Thank you for your clear and concise video, along with good useful tips. Much appreciated. Also, you have some very beautiful stones there polished up for jewellery. Your daughter is lucky to receive such a gift from her father : )
This is The Video I needed. My husband tumbles beautiful stones and I would love to have a Tiger Eye necklace. I’m not in to wire wrapped jewelry. Thank you for such details! ❤
Great tutorial on drilling rocks ! Like that you shared to messed up one also. Lets people know what could happen and how to fix it. They all turned out great 😃👍
No problem thanks for watching. I I come up with any more tips or tricks I'll make sure to share them. Sometimes it's just nice to see someone else do it before you try so you know what to expect. Maybe learn something from my mistakes lol.
Hi! Just came across your video. I am having trouble successfully drilling cabs for jewelry. Polished agates and jaspers are so hard! I have a Dremmel 4000 with the work station (like a drill press), use water, diamond 1-1.5 mm drill bits, and the wooden block in water like you do. I finally got ahold with a customer service rep at Dremmel. She said “no” Dremmel can drill through either jasper or agate…”the Dremmel just isn’t powerful enough! “ I was totally disheartened, as I have spent a fortune on the 4000, work station, bits, universal collets, etc! …..and now I see you actually CAN drill through them by watching your video! QUESTION: what special process, if any, do you use when drilling through the front-to-back (for a pinch bail for a pendant) when you are using a flat back, rounded top, and polished cab? How to keep it from slipping around on that rounded/curved face of the cab? I am becoming so frustrated with cracked stones and broken drill bits! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Regards, Virginia
Question: Do you feel like it would be a good idea to tumble them one last time to smooth out the hole after drilling? Or... would you want to drill them first and then tumble? Mind you they do look nice the way you have done them.
amazingly enough neither "AM ROCK TUMBLING" nor anyone else has bothered to answer your query from what i can see here; he's using what's referred to as a 'ROTARY TOOL', in the case made by the DREMEL co. ((a standard for beginners, amateurs & professionals) although there are OTHER makes such as WORX (MAKER X) et al. the model as you can see @ 9:43 is the "MULTIPRO". dremel is VERY dependable & well made with a range of models & accessories to fit your needs & budget. MANY hardware outlets e.g. ACE, LOWES & HOME DEPOT stock it although you MIGHT find it cheaper online (i'm not sure). just apply a bit of due diligence & you can set yourself up with the basic(s) for well under $100 & with proper usage & care these things will last a lifetime. they're actually 'heirloom quality'. good luck.
you neglected to apprise those newbie viewers of EXACTLY what tool you're using; one shouldn't have to depend on catching that 5 second glimpse. also, would rather have listened to the sound of the ACTUAL process than the music. provide links to anything you mention you purchased online too.
@@amrocktumbling8298 well ofc, but one shouldn’t have to suss through the comments to learn that. also plz include exactly which model for the viewer. 🙏🏼

Hi there, which drill bits did you use for your regular drill? First want to try with my regular drill before investing into a dremel :-)

Thanks, I figure it never hurts to show the good with the bad just so everyone knows it's ok to mess up sometimes. We are all learning.
Thanks for showing us this method. I feel more confident to try it now.

Slow and steady will take care of the hole...It is also a low RPM.. You need keep your bits cool.
Hey loved ur video, regarding the drill itself, is that a normal one with those particular tips or should I buy a another one?
Love from Italy
Do you recommend using the Dremel directly vs the flex shaft?
Thank you
What kind of bits did you use?

I am goin to try drilling them before I polish them next time and see how it goes.
I have a plugged in one, is that going electrocute me, thank you I needed this video.
Can this be done with moldavite
It's a great video, which Dremel are you using and which size of bits, is this the smallest size? Thanks so much

What speed do you have the drill set at? And what grit?
I was running my dremel at full speed and the diamond bits that I bought don't list a grit, I think all the diamond bits are pretty much the same.
@@amrocktumbling8298 Thank you!
What tumbler do you us
I have lortone rotary and I use a lot-o vibratory.
Really interested in
Where are you located
I am in Iowa
Do you wear a mask while doing this?
Water should catch any dust from going into the air
I wasn't because the water knocks down the dust.
How did you get the rocks to look so shiny
He probably tumbled them in a rock tumbler
Tumbling them with a quality grit and polish. The vibratory tumbler seems to do a very good job.
Omg, here we go with the music. My Dremel doesn’t play that god awful tune. It is super annoying.

@@amrocktumbling8298 How many RPM does your dremmel rotary tool have? It;s important!
