    On your old engine the gas tank is higher than the carb and is gravity feed.
    Your pulse pump is so the tank can be mounted most anywhere, even below the carb. As the engine runs the pulse pump operates on pulses from the engine crankcase as the piston moves up and down. These pulses pull gas from the tank and pushes it to the carb.
    If you use the tank off the old engine and mount it on top of the engine like the old one, you won't need the pump.

    Bentley a few things that you should do so it's done right... the silver tip with the threaded bottom is a pulse fitting it screws into the top oil fill hole on the engine then a hose runs from it to the fuel pump to cause vacuum and pull the fuel through the pump and into the carb... the tank should ideally be mounted to the floor under the steering upright and shaft with the hose running up to the fuel pump then one hose from pump to carb... the clutch can be changed by taking the guts out of both and putting the new guts in the old clutch basket.. and still be able to use the same size chain with a better clutch... I ran predator engines on dirt oval racing karts and won a couple championships with them and have put together a few of them in my time... hope the advice helps... keep up the good work

    Hey Bentley you can remove the snap ring clips off of both of them to swap those outer clutch Bell to the right size one. That way you can still use it on that engine. Try to put the clutch that you put on the new engine. If it fits the same. The Bell will enter change out by that snap ring clip. You'll need snap ring pliers.,or tool for that procedure and process of removing and reinstalling it over onto your new clutch pack. A very big secret on that part to. Remove it slowly and do not tamper with the springs. Then it should slide back over that pack slowly again until it's over the springs and clutch shoes again. Just reinstall the snap ring into place. That part should work if they are the same diameter crankshaft check with A ruler.,or tape measure either one of those. To be able to get the right width of both crankshafts on both engines those engines.

    Two thoughts, I was the same almost 50 years ago and I wouldn't wait to try it. I would have checked to see if the driven end of the clutch would fit the new driving side so I could use the old chain and with the pulse pump I would have mounted the tank someplace else, gravity not needed. I would use the support brackets for the exhaust just to stop the tuning fork action. My engine was an old iron 3.5 hp Briggs. Yep, I am an old fart!!

  • @squishy312
    @squishy312 24 дні тому

    Audio tip: For the wind noise on the microphone, you can put what's called a "dead cat" on there (yep, that's the technical term). It's basically a chunk of synthetic fur that makes the wind not so harsh on the mic port. An alternative to buying one, (they are rather inexpensive really) is to use an old furry stuffed animal or something. Cut out a 1/2 inch to 1 inch patch of the fur, then cut a round hole in the fabric that holds the fur together. Either use velcro, or double sided tape to stick it on top of the mic hole. (make sure to cut hole for mic in the velcro/double sided tape as well.) Great video! The wind noise wasn't even that bad really, just for future reference use when you're rippin' down the trail. It's been hot here in Montana as well. Stay cool out there if ya can!

    Cool beans. I'd love to get an engine like that! I'd do something with that exhaust though, either modify it to come out at a different angle, or replace with a different one altogether... It sticks out to the side way too much. I'd hate to see someone zipping through the woods and smack the exhaust off a tree or something. That wouldn't be good! 😬

    You can break-in your engine at any speed ABOVE idle, but not at idle. The break-in process may occur faster if the engine is operated at varying loads and speeds. It is recommended that an engine not be operated continuously at full load during the initial hours of operation. You dad should have mentioned you this, as he has taught you well thus far, Well done Bentley! You make us all proud....and a fellar sure hopes you tighten up those engine bolts (Once you get your chain figured out.) 🏎 🏁 p.s. I seriously doubt that is a tuned exhaust. Personally I would cut away the elbow and about four inches back (Towards the engine) to give you a nice looking pipe/exhaust that isn't hanging out the side in left field in the open like that, but your choice...to me if you could talk your pops into it, I would cut it and rotate it up and re-weld the tube..would give it old school sand rail type header. But it's your ride dude! 😉

    You need to turn your muffler so that the positioning of your clamp is below the the muffler. Just makes it look neater. Your doing a good job Bentley. Dad taught you well.

    I think you should do a tear down video on the old engine to see where things went wrong! Keep up the great work!

    Hey bud you can take the pull cord shroud off and re position it so that the pull cord it facing twords the back of the kart making it easier to get to . With the design you won't have to worry about the recoil spring mechanism unspooling it is all encased in the shroud so that you are able to reposition that pull cord shroud. Great job little man I bet your dad so proud of you. My daughter and I really enjoy yours and your pop's channels we can't wait till the next. Keep focused on school and we will all be here when the next video drops . God bless you and yours .
