The Rain Song would be amazing structure-wise with the intricacy of the guitar. It's really a guitar composition, whereas No Quarter is more of a band piece.
Most of zeppelins discography is a masterpiece. If not all. There are so many subtleties that are overlooked in all of zeppelins songs. The depth and musicianship and artistry are second to none. The younger generation is socially conditioned to the bullshit quantized repetitive pop nowadays that a lot of zeppelins tunes turn them off or they just don’t know or can’t comprehend. But for those of us with true ears for music and sound, we know how heavenly zeppelins music really is. You can hear the difference even when it comes to just the tone quality of each instrument and the touch of the musicians. These guys were world class and on a level of their own higher than most bands if not all bands have ever reached. Zeppelins music is sublime and totally exquisite. Not a single ounce of corniness. It’s pure poetry and art through sound. Some of zep is an acquired taste but once you truly hear it and experience every layer of sound individually but also together in harmony at the same time you’ll realize that these guys created some of the best music of all time. I don’t think we’ll see a band this good for a long time if not ever. Same with pink floyd and the Beatles and a handful/short list of other bands that have reached this level of mastery. You just don’t hear music this good anymore. It’s lacking soul today. It’s all expressionless electronically quantized repetitive trash that is poisoning young ears.
I have info about this song. This is my favorite Zeppelin song. I know, let the disagreement comments begin.... I was very lucky to have met Page in 2008. My Dad is friends with Billy Gibbons, who is very good friends with Jeff Beck who is a life long friend of Page. Long story short, this being my favorite song I ask what guitar he used. And the answer, all except the solo was the telecaster Jeff Beck gave him in the yard birds. Solo is a 72 hardtail Stratocaster.
You mean the Tele Fender just made a sig? The Dragon? I read it was demolished at some point and that page used the neck for the Black B-Bender Tele he used later on

Joe Bolick I think so Fender recently introduced a Jimmy Page Telecaster, well actually two, the Yardbirds Tele in two moments in time.The First is the Guitar how it looked when he played in the Yardbirds, the second is how it looked when he played it in Led Zeppelin

What's actually quiet interesting, if you listen the TSRTS version of Dazed and Confused and if you compare the San Francisco part to the 6:17-6:52 part in Achilles last stand, they're actually quite similar

Check out the version of Dazed and Confused from The Song Remains the Same soundtrack. Just before Page brings out the bow, there's a kickass groove which is one of the main melodies in Achilles before Achilles was really written. It's the best part of that entire jam.
Looked specifically for this comment. Achilles was born out of an interlude from the mid section of Dazed and Confused live. They were refining this song for years.

The "ah-ha" moment was one of those magical "remember exactly where you were and what you were doing" snapshots that I treasure greatly.
My absolute favourite Zep tune. I am always surprised how many people don’t know this one. Nicely done Robert! YES YES YES please do the solo - so much Pagey goodness in there to explore. Lastly (for me) the Tele was probably the closest - but i think i enjoyed the strat the most (i’ll say it again that Strat is gorgeous - so i may have been listening with my eyes there)
The rover! Also I think it’d be cool to do a video on the overlooked “mess ups” in Led Zeppelin songs. The bass drum squeak in since I’ve been loving you, the phone ringing in the background of the ocean, the cough 😂 at the end of in my time of dying, the airplane in Black Country woman, jimmy forgetting to play the rock n roll riff at the last phrase and just playing the open d string, how they “forgot” the right time stamp for how many more times so it’d actually get radio play. Lol tons more I’m sure I’m forgetting.
Jimmy scuffing the transition from verse to intro riff in Misty Mountain Hop. I love this kind of detail too, it’s like a sign of how “real” it is, if that makes sense.
I'd love that too. The "mess ups" keep it real. I leave them in my recordings, it's difficult too do this with the temptations of today's tech, but it keeps it real. Real is missing in today's music.
I love Dyer Maker. That’s my favorite Page solo. Something about the emotion he conveys in that solo is just amazing. And that drum intro gives me chills every time. Wonderful overlooked Zeppelin song
Dyer Maker is always very interesting if you know the backstory behind.. the reason it sounds so unique and tempo is that everybody was jumping on the Bob Marley and Wailers bandwagon the Clapton did it with I shot the sheriff from461 ocean boulevard more people were getting that kind of reggae Vibe going at the time. even Zeppelin want to do a reggae style tune the only problem was John Bonham pounded the skin so goddamn hard that he could not get a rhythm shuffle in a ska or reggae kind of style.. they took take after take after take but he could not get that Jamaican reggae vibe. so finally at the end they just did what they did and they said okay that's it we tried it ain't going to work and Dyer maker was born. you can hear how hard he hits those skins he just was not capable of hitting lightly LOL..

Whenever I watch these Led Zeppelin videos you immediately take me back to my teen years learning these songs. The Achilles Last Stand intro is one of my favorites to play due to its simplicity, yet those two arpeggios are quite powerful. Then bam! The song kicks in to a much higher gear.
Presence rules - has been my fave since High School (Class of '79) just dated myself. Another recent un-buried treasure is "St. Tristan's Sword" - Rough mix from the Deluxe Edition of the Coda outakes LP. Listen to the groove of Bonham & Jones - great instrumental jam track.
One of my long time favorites. Another overlooked song I don’t hear much about, the solo in In The Evening gives me chills. Carouselambra also has some amazing guitar parts.
THE WANTON SONG IS COOL. The parts after the verses( hard to call them the choruses because they are so unlike what a chorus usually is) has the jazzy guitar. The left side of the spectrum he plays the straighter chords The right side he plays same chords adding a riff to it. Last layer he runs in thru a LESLIE ORGAN ( thingy) . It resembles a key board. I don’t know if you have noticed, but I think several parts of the song were kind of developed from the jams on dazed and confused. Especially from the 1973 to the 1975 gigs.
We listened to Levee and Achilles driving to a New Years Eve party last night, so it's great that this shows up in my feed! Achilles' is perhaps Jimmy's greatest creation. Bonzo was such a beast in this song too, as always. But in this one probably his fastest rolls, incredible playing. Got to the party and played a recording of Levee for a 12 yr old beginning drummer there. He'll be working on that today for sure. Another Zep fan created last night.
A brilliant track from a brilliant album. I remember listening to the full 'Presence' album premier on Alan "Fluff" Freeman's Saturday BBC Radio One show, in the U.K., on 3rd April 1976. Then, just over three years later, I saw Zep perform 'Achilles Last Stand' live at Knebworth on 4th August 1979. Brilliant.
What I love about your guitar playing Rob is the freedom of your right hand technique. Virtually all the other guitar channels feature "what I call the "nimmy immy" right hand technique. Yes, it's brilliant for shredding however, it sounds absolutely lame on anything that needs a proper rhythm part. Many modern guitarists are so used to the "even pick technique" they are totally lost trying to emulate many , in particular, 70s players. Page is a classic example of this and it's quite possibly why you are so drawn to hisplaying on a subconscious level. I love how, ala page, your right hand "flays" those strings when it's needed and backs off when it isn't. Now yes, some would say that leads to a certain "looseness" in one's playing technique, that doesn't mean it's out of time. Yes, taken in isolation it might sound a tad like it wanders timing wise, in the context of the tracks though, it sits perfectly in the right pockets. It tickles me no end to see some blindingly brilliant technical guitarist pick up an acoustic and they sound, well technically perfect and utterly bereft of anything resembling emotion. It's so damnably "rinky dinky dink" when it should be an expression of one's feelings. A classic example of it , is people covering John Martyn's music, they play all the right notes in the right order and somehow completely miss the point of his playing. The likes of John Martyn, Page, Kossoff, they ripped the notes out of the guitar or they kissed them tenderly into life. It's brilliant to see someone from your generation who intrinsically understands that about guitar. I am willing to bet you understand what I mean by, no-one could "flerp" all Kossoff on say "Come Together In The Morning". How many guitarists can actually play Koss' solo from the song "Free Me" without a shed load of extraneous string noise? Koss was an incredibly gifted Spanish style player and that's the one solo he played that shows that off. In short, keep that right hand loose Rob, it's so refreshing to see someone who actually "plays" the guitar rather than tickles the damn thing like it's a seriously pissed off cat. Oh and underrated Zep song, "Down By the Seaside", some gorgeous guitar parts on that song.
You are right Robert, this Album is underrated, I checked it out and it is really amazing, so I bought the whole album, just want to mention that videos like this are the best promotion for good music and it is a crime to take it down because of copyright stuff....
The riff from this song was taken from the "San Francisco" bit in the middle of Dazed and Confused from their live album "Song Remains the Same" you can find the like 25 minute long performance on youtube and the riff that was used as Roberts vocal line begins at around the 6:30 mark in the performance.
It’s great to see the younger generations find the mighty blimp!!! Achilles Last Stand is epic!! The song has that driving beat that takes you on a journey!! I was at the July 24, 1977 Sunday show in Oakland Ca. The final show in the US. The one song I love for you to visit is The Song Remains the Same!! So powerful live!! Rock on.
Bron-Y-Aur Stomp! The Les Paul definitely has more attack and clarity, and definitely sounds like the dominant tracking choice, but the '63 sounded pretty darn good as well! These are really cool, and I appreciate the history lessons. Thanks for all of the effort you put into your content!
Robert, I think you've hit on something great with the Zeppelin Friday series. If you're a Zep fan, there really are no underrated or under underappreciated songs...you appreciate everything these guys did. That being said, I would be interested to see you explore The Rover and The Wanton Song. The Rover seems pretty basic, but most miss the arpeggiated section starting at the F#m (bridge or pre-chorus) and the solo is just pure joy. The Rover sounds like a Les Paul going through a Marshall, but DAMN HARD to replicate that low gain sound. The Wanton Song has a great chord progression done with a very cool Leslie effect which can be hard to duplicate and really highlights Page's mastery in the studio and as a producer. Let's keep this series going. And, when you get bored, expand it to a British Series to include Pink Floyd, Bad Co., etc. Great work!

For the tone section, I think it’s more of a single coil sound, and between those the tele sounded closer to me. But given the tracks, maybe they were blended. Tea for one is also one of these overlooked songs, except Bonamasa made a live cover of it, so maybe not?
It's a toss up on which guitars were used.. could it be a blend of the Les Paul and the Tele?? All 3 seemed very close.. each guitar had that element the other guitars didnt
How about "Hots On For Nowhere" Robert? .. one of my all time favourite Led Zeppelin tracks from my favourite Led Zeppelin Album. Such a great mixture of timings and styles, all gelled together with superb performances by all four members.
Hey Robert, I appreciate your enthusiasm for the Mighty Led Zeppelin!!!👍 However any true Zeppelin fan KNOWS that this Masterpiece (V accurate description) IS NOT Overlooked by any means!!! Couriosly Presence sales were not what they should be. Its ARGUABLY their best album, musically the band was on fire! As the members described it was a time of desperation, kinda...Recorded in just 18 days , a marathon so to speak...the studio was only available for that period of time and they didn't want to wait....the reasons escape me...but I remember Page talking about it, and saying it was non stop, practically slept in the studio..may be their best song🤷♂️but as everyone knows how do you really pick a Mighty Led Zeppelin's Best song???

The song was born out of a music piece they use to play in the medley of "Dazed and confused". In "The song remains the same" Plant sings "San francisco" lyrics with it......It later evolved to "Achilles last stand". It is known and there are videos on youtube as "Led Zeppelin - San Francisco".......It's my favourite Led Zeppelin music piece!!
You have picked a subject I could go on for hours discussing, the Presence album. Something that many dont really pick up on is its parallels to Led Zeppelin III. Both albums were overlooked as they were very different, both start with very heavy, bass chugging folklore oriented rockers (Immigrant Song/Achilles last Stand), delve into an unexplored genre or genre's compared to the previous albums (folk and acoustic on III/50's rock and roll on Presence, namely candy store rock). Also, lyrically and stylistically, Tea For One becomes almost a "sequel" to Since I've Been Loving You ("workin from 7 to 11 every night"/"Workin 24 hours"), as if the protagonist from the former is now single and lonely in the latter.

If you’re going to seriously delve into a Led Zeppelin series you could try some live stuff as well as some out takes or left over pieces that didn’t quite make the cut. For live you could perhaps do a Dazed And Confused episode where you try all the different extra riffs that went into the live version. Again great stuff man, keep em coming.

For LZ, I'd say In Through The Out Door is my favorite album as it's just so different for them. This is IMHO Zeppelin's finest hour. Most of the riffs and vocal parts came from the jams they did during Dazed and Confused over the years, so it wasn't one night of immaculate inspiration. All 4 guys are firing on all cylinders FOR 10 FREAKING MINUTES. Thanks for recognizing this song. MY favorites are all of Physical Graffiti and Since I've Been Loving You from the movie version of Song Remains The Same. And the Strat sounds best.
Presence was the album that turned me into a die-hard Zeppelin fan. I bought the album at a Stop 'N' Go (yes, the convenience store) in Houston, TX back in '76 after I read some of the lyrics to Achilles in Circus magazine. I put the song on when I got home and Holy Shit! I was hooked. And like you, Achilles has become my favorite Page solo. Two songs you may want to look at are The Rover and The Wanton Song, both from Physical Graffiti, but of course you know that. :) I always felt that both songs deserved radio airplay.
Personally I always heard influences of Led Zeppelin in Tool. People often think of Led Zeppelin as just Blue-Rock, except harder and faster, but they were also very progressive and inventive. Always developing and innovating. Songs like Stairway To Heaven, Kashmir, No Quarter and Achilles Last Stand are these sweeping, atmospheric, dramatic, epic musical journeys with the complex organic changes, phrases and scales. Tool do that to a great extent in their albums starting with Lateralus to 10000 Days to Fear Inoculum. Tool are one of the most progress alternative/metal/rock bands out there. Its so cool that Tool did a cover of No Quarter, which I think is great.
Well, this time is not so easy to tell which one is the closest one... it could sound silly but probably the main riff is played on at least two different guitars, and one of them could be the Strat... Can't wait for the next video of this serie, whatever it will be! Love LZ and your analysis are great!
I bought the album on it's release, and when I listen to Achilles last stand now it's sounds like it was recorded last week, it's in my top ten of zeppelin songs, thanks for the review.
In a interview Page told a story that Jones told Jimmy that he would not be able to find a scale to play over these chords and riffs , then Page said I found one ! Cool story . I don’t know what guitar but I like the les ,. So was the song by Bob Segar and heart barracuda had that feel riff

The bass drum squeak in since I’ve been loving you, the phone ringing in the background of the ocean, the cough 😂 at the end of in my time of dying, the airplane in Black Country woman, jimmy forgetting to play the rock n roll riff at the last phrase and just playing the open d string, how they “forgot” the right time stamp for how many more times so it’d actually get radio play. Lol tons more I’m sure I’m forgetting.

I'd love that too. The "mess ups" keep it real. I leave them in my recordings, it's difficult too do this with the temptations of today's tech, but it keeps it real. Real is missing in today's music.

I love Dyer Maker. That’s my favorite Page solo. Something about the emotion he conveys in that solo is just amazing. And that drum intro gives me chills every time. Wonderful overlooked Zeppelin song

Dyer Maker is always very interesting if you know the backstory behind..
the reason it sounds so unique and tempo is that everybody was jumping on the Bob Marley and Wailers bandwagon the Clapton did it with I shot the sheriff from461 ocean boulevard more people were getting that kind of reggae Vibe going at the time.
even Zeppelin want to do a reggae style tune the only problem was John Bonham pounded the skin so goddamn hard that he could not get a rhythm shuffle in a ska or reggae kind of style..
they took take after take after take but he could not get that Jamaican reggae vibe.
so finally at the end they just did what they did and they said okay that's it we tried it ain't going to work and Dyer maker was born. you can hear how hard he hits those skins he just was not capable of hitting lightly LOL..

Whenever I watch these Led Zeppelin videos you immediately take me back to my teen years learning these songs. The Achilles Last Stand intro is one of my favorites to play due to its simplicity, yet those two arpeggios are quite powerful. Then bam! The song kicks in to a much higher gear.
Presence rules - has been my fave since High School (Class of '79) just dated myself. Another recent un-buried treasure is "St. Tristan's Sword" - Rough mix from the Deluxe Edition of the Coda outakes LP. Listen to the groove of Bonham & Jones - great instrumental jam track.
One of my long time favorites. Another overlooked song I don’t hear much about, the solo in In The Evening gives me chills. Carouselambra also has some amazing guitar parts.

THE WANTON SONG IS COOL. The parts after the verses( hard to call them the choruses because they are so unlike what a chorus usually is) has the jazzy guitar. The left side of the spectrum he plays the straighter chords
The right side he plays same chords adding a riff to it. Last layer he runs in thru a LESLIE ORGAN ( thingy) . It resembles a key board. CHECK IT OUT . THANKS

I don’t know if you have noticed, but I think several parts of the song were kind of developed from the jams on dazed and confused.
Especially from the 1973 to the 1975 gigs.
We listened to Levee and Achilles driving to a New Years Eve party last night, so it's great that this shows up in my feed! Achilles' is perhaps Jimmy's greatest creation.
Bonzo was such a beast in this song too, as always. But in this one probably his fastest rolls, incredible playing.
Got to the party and played a recording of Levee for a 12 yr old beginning drummer there. He'll be working on that today for sure. Another Zep fan created last night.

A brilliant track from a brilliant album. I remember listening to the full 'Presence' album premier on Alan "Fluff" Freeman's Saturday BBC Radio One show, in the U.K., on 3rd April 1976. Then, just over three years later, I saw Zep perform 'Achilles Last Stand' live at Knebworth on 4th August 1979. Brilliant.
What I love about your guitar playing Rob is the freedom of your right hand technique. Virtually all the other guitar channels feature "what I call the "nimmy immy" right hand technique. Yes, it's brilliant for shredding however, it sounds absolutely lame on anything that needs a proper rhythm part. Many modern guitarists are so used to the "even pick technique" they are totally lost trying to emulate many , in particular, 70s players. Page is a classic example of this and it's quite possibly why you are so drawn to hisplaying on a subconscious level. I love how, ala page, your right hand "flays" those strings when it's needed and backs off when it isn't. Now yes, some would say that leads to a certain "looseness" in one's playing technique, that doesn't mean it's out of time. Yes, taken in isolation it might sound a tad like it wanders timing wise, in the context of the tracks though, it sits perfectly in the right pockets. It tickles me no end to see some blindingly brilliant technical guitarist pick up an acoustic and they sound, well technically perfect and utterly bereft of anything resembling emotion. It's so damnably "rinky dinky dink" when it should be an expression of one's feelings. A classic example of it , is people covering John Martyn's music, they play all the right notes in the right order and somehow completely miss the point of his playing. The likes of John Martyn, Page, Kossoff, they ripped the notes out of the guitar or they kissed them tenderly into life. It's brilliant to see someone from your generation who intrinsically understands that about guitar. I am willing to bet you understand what I mean by, no-one could "flerp" all Kossoff on say "Come Together In The Morning". How many guitarists can actually play Koss' solo from the song "Free Me" without a shed load of extraneous string noise? Koss was an incredibly gifted Spanish style player and that's the one solo he played that shows that off. In short, keep that right hand loose Rob, it's so refreshing to see someone who actually "plays" the guitar rather than tickles the damn thing like it's a seriously pissed off cat. Oh and underrated Zep song, "Down By the Seaside", some gorgeous guitar parts on that song.
Keep doing them, this is a great series!

You are right Robert, this Album is underrated, I checked it out and it is really amazing, so I bought the whole album, just want to mention that videos like this are the best promotion for good music and it is a crime to take it down because of copyright stuff....
The riff from this song was taken from the "San Francisco" bit in the middle of Dazed and Confused from their live album "Song Remains the Same" you can find the like 25 minute long performance on youtube and the riff that was used as Roberts vocal line begins at around the 6:30 mark in the performance.
I say it was the Les Paul is the closest sound probably due to the higher output humbucker’s 🍺🤩👍🏼

I was at the July 24, 1977 Sunday show in Oakland Ca. The final show in the US. The one song I love for you to visit is The Song Remains the Same!! So powerful live!! Rock on.

Bron-Y-Aur Stomp! The Les Paul definitely has more attack and clarity, and definitely sounds like the dominant tracking choice, but the '63 sounded pretty darn good as well! These are really cool, and I appreciate the history lessons. Thanks for all of the effort you put into your content!
Robert, I think you've hit on something great with the Zeppelin Friday series. If you're a Zep fan, there really are no underrated or under underappreciated songs...you appreciate everything these guys did. That being said, I would be interested to see you explore The Rover and The Wanton Song. The Rover seems pretty basic, but most miss the arpeggiated section starting at the F#m (bridge or pre-chorus) and the solo is just pure joy. The Rover sounds like a Les Paul going through a Marshall, but DAMN HARD to replicate that low gain sound. The Wanton Song has a great chord progression done with a very cool Leslie effect which can be hard to duplicate and really highlights Page's mastery in the studio and as a producer.
Let's keep this series going. And, when you get bored, expand it to a British Series to include Pink Floyd, Bad Co., etc. Great work!

Hell yes to a solo vid! I never thought of it being a strat song but i kind of makes sense.. I naturally draw myself towards stratsounding songs unconsciously 😎👍
For the tone section, I think it’s more of a single coil sound, and between those the tele sounded closer to me. But given the tracks, maybe they were blended.
Tea for one is also one of these overlooked songs, except Bonamasa made a live cover of it, so maybe not?

It's a toss up on which guitars were used.. could it be a blend of the Les Paul and the Tele?? All 3 seemed very close.. each guitar had that element the other guitars didnt
How about "Hots On For Nowhere" Robert? .. one of my all time favourite Led Zeppelin tracks from my favourite Led Zeppelin Album. Such a great mixture of timings and styles, all gelled together with superb performances by all four members.
Hey Robert, I appreciate your enthusiasm for the Mighty Led Zeppelin!!!👍 However any true Zeppelin fan KNOWS that this Masterpiece (V accurate description) IS NOT Overlooked by any means!!! Couriosly Presence sales were not what they should be. Its ARGUABLY their best album, musically the band was on fire! As the members described it was a time of desperation, kinda...Recorded in just 18 days , a marathon so to speak...the studio was only available for that period of time and they didn't want to wait....the reasons escape me...but I remember Page talking about it, and saying it was non stop, practically slept in the studio..may be their best song🤷♂️but as everyone knows how do you really pick a Mighty Led Zeppelin's Best song???

The song was born out of a music piece they use to play in the medley of "Dazed and confused". In "The song remains the same" Plant sings "San francisco" lyrics with it......It later evolved to "Achilles last stand". It is known and there are videos on youtube as "Led Zeppelin - San Francisco".......It's my favourite Led Zeppelin music piece!!
You have picked a subject I could go on for hours discussing, the Presence album.
Something that many dont really pick up on is its parallels to Led Zeppelin III. Both albums were overlooked as they were very different, both start with very heavy, bass chugging folklore oriented rockers (Immigrant Song/Achilles last Stand), delve into an unexplored genre or genre's compared to the previous albums (folk and acoustic on III/50's rock and roll on Presence, namely candy store rock). Also, lyrically and stylistically, Tea For One becomes almost a "sequel" to Since I've Been Loving You ("workin from 7 to 11 every night"/"Workin 24 hours"), as if the protagonist from the former is now single and lonely in the latter.
I am loving these Get the Led Out sessions! I can never get tired of this diverse and inspired catalog of musical masterpieces! Thank you man

If you’re going to seriously delve into a Led Zeppelin series you could try some live stuff as well as some out takes or left over pieces that didn’t quite make the cut. For live you could perhaps do a Dazed And Confused episode where you try all the different extra riffs that went into the live version. Again great stuff man, keep em coming.

For LZ, I'd say In Through The Out Door is my favorite album as it's just so different for them. Examining anything off that would be great, but especially Fool In the Rain, In the Evening, or Carouselambra
This is IMHO Zeppelin's finest hour. Most of the riffs and vocal parts came from the jams they did during Dazed and Confused over the years, so it wasn't one night of immaculate inspiration. All 4 guys are firing on all cylinders FOR 10 FREAKING MINUTES. Thanks for recognizing this song. MY favorites are all of Physical Graffiti and Since I've Been Loving You from the movie version of Song Remains The Same. And the Strat sounds best.

Presence was the album that turned me into a die-hard Zeppelin fan. I bought the album at a Stop 'N' Go (yes, the convenience store) in Houston, TX back in '76 after I read some of the lyrics to Achilles in Circus magazine. I put the song on when I got home and Holy Shit! I was hooked. And like you, Achilles has become my favorite Page solo.
Two songs you may want to look at are The Rover and The Wanton Song, both from Physical Graffiti, but of course you know that. :) I always felt that both songs deserved radio airplay.

Personally I always heard influences of Led Zeppelin in Tool. People often think of Led Zeppelin as just Blue-Rock, except harder and faster, but they were also very progressive and inventive. Always developing and innovating. Songs like Stairway To Heaven, Kashmir, No Quarter and Achilles Last Stand are these sweeping, atmospheric, dramatic, epic musical journeys with the complex organic changes, phrases and scales. Tool do that to a great extent in their albums starting with Lateralus to 10000 Days to Fear Inoculum. Tool are one of the most progress alternative/metal/rock bands out there. Its so cool that Tool did a cover of No Quarter, which I think is great.
Presence is my Favorite Zeppelin Album as well... very cool video.. I think the tele sounds more like parts of the main riff..
Well, this time is not so easy to tell which one is the closest one... it could sound silly but probably the main riff is played on at least two different guitars, and one of them could be the Strat...

In a interview Page told a story that Jones told Jimmy that he would not be able to find a scale to play over these chords and riffs , then Page said I found one ! Cool story . I don’t know what guitar but I like the les ,. So was the song by Bob Segar and heart barracuda had that feel riff
