Hi Lindsay! I just wanna say you're a huge inspiration. I watched your querying journey videos, saw how it was an uphill battle for you, then skipped to 2025 and here you are as a published writer! As someone who's gonna query for the third time at the end of this month/beginning of March, it's such a nice thing to see, seriously! Thank you for being so candid with your experiences. Wishing you the best of luck in 2025!!
That is SO kind of you to say, thank you for watching! Your comment literally made my day and I'm rooting for you SO HARD!!!
I totally feel you on giving back but not knowing how. I have chronic fatigue and fewer hours in my day than most people. But I really wanted to give back, so now I volunteer at my local food shelf two hours a week.
For my reading this year I have two goals; read more translated works, and read books that have been recommended by friends.
those are great goals!
Love the goals! I've been seeing the category wheel a lot lately (I spent all of January consuming content on planning for the year, creating better habits, glowing up, etc), so I think I want to incorporate something like this quarterly. As for my goals:
Writing: Pitch my book to an agent by April, Work on publishing a serial on my website, get involved in my local writing community
Reading: Finish all the series I started (seriously, I'm trying to pitch a series, but I haven't continued with most of the series I started reading? At this point it's like, karmic...)
Life: Eating more anti-inflammatory foods, planning more adventures!
Hope you have an Abundant 2025!
That’s a great goal list! Good luck with them!
The way I’m absolutely feral for and want to beta read PROJECT PYRO! Also love GRANDMOTHER’S GUIDE and CRIMSON GIRLS! I want to read everything! Sounds so good! I feel you on writing a new draft of a novel! One of my goals, too!
I also love your charity goal! Volunteering with a writing organization would be a good idea!
Impressed by your reading goals, too! I have the ebooks for LIES WE CONJURE (haven’t read yet) and TELLER OF SMALL FORTUNES (read in January and really enjoyed).
Some 2025 goals:
- Read 100 books (already read 14)
- Be the best writing instructor I can be for the 3 classes/workshops I’m teaching so far this year
- Create an author/screenwriter website with freelance services advertised (so far, sensitivity reading and manuscript critiques)
- Enroll in a copyediting certificate program later this year (as a possible way to grow my freelance business)
- Write and submit more short stories
- Finish grant application for disabled screenwriters due Feb 26th
- Write a new TV pilot (already doing this for a secret project thing)
- Finish first draft and maybe revisions on my YA gothic horror novel
2025 Goals I Can’t Control:
- Keep querying my dissertation novel until I hopefully get a literary agent this year
- Get into one of the three TV writing fellowships I already applied for (applied to 5 total last year and got ghosted/rejected from two of them, haha)
what a great list! Good luck with your 2025 goals!
Awe that charity goal is great! Crochet is a great idea. If you really love making things like chickens or goats like I saw in your previous reals, you could even check in with food banks, schools, etc and see if anyone does gifts for families in need around holidays! Can you imagine crocheting a little stocking and filling it with barn animals for a kid or toddler? So cute! Or giving away little crochet animals for Halloween as an option next to candy!!!
I always do ten goals (knowing I'll only ever do like two of them) 2023 I did 30% of my goals and last year I did 22%. So I have ten goals but the real goal is to do more than last year. Do like, 23% of my goals 😂. I have things like reading 50 books (and every book I read counts even if I don't hit 50!) write chapters in my story swaps, design my own crochet patterns and save money.
OMG I love that idea!!!! I just screamed! haha
good luck with your goals as well!
Reading goal: just making sure I’m always reading something. Writing: I finished my first manuscript (freaking finally) and my goal is to edit it at least twice and then figure out what I’m going to do with it and start my next story. 😅
That’s such a great goal! Finishing a manuscript is SUCH a huge accomplishment, congrats on doing it!
awww I love your charity goal! 💕 That is such a lovely thing to include! Also I would say that if you even thought to include it that means your super-villain title is hereby revoked. Sorry, I don't make the rules 😅
hahah well that does make me feel better
Absolute unpopular opinion- I looove following series as they come out. It's a JOURNEY and the suspense makes the awaited book more impactful.
I'm so happy you love it! haha
Good luck with your 2025 goals, this was such an enjoyable watch!
thank you, and same back atcha!
Those sound like some fun but pretty challenging goal! Can't wait to hear how they go! And I think your charity goal is really cool, I think I might try to implement something like that! I don't typically set yearly goals, my mind meanders too much for that, so I trying to set quarterly goals this year. And for this quarter I really just want to finish writing my novel and start outline another book.
I think quarterly goals are a great idea!
Love the charity goal, and good luck on clearing your TBR and project pyro!!
Thanks so much!
I made a resolution bingo card - so I don't feel guilty about missing some goals, so long as I still get a bingo. 😅
oh that's so fun!
I agree I love binge reading!!!!! And I need to read the way of kings too!!!
yesssss
Yay!! I'm glad you have been in less pain! You got this! I also want to finish a first draft of one of my stories this year.
Wishing you well with all your reading (:
Thank you so much! You got this too!
Lindsay!! this is lovely. could you do a video about how you find all your options as "freedom" vs overwhelm and how you find the fun in each project!? id love to hear more about your perspective and what makes writing fun for you
Great idea!!
My goal is to finish editing/writing my YA post-post apocalypse book!!! I've been working on it for a year and a half (though six months of that was a break to work on MFA stuff) But I want to query it is 2026!! We'll see lololol. Also I LOVE the stormlight archive. I finished the fifth book in december, and i'm not spoiling anything, but the only place I ugly cried while reading that series was in the fifth book. Twas good. I will be in my thirties when the next one comes out lol.
omg a post POST apocalypse?! Interesting! Good luck with your goal
and omg ahhhh now i'm scared about the stormlight archives!!! D:
Hoping 2025 is pure magic for you Lindsay! You should post your genrethon so people can join in 😊🎉❤
thank you! And that does sound like fun!
I love the charity goal!!! Good luck!!
thank you! And best to you!
This was a fun video to watch with great ideas. Thank you ❤
I'm so happy you liked it!
Team binge reading ! 🥰
hey hey!
the charity goal is so cool
i hope i can do it!
My goal is to finish polishing my current manuscript and starting in the query trenches!
heck yeah!
I'm reading Stormlight Archive for the first time this year!! (I'm following Brandon Sanderson's suggested reading order so they'll be a little spread out between other books of his in the Cosmere, but I'm so excited!! I'm currently on Way of Kings)
oh fun! i love that! I think i'm all caught up except for stormlight, and all the short stories/novellas
I love this 🫶
Have you ~ Seen the book cover for ~ Lead me where the light is ours by N . GALILEA? One of the most empowering ~ inspiring 🌟books ~ Blurb carries it.
Hi Lindsay! Love your videos. ❤ My writing goal is to get my subscription up and running. (Still trying to decide between Patreon, Substack, and Reamstories.) Reading goal is to read 25 books from my tbr. (Already halfway thru my 4th book!) and Lifestyle is just to get my butt to the gym whenever I can. (Not starting that one til the weather warms up 😃)
