Being a teenager in the seventies was the best, so many great bands and the best of them all 10cc, or Bowie, or Roxy, or Mud or Slade or ........ 10cc the best.
I LOVE this song! Great rockin' tune, but with very clever lyrics also. I was Amazed to come across a live version of it. Thanks So much for the upload.
I still touch base with this stuff periodically, 46, 47, 48....years later. And I get a good laugh out of it...because it's the sheer joy of listening to genius. I love it when people have played so long that they can completely tear it up. Which is where they were at. It's like watching a Harold Lloyd film. The kooky thematic breaks. The cartoon guitar solos. The weird viewpoints. The hapless victims. The villains. The preposterous outcomes. The shimmering GIZMO. Ahhh....sigh....a collective and heartfelt thank you, 10cc !
Thanks for sharing, I'm learning the guitar parts... back in '77, my mate played this single on repeat all day long... hard to realise now just how 'techno' it was at the time.
THANK YOU! RetroSteve62! this song is such a blast to hear and it brings back great memories. 10cc Fan club, Imagine1960, RetroSteve62 are all great friends of 10cc fans! The 6 "not likers" are lacking in imagination...
I love 10cc. What is surprising to me is I have just been sitting here watching classic bands and performances from the 70s and lo and behold there's a VIDEO. Like an actual music video. I grew up in the 70s and 80s and unless I've completely forgotten, videos came with MTV in the early 80s. I just saw a video for the 10cc song, The Things We Do For Love. Unless I am mistaken, the male love interest is literally...a very young Mr. Sheffield from The Nanny. And I believe the female in the video played a wife/mother on a sitcom or series years later, as well. How funny.
Ich bin so unendlich traurig das ich diese Zeit nicht so intensiv miterleben durfte (zu jung) Ich fahre total auf Eric ab😉 Ja ,mir ist klar das er mittlerweile 75 Jahre alt ist ❤
"I got to go round the Quad factory in the early 80's and the test engineer used this song to test the electrostatic speakers cling film like stuff at its best what a sound!!!"
I saw an interview with Lol Creme and his reply to the breakup, the success of "Things We Do...", was something like "well, we've done that, let's move on". Oddly enough, he went on to be a significant producer of MTV vids including DePeche Mode and Tears For Fears
All the lads had the centre parting look back then but my hair wouldn't allow me to as i have a cows lick as we say in England , scroll on a few years and those same lads are slap heads , mind you 2024 I'm getting there.
@@magicmike6961 By patchy I thought you meant lacking. What I meant was it's always gonna be more difficult performing a song like GMJ live because of the complexities
Seriously, who writes songs like this? Answer, nobody but 10cc. Pure genius.
REALLY I CONCUR!!!
SteelyD, definitely, you hit the nail squarely on the head with that comment. I agree👍

Rick Fenn plays stellar bass and switches now and then for a split second to slide guitar. Superb.

10cc so happy I don't want to be free. 🎼🎸🎶
Clever rocky number from a truly great and horribly under rated band
But we know and love 10CC even in Ukraine!!! )))

good morning judge great music
Great band
The bit from 2.00 to about 2.52. That is real musicianship to match anyone
Mr. Gouldman's bass is killer
@@krollpeter Gouldman is in fact playing the rhythm guitar in here and is duelling lead with Stewart on the soloing part

Brilliant.
I had the cassete and album Deceptive bends.
I wish I had seen them live. I have the live double album which is brilliant, especially "Feel the Benefit".
Pure magic
0:39 Is this where The Beastie Boys got their idea from for the running chases in Sabotage?
The next song after this one on album was and is , The Things we do for love.
This is after the break up. So sad.
This band could have been world beaters...

Babyface Eric stewart
It has a Robert Palmer sound to it. I wonder if they collaborated or knew each other?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Pre MTV!
i have GOT to add "Deceptive Bends" to my collection...
This is proper 10cc, just a shame t wasn't at the time the original 4 were together

Maybe post the split up of the original 4 piece. But a great band
