Before my first birthday, WW3 almost kicked off with Russia, the IRA tried to murder me and my dad n his buddies, bombs left at petrol stations etc.. for years my dad checked for shoe boxes under his car! Then aged 6 it was the gulf war, then Africa and Serbia etc mid to late ,90s. Then 9/11 plus 20 year of illegal war now Russian conflict and IRA are back! I've never known life without war, conflict, death etc it's odd the same people tried kill me as a baby now are back too! I don't think I will ever see a whole decade of peace in my life. The fear of maybe soon becoming a war refugee myself as a British citizen because Russian escalation is scary. Sad times. Without the Czech Weapons, especially tanks (the Pz. 35(t) and 38(t) the Blitzkrieg in Poland and France wouldn't have been possible.
Not to mention that thousands of Chechs died during the occupation. Chamberlains only success was the strenghtening of the 3rd Reichs capabilitys and to encourage Hitler to go for it. Ultimately the apeasement lead to WW2 with especially Czechoslovakia beeing the last industrial stronghold at the end of WW2.

There's not a doubt in my mind that no doubt he was thinking of what to do to stay out of the horrors of war, but the problem is when dealing with a bully, on a school yard or an international playing field, one has to stand-up to the bully, call the bullies bluff without exception, especially on a damn global level, period.

As a result, one thing I DO fathom is why a lot of historical wars occurred and why they let things get to that point. There are people who I know are good, deep down, but are woefully naive and think ending a war over their very sovereignty "at any cost" is the best approach in the long-run-- not only for themselves, but for the rest of the free world.

As an American, who's probably a bit more on the "hawkish" side the older I get anyways:) Understand why Ukraine is standing up and not just giving things away, but I also get Russias point of view on the whole thing. I saw a good video here on YT a while back explaining everything, which goes back to NATO and Russia/Allies promised not to tread too far West as long as the USA/Allies did'nt tread too far East, and like it or not, the USA did tread closer than initially promised. I mean, maybe the US and its military international thinkers thought we needed too, but I at least know how one of our Presidents would react if Russia struck a deal with Mexico and/or Cuba again or something. I honestly don't know the answer, just now trying to comprehend all sides view of it though. Crazy world:)

@@geico1975 the argument that the USA & NATO 'promised not to encroach further East' shows how little many of us know about what NATO even *is*. NATO is a d e f e n s i v e p a c t. The only reason anyone would be afraid of a sovereign country joining NATO is if they planned on invading that country, taking their land and resources. Which Putin has obviously planned this whole time and, for anyone who possesses a set of eyes, has acted upon. This is a standard play out of the Putin (USSR restorationist) playbook: he planned on invading Ukraine and taking their land from them. And now he is doing it. He planned on invading Georgia and taking Georgia from the Georgians (now he has). He planned on invading Moldova and taking Moldova from the Moldovans (now he has). He planned on invading Armenia and Azerbijan and taking those countries from the Armenians and Azerbijanis (now he has). People bring up this absurd idea that the US would invade Mexico if it joined a defensive pact with China. It wouldn't. The US acknowledges Mexico is a sovereign country with a right to associate with whomever it wants. If the US didn't respect Mexico's sovereignty it would have invaded long ago to stop up the border issues we're having with them. The reality is Mexico doesn't want to associate with countries like China or Russia because it too believes in sovereignty of nations so its morals align with the US. It's not because the US coerces them. It's because they know who a better partner and ally is in reality. Why do you think Russia and China have no real allies?

@@geico1975 I hear you, but personally I don’t believe the Russian POV about “needing” to invade and take over Ukraine because of “Western expansion” eastward. For one thing, to legitimize that POV means to equate the spread of Western democracy with the spread of despotic totalitarianism. As if there were no difference between, for example, a country like France being your neighbor and a country like China being your neighbor in the 21st century-there clearly is. The neighbors of France have very little to worry about in terms of aggression while the neighbors of China-Taiwan, for example-have quite a lot to worry about. So I simply don’t concede this idea that Western democracy spreading eastward is somehow equivalent to Russian despotism spreading westward. The history of warfare is full of such examples where a brutal, unjustified aggressor uses false equivalencies to try to justify their actions.

Hearing some of their combat stories and seeing how it affected them was an amazing thing to be present for. So, after legit 45 minutes playing the game I shut it off, just put the disc away and never got it out again. It's essentially as clear cut as it could possibly get. Ukraine is a democracy. It's people have freedom of speech. They are an American ally. Russia is a brutal autocracy run by a murderous dictator. Russia has been invading and annexing territory from the countries around it. The country they decided to invade now is ukraine. Said American ally. I don't understand how people could possibly think it's ambiguous as to which Side we should supprort

Military alliance, as in, "when I am invaded, you help directly with your own military". Allies are NATO. Russia isn't such a brutal place, meet people from there, they won't have any illusions about their country but they aren't some oppressed North Korean peasantry. Most of them live normal lives like you and I, especially in the main population centers in the west. None of this changes the aggression of Russia in this case, they clearly invaded (as they did back in 2014, were you calling for war back then I wonder?).

There’s no rules when it comes to war… that’s just comfort talk from the corrupt politicians and rich not wanting to do the dirty work themselves. Why get blood on your hands when you can brainwash the people to fight your war? That ruski judging from his actions was in a high stress situation and the soldier on the left made a quick sudden move which in turn led to him opening up. I’m not saying what he did was right but both parties are in the shit and that means tearing your soul apart doing unspeakable things just to live another day. I doubt that Russian soldier “feels good” about his actions and he’s probably replaying that in his head when the bombs aren’t dropping and the bullets aren’t snapping and whizzing. That is if he’s not dead yet… My point is… war is hell and it’s easy to develop a hate for some Russian man who we will never know about. It's weird he recalled Chamberlain, but failed to recall that it was specifically his aggressor appeasement policy that caused the war to escalate. This might be the dumbest conversation on this topic by a major outlet. I understand being skeptical about American support of Ukraine, but the amount of dumb shit and references made in this clip is bonkers. Mentioning and sympathizing with Chamberlain is crazy. What do you mean he didn’t know about concentration camps? What do you think people who heard Hitler’s speeches about Germans being the “superior race” and reading what Hitler wrote about the Jews, thought Germany was doing when they captured areas with a lot of Jews? Maybe chamberlain didn’t think the concentration camps were as brutal as they turned out to be, but for sure he knew civilians were suffering physically under the Nazis occupation. Also, what do you mean you don’t know who is the good guy in Russia vs the Ukraine? It’s not clear that the party who invaded the other and is shooting rockets at apartment buildings, schools and hospitals is the wrong one? I get not wanting to get militarily involved in the situation and even not spending as much as we have, but to go the complete opposite way is stupid beyond belief.

I've seen their take in a lot of conversations and sometimes I wonder if conservatives are self-conscious about the dubious perception that historically they are "war hawks", and are always trying to compensate by being so aggressively anti-war that their answer to any country invading another is the victim should either lay down their weapons and let the invader whatever they please, or be victim-blamed for "perpetuating the conflict".

Just to make few moments clear:
    1. Guy executed with sledgehammer was a russian traitor from "Wagner". Wagners caught him and made example of him.
    2. Russian warrior who shot two ukrainian soldiers in a ditch was yelling at them to give up. They hang on to their weapons and did not give up. Maybe because of shock or something but in the middle of the battle when bullets are flying over your head you just can't risk it. Russian did everything he could to keep those two ukrainian warriors alive.

    • @SSPspaz
      @SSPspaz Рік тому +1

      100%. Very good observations.
For additional context, aside from the horrible method of execution and the huge ethical problems that come with extrajudicial executions by a private corporation, Wagner’s sledgehammer execution was a Russian prisoner who signed up to serve in exchange for a pardon of his sentence. He surrendered to Ukraine and Wagner considered that to be treason. Still terrible, but they weren’t executing Ukrainians like this in the video.
Second, the video of the Russian soldier coming up on the foxhole with 2 Ukrainian soldiers in it, IIRC the Russians had flanked their position so they didn’t expect an enemy coming from behind them. From what I understand, the Ukrainians in the foxhole were native Russian-speakers (as many Ukrainians are), and thought the Russian coming from behind them was a soldier on their own side. In the confusion, they didn’t drop their weapons and were shot as a result. Russia has done some terrible shit in this war, but I wouldn’t have considered that an execution. More like something that happens regularly in the fog of war.

Zelenskyy provoked Russia into this war.
They've been in conflict for over a decade. It's not like Putin just woke up one morning and decided to roll into Ukraine.
This has been building up for a long time. Russia was attempting to make a peace deal with Ukraine and Zelenskyy threatened to join NATO and arm Ukraine against Russia.
US and Western powers encouraged Zelenskyy to provoke Russia into full-scale war. The US and Western powers don't want Russia competing with them in the oil and gas market.
That's why they didn't waste any time destroying Russia's Nord Stream pipeline. Zelenskyy isn't an innocent victim. Ukraine was the most corrupt country in Europe, not a democracy, not a member of NATO, and Zelenskyy is guilty of many human rights violations. All of a sudden we're supposed to pretend that Zelenskyy is a good guy? The same guy that made his political opposition disappear, the same guy that imprisoned journalists that wrote bad stories about it, the same guy that banned Christian worship in Ukraine?

Bad takes about the war here. The fact that it's an expansionist war forced by a neo-colonialist Russia is not a 'liberal shit-take'. That's simply what it is. Just because liberal media lies about stuff a lot doesn't mean they're lying about why this war is happening. I didn't get my opinion from the media. It comes from historical context, the coming economic problems in the world, and understanding how Putin and his regime have always operated. Anybody who honestly believes The US or NATO 'forced Russia's hand' hasn't been paying attention or thinking about this very carefully-- or they are victims of Putin's far-reaching propaganda machine.
