If you keep missing 2nd, you can rotate the shifter one tooth around on the gear selector shaft. This will mean you won’t have to pull up as much to engage the other gears.
This is SOOO important, once you learn it it's one of those things: "How could I have driven before knowing this?"
Everybike I've ever owned I've had to lower the shifter they seem to come set far to high usually.
Never been an issue for me
Or just pre load the shifter so as soon as the throttle is closed it shifts up smooth like butter. Dont even need the clutch.
Tbh dude, in this video I was more happy for the fact you was happy, the happiness redirected me from the bike itself 😂
Well done on starting your journey to a full bike licence! I started on a 125cc during covid and worked my way through to now riding big bikes. I love the bike shed! If you ever want to have a feel for a bigger bike somewhere quiet then you're always welcome to come and try mine, genuine offer!
Congrats on getting the bike,as a life-long biker I would say take it easy in
City traffic, better to be late in this world than early in the next😊😊😊
@stepenrobbins Top advice.
Well done on your journey to a full motorbike licence! As an epileptic, I'm barred from driving any type of motor vehicle. I can still learn about motorbikes by watching your videos. Thank you!
Smart for blurring it.
Cool bike to start on, 99.9% of people are not hearing that exhaust and thinking it sounds cool though.
All the best on the licence journey fella!
If there's one tip I could give which really helped me it's put pressure on the gear foot lever first, then just dip the clutch to change, smoother and less like kicking the lever up or down then 😊 plus that smoothness is what you want for bigger bikes aswell so may as well get it practised on the 125.
Enjoy the bike you have too, don't feel like you have to rush onto big stuff even when you've passed, 125 are great on fuel and proper nimble around cities!
All the best! Safe riding 😉
Don’t worry about getting your licence. You’ve clearly got the bike riding skill for the manoeuvres and that’s the Mod 1 taken pretty much care of. Honestly, 95% of passing is the observations and positioning. Crack those, don’t clip a cone on the Mod 1 and you’re golden. It really is a doddle. I passed both, first time, as a nervous rider. Between the 2 tests, I only got 1 riding fault and that was for going under the min speed on the swerve avoidance. I’m no Rossi by any stretch and I found it so, so simple.
If you don’t plan to bike outside London, stick with a 125. It’ll be the same speed from A to B as any other bike. If you plan to go further a field then look into something with more oomph. I will say that bigger bikes are much easier to ride. They provide much more stability in low speed manoeuvres. The difference really is crazy.
Get a good tutor, book a Mod 1 course for a few hours with them and you’ll be shocked at how easy a Mod 1 is. I can’t see too much about how you ride from these videos but it looks like you’re short on observations. Going mirror, forward, life saver for basically everything is the key. Left and right when you stop doesn’t have take the proverbial but get into the habit as early as you can. It should be the first thing you’re taught with your tutor anyway.
Nice bike, too. I’m on a rather pedestrian CBF125. Not loud, not fast but 130+MPG is pretty excellent with the cost of fuel!
don't worry about having L plates on your bike everybody has had them at 1 point on their journey to a full licence
Yep. Proper bikers don’t care if you’ve got a plate or not. Don’t ride like a tosser and you’ll have a good time.
It’s one point, not 1 point.
Iv had L plates for 15 years 😅😂😢
Great video, nice bike! I have a full license myself, started with a Suzuki Gladius 650 but I prefer smaller motorcycles. 300cc is perfect for me but yours is perfect for in London I think. Very agile and light. Enjoy it man, don’t rush to get to the large cc’s. Only thing they get you is speeding tickets.
If you are rev matching I suggest doing it on higher speeds and on higher gears e.g. from 5th to 4th or 4th to 3rd
Congrats on hitting 170k, well deserved! you'll get 200k in no time
Missing 2nd is pretty easy on just about any bike, I'd suggest adjusting your gear lever. I think they come set up to fit a pair of boots underneath them.
Thank you for opening our eyes to the streets of London through your service and channel. One of kind viewing experience and I hope you continue on. I'd hope to let you know that it would be great for your subscribers if you ever created a store on here to purchase any merchandise. Would definitely buy. Thanks again
Good luck on your journey pal. I passed my big bike test back in 2011 after a few years on a 125. I had some belting days out and trips from 2011-2017 on my Fazer 600 and Triumph 800. I use to do everything on mine, commuting, touting, leisure you name it. In all weathers as well! Proper hardens you up when you’re riding at -2 to -8 I can bloody tell ya.
Sadly I haven’t had a bike since 2017 since getting into cars but maybe your journey will re-kindle my love of bikes?
I’m a religious watcher of the delivery videos, but I’ve really looking to this video series, as I’ve been very curious what it’s actually like to go through the bike license process (as here in the US, we stupidly have just one license class). Also love the idea of the channel having more videos like this showing bike spots in London. Thanks for taking us along! And gotta love the 125 becoming a 1250 in the tunnel haha that’s a pretty nice noise!
Speaking about L plates with bigger bikers, down where I’m from my mates are getting a2 and full licenses while I’m stuck on my cbt at the moment, but whenever I’m out and ride past a bigger bike wether I know them or not I get a nod 9/10 times. I also get advice on riding and maintenance from bigger bikes. Ride safe bro and good luck on getting your bigger license 🔥🙏
Nice bike, I drive an old Mini and get lots of respect and nods from bikers when driving around 👍
I passed first time today with no faults. I can’t tell you it is a great feeling!
Fuel indicators on bikes sometimes only go down when the tank is really half way. Its the case on a BMW F800 GS because the sensor can't follow the whole shape of the tank. Next to that it should indeed be fuel efficiënt! Most bikes do 150-200 miles on one tank, my honda nvt650 does 190 miles. I wish you the best on your journey!
It’s crazy how much different things are there compared to Texas. I got licensed on a 1449cc Harley at 19 with only a written test and a training class over 3 days.
Welcome to the noisy bike fam! I’d ridden 125s for years, but took my test in South London about 20 years ago, a good starter bike could be a 500cc Honda CB, totally reliable, pretty much does anything, the Ducati scramblers look nice, but they’re a bit small, Triumph are bringing out their new 400 scrambler this month, they’ll be about 5 grand, and looks like they’ll be nice bikes.
You gotta hit the country side on this beast
ive not long passed das still miss the 125 had so much fun on them, the strugle makes it more entertaining
So good to see you progressing through the licence. Honestly watching this video made me remember getting my ktm duke 125 a few years ago. That feeling of your first geared bike really stays with you, enjoy it my friend!
Have a look for a Cool Covers seat cover they really improve comfort. Good luck with the lessons fella.
Longer throw to second. Going through neutral. Also as others have said. Adjust the pedal to suit your own comfort. Dependent on ankle movement. Even foot size. Love the bike. I nearly bought one of its big brothers, years ago. Watch your license. And the noise police. Have no idea about the journey from L plates to full license. We rode around the block. The examiner was on foot. He jumped out at some point for the emergency stop. You missed him you passed. 600 Kawasaki within days. Out of all my bikes since. Only one under 600. A ZXR 400 grey import. Kawasaki racing colours. Hooligan bike. But fun. Now in my 60's bikes have always been part of my life. From being taken around as a baby on my Dad's to now. Enjoy the journey.
"going through neutral" that's exactly it, no gaps between other gears. Just needs getting used to.
Awesome to see you really enjoying yourself. Love the channel!
Good luck with it all. Got my full licence many years ago and I still think I’m a better car driver for learning on bikes first. Funniest moment when learning? A Porsche revving his engine to race at lights - until I pulled away in front so he could see my L plates and learn any bike can beat any car away from a standing start. What a plonker he must have felt. Nice looking bike.
"oh tunnel woo ya!!!!" 😂so happy for you mate good luck on the full license
Love it mate! I have the exact same exhaust on my ER5, it’s loud but like you, I love it! Loud exhausts save lives 👌👍🏻🏍️
This is a personal preference, but I would suggest swapping your mirrors, the one on the right switches with the one on the left, and they go under your handle bar (Bar end Mirror). I'm not sure about the UK but they are legal in my country, they look great, and it is much more difficult to hit your mirrors, just a suggestion.
Try pre loading the gear shifter before clutching for the trouble you are having getting into second, be careful though if you come off the throttle you will do a clutchless shift! Good luck on your journey brother
Nice bike man....good luck on your journey to getting your full bike licence
Wow nice man that's the perfect type of bike I would buy for city riding and occasional 50 mph+ roads. Sounds so good. I concur I would not do deliveries on that bike because it will attract too much attention and eventually get stolen.
Looking forward to the process towards your licence, bike looks awesome and sounds proper cant believe it's a 125cc. With all your food delivery experience your half way there 👍
Bro, that is a DOPE bike! I love that the Yamaha MT's have colored rims! Nice bar-end mirrors too! Great sound! Welcome to #TheGasLife 🏍💨🤙🏾
have 3 R1's sitting in my garage, 2 race bikes & 1 road , Sons name's Rossi :D Biking is life , Don't ever be worried about pulling up at a bike meet , WE look after our own & you wont get picked on , I recommend doing a novice only track day so you can plod along at your own speed and get better equated with gears and corners ect
You’ve got the bug Dude, believe me, it will never leave you. Re second gear, make sure your boots aren’t restricting your movement. I break in mine by doing loads of crouches with my boots on, in the warm, to loosen them up…. Good luck Dude….
Try adjusting your clutch cable. This may help with finding second gear. Make sure you have some free play on the lever to
passed my MOD 2 last month. Got a VFR800 and I'm loving it!!!
Really good bit of kit...very pleased for you...have fun and good luck 😂
Thats the best looking 125 ive seen, nice one 👍🏻 Best of luck with training, no one looks down on learners we all stick together. Bike shed is great been many times. Keep up the good work love the channel.
enjoy and ride safe looking forward to your journey to a full licence
Wish we have a place like the bike shed here in N.Ireland, love the mt125 I currently have a Benelli tnt125 with a black widow exhaust and it’s so loud now I’m hoping to start my big bike license soon
Beautiful beginner bike ! please make sure to invest in some high quality locks and disk locks for it , not that oxford crap go for ABUS and get a ground anchor. Those MT125 are hot for bike thieves at the minute.
Dude you know what, it's amazing hearing you so happy man! I love this, keep up the amazing energy and spread the love dude!
Skipped over the 125 myself! Just used the school bikes, although I needed 2 attempts at both mod 1 and 2 🤣 so maybe I could have used some time owning a 125
Missing second, might just need some grease somewhere along the linkage with the engine👌
@londoneats I'm a delivery driver on je , roo, ue in lincoln. I've taken ur advice with an ebike . And I've gotten the zebra (with your promo code ) . I love the bike so far, but I have not been out delivering yet, tho .
Guy i work with has done nearly 20k in a year on his MT 125, Things been hammered and keeps on going strong 💪
Go to an upholstery place and get gel inserts to replace the foam
Looking forward to more episodes on your full licence journey. Thanks. Peace.
Put the stock mirrors back on so you can lane split better
Ignore the fuel gauge (not reliable on motorcycls). Instead reset your trip milage when you fill to the top. Then when the fuel light flashes look at your milage then you know what a tank can do. Good luck mate. I can't get enough if my motorbike.
Very nice bike~ Hope you do a video on delivery with this bike soon.
I used to call missing 2nd gear "tripping over neutral" I struggled with that first time I rode a manual bike. It happens 😂😂😂
I don't live in a large city, but I imagine a good investment for riding in London would be to add a quick shifter to your bike so you can change gear without having to clutch, changing gears that often would be very tiring on the left hand! Perhaps not until you get your full license though, I don't know if instructors and examiners need to see you using the clutch to change, and only on a bike you intend to keep for a while.
You say that you haven't used much of your fuel tank
but you also don't do deliveries on this. So it's not easy to compare to your Niu.
I believe it would be cool to do deliveries on this. Especially if you say, that you like electric vehicles that much (or so I gather).
Seems that you're having fun driving it, so working on it should make you happier as well.
I saw somewhere (might of been temu ad) that you can get a cover that allows air flow... looks like a cushion too
Congrats and welcome to real bike riding 125 seems really tiny but being in u.s. we don't have size restriction for a beginner bike my first bike was Suzuki gs550e with 4 into 1 yoshimura lol
Looks so clean , but wish the sizing cc was different in the uk , on country lanes and motorways is so slow and dangerous to get up to speed , literally a way of getting more money into the government
Man thats a very cool bike, well done. Sounds epic
Awesome little bike, I had an MT-125 as my 3rd bike before getting my full license, ride safe! ❤
As you may guess from my username, i have a Goldwing 1800cc, 6 cylinder, not that practical around London though. Point is no matter what size bike you ride, L plates etc, i always nod or wave to fellow bikers. We all started the same way. Just done a cool weeks ride doing the Scottish NC500. Doing 1400 miles in 8 day, an excellent holiday. Doing it in a car just not the same. Enjoy your journey to full bike licence.
Ride within your limits. Don't run before you can walk so to speak. Enjoy and stay safe.
i spent a year on a 125 before doing my full licence and was a huge advantage compared to others doing there test without any 125 experience, don't rush it bro
Congrats on getting your motorcycle license. You told us all a while ago, so you HAD to pass! Capital work! Happy to see it. Loud bikes save lives.
You are a charming young man I wish everyone would have the energy you have the world would be a better place
Fantastic Bike mate. Enjoyed the video as i can see you really like riding it and it sounds fantastic. Soooo jealous!!! Keep up the good work and content.
The only sad thing is that when riding inside the city you really don't need more than that 125, anything bigger is just going to be a waste and you're very rarely going to get a chance to open it up properly
Good luck on your new journey on learning to ride!
Congrats on the new bike pal! Ride Safe! ❤
I did my advanced Motorcycle course in 1980, I was taught,,, more paint on the road, more danger on the road . . .
Love the WH0DAT Hoodie. One day i wanna meet you on the road! Congrats on the new bike!
Congrats on the bike :) welcome to the club
Just imagine going to the Bike Shed on the DYU D3F. 😅 A monster of a bike 😂
I love that bike mate well deserved. Keep up with the amazing content bro
Yes I may check the oil level one day and find coolant mixing with the oil....may be a gaskit issue,,,,,i'm not gonna take the engine apart outside over that.
Class vid, would love to see some more of you just riding around London (not just deliveries)
Great little bike. Love the Bike Shed.
Don't feel so anxious about L plates, i rode a Duke 125 on L plates for couple years and always had big bikers chat to me etc at food stops, got plenty of nods from them too. Did my full licence back in January this year and bought a 2nd hand Yamaha FZ6 with 13k miles on the clock, just 7 and half months later it's already up to 21k on the clock, honestly getting a full bike licence was one of the best things i ever did, the freedom a bigger bike gives you is unmatched.
Wow how many deliveries on that. I'll time you. well done mate.
MAKE SURE your keeping your right foot on the brake while briefly stopped. Obviously knocking it into neutral after 5 seconds or so. If you put your right foot down and using the front brake, you'll fail bro.
Congrats on getting a new bike!
Your correct, now I’m fully licensed, I never judge a 125 because I used to be one, We only judge you when you ride and do something silly like stop at a green light looking for directions on drop off location lol stay safe buddy and enjoy it!
I would appreciate more vlog videos of just life and food in London. Especially the food, show us the food
Some of us are old enough to have the bike licence grandfathered in before all the changes - but then again will I buy a bike and just go riding without any training - nope
have fun and joy with it
What you like better ICE or Battery....BET you save alot on the Battery bike with gas and maintenance.
That silver car in front of you towards the end was a pretty rare e46 estate
I have an MT125 72 plate, such a nice bike, ill be moving up to the 500cc very soon. Congrats bro keep it locked up! :)
I have had one mt-125, It did 125mpg without issues. But, my MT-03 2017 is much better with 66mpg. I also have a r1 and 50mpg only. I hope you are now 24+ so you can get a full A licence.
Great video, the new bike looks great 👍🏻
Lovely bike to start on. Enjoy and ride safe.
Lovely colour mate. Delighted for you!
I'm a similar situation to u at the moment I'm learning gears for the first time I'm part exchanging my scooter for a cbf 125cc
Love the bike mate. I’ve got a 22 MT09SP. Glad to see you enjoying yourself. More content with the new bike!
Very nice Bike Man! Congrats!!!
This is a whole new series…
Another amazing episode👍👍👍
Absoloutly loved this video mate. Watching all the way from New Zealand!
Its nice man i m a old guy in the US and ride a Ultra limited Harley but i love all bikes. Which is why i watch you. I do miss my sport bike from when i was younger but i d love to own a Yahabusa or a 1000 CBR or GXR.
