I think Duncan's story arc was the best in the film, He initially hates Nathaniel for standing up to Him and "stealing" Cora away, but in the end Duncan not only sacrifices Himself for Cora, He also did it to atone for the wrongs He did to Nathaniel because He'd come to respect Him, and you get the sense that had Heyward lived, He and Hawkeye may have become friends
@@josephsarto689 Well the way i see it, Nathaniel didn't still Cora from Duncan because She was never His to begin with, early on in the film Cora clearly states that She had ZERO interest in Duncan other than as a friend, now if Duncan and Cora actually were a couple, engaged/married when Nathaniel showed up then it'd be a different story
What makes this soundtrack great is that it sounds like video game music. It doesn't have any of the false modesty or inbuilt irony that modern composers do. It is raw emotion. Just give it straight up. Normal ass chords. Big movements.
Trevor Jones and Randy Edelman deserve to go to Composer Valhalla for this one. The layering of different storylines and cultures converge in this thematic track to really sell the climax of this story. I don't believe this ending sequence has been topped in terms of historical drama's of this period some three decades later.

This movie reminded me to respect the significance of life, love, and death.
"I said to take me, TAKE ME! My compliments Sir, take Her and GET OUT!" - Major Duncan Heyward
What are they going to do to Duncan? Where's ALice?! ALICE!!!
I like how he redeemed himself for being a prick.

Why is stealing in quotes? He did steal Cora from him

Honour, loss, revenge all in one track.
This was actually based on a modern song, "The Gael" by Scottish musician Dougie MacLean.
Movie version adds way more base and a huge orchestra sound.

Wish this was on the original soundtrack instead of the weaker version.
Magua goes down like a chump to Chingachgook.
