- Driving to upstate New York for a change of scenery in the Lexus GX460. I threw out my back and am currently in recovery so the seats in this luxury beast are perfect.

Lexus wipers: can lift 100 lbs
Tedward: Lifts 100lbs & throws out his back
Hahhah too true
As a current gx460 and v8 tundra owner, nothing puts a baby/child to sleep like the wonderful low rumble of a Toyota/lexus v8 cruising. I’ve driven thousands and thousands of miles with the radio off just listening to these engineering masterpieces hum, it’s so pleasant and stress relieving. It’s so sad these are no longer rolling off the production line. We need to convince Toyota/Lexus to make a special model gx550, tundra or Land Cruiser with an undersquare version of the is500 v8.
As much as it sucks, stretching helps a ton as well. I have tweaked my back a couple of times and each time stretching helped speed up my recovery!
It’s brutal but I spend a lot of time stretching massaging and rolling. Painful but necessary
Dream scene: a V8 and rain
w/ a belly full of food and a wallet full of money
Happy to see a UA-camr expressing admiration for Wipers! I’ve appreciated them since a kid. I think nothing beats a Merk sweep. Agreed, an out of pocket home is required along with a city spot! Keep working, Sir!
Just a recommendation from a GX owner. Put 38 psi in the tires when you want it to handle or tow. The 32 stock recommendation is really soft and for comfort.
Thanks! Thats about where it's at. dealer set at 38 actually lol
@@TedwardDrivesFor fun try the stock 32. It's amazing how wallowing and cushy it is.
@@Iruian2 I always like f*cking around with the PSI. Currently running 39 PSI and getting 23mpg. I really should go down to 35 or so as potholes with high psi are kind of jarring.
460 is going to be a classic. people will come back and look for it, 20 years later
I could sincerely listen to you talk about the GX all-day. It's such a good car, you didn't go a tad bit wrong by buying the 2023 V8 before it went away forever.
Absolutely correct! The GX560 will be around for years and years, not do the last 2023 GX460 GX!
Oh yes, more GX drives, loveeeee it :) Thanks for listening to me.
I love the 2023 Lexus GX 460 and the 2021 Lexus LX 570 both of them are luxury models🇯🇵🤍❤️🙏
I came across your page one day when I was searching for E46 M3 videos. Now you are cruising thru my town! Very cool. Hope you enjoyed.
I go to school in Hudson! I daily drive a 2015 Golf GTI and it’s amazing on those roads. This video LITERALLY hits close to home
I love rainy days
fGreat observation about the rear wiper!!
I specifically watch for your therapy drives and videos that you're talking about life. Love 'em
These handle SOOOOO much more on point, and crisply with next to no body roll, vs the new float jitter box, all over the place new GX & LX models.
Vibration, alignment & other issues commonly aside, these feel like a billet steel bank vault that can rip around corners. Respect.
Also Hudson & Catskill are COOL💯
We love a weekend getaway! Reminds me a bit of some of the Columbia River gorge towns in OR/WA my friends and I have explored
Beautiful scenery man! Love it. Reminds me somewhat of the English countryside.
On a side note, that GX is a Biggg-A$$ V8 monster-SUV... no wonder it's capable and comfortable!! Driving one of those anywhere in Europe would be akin to riding a growing oil liability...not to mention finding a parking spot would prove next to impossible 💀
Ultimately I love the final bit on the (Italian?) resto-moto-bar - cool place! and the music!!! What music is that???
I wish you a speedy recovery with your back injury. Also, about the M5: If you see yourself keeping that car for a long time, you should just bite the bullet and get her back to tip top shape. Easier said than done when it's not my money, but that's what I'd do if I had an E39 M5 as nice as your's is.
I’m a subscriber now because of your GX contents Boss 😎
Your rant about drivers and using their lights = We can totally be friends, my brother. Im mid 30s and I feel 28 but my body is like "BRUH. I'm 50, chill!" lol.
Im considering getting a Passport Elite/Touring/Black Edition and then doing the JonDZ treatment to make it semi-rugged: 2" lift, axle relocator kit, 31.5" M/T tires (Florida, it rains and gets muddy a lot) .... Or getting a new 2025 Land Cruiser for about 60k or a slightly used 2023 GX460 for about 50k +/- 10k.
Tough choices. I love the comfort and space of the Passport, and the 27ish hwy MPG and non-premium fuel.... but I love the new Land Cruiser with the square lights. But that i-force = 93 all day, sucks....
That was a nice peaceful drive Ted and my cat Brutus enjoyed watching as well. Upstate NY is really pretty. Years ago I was at Cornell in Ithaca and the surrounding areas were so pretty. I hope to go back one of these days and just drive around. Best of luck with your back injury. 👍
Thank you so much!!! I’m really glad Brutus enjoyed it :)
Solid suv 👌
What a dream life!😃 Great video!
Nice outro montage.
your car, a coffee how better can life get
Plus the coffee is served a shop with a bunch of Ducati's parked inside and a helmet wall. The coolest
Just in case you don’t know your Mark Levinson Soundsystem will shut off on you when you listen to any song with a strong bass!!! You would have to shut the car off and restart it for it to work again. Call the manufacture and ask him about it!!
have not encountered this.
It's kind of a shame the auto headlights on a lot of cars don't come on in the rain. Ironically, I have a Lexus - an IS 500 - and it does not usually turn the auto headlights on in the rain. I've got to do it myself, like the good ole days. lol
It seems like such an obvious oversight. We credit engineers for such brilliant feats but somehow people still drive around with no headlights in dangerous conditions
Interesting! In my Subaru and Mazda when I turn the wipers on the headlights will automatically turn on.
Some vehicles will do it but often have an option within the infotainment to use it or not.
@@TedwardDrives There is a sensitivity setting for mine, which seems to help, but still not guaranteed. And, a side effect of turning up the sensitivity is that it'll also turn on when I drive under an overpass or through a short tunnel.
I drive pretty hard - 21,200 mi on my 2022 Nori Green Blackline's brakes. I find them pretty adequate for the type of vehicle.
so relaxing 😌❤
Nice drive!
Watching your last Type R video made me interested in a Civic, especially when you said the normal ones start at 25k. Then I saw the prices here in Europe (starting at 35k Euros/Dolars) and I stopped looking to buy one. There's only the hybrid version selling here in my country. ☹
Woah
Some 4Runners don't have auto-headlights. It's super frustrating that a car that starts at >40k$ doesn't have basic features like that.
Hypothetical situation - if you lived in sunny California and had a budget of $50k, what car/cars would you own? (asking for a friend)
I think my 1988 911 and 2023 Honda Civic Type R would fit right in
@@TedwardDrives that makes so much sense lol! Thank you for replying! Love your work especially drive theraphy.
How long are your usual local therapy drives?
I haven’t taken one in a long time. Now that it’s spring weather I’ll probably start doing 2-3 hour loops
I love cars and get the bad back thing but its sad that in the USA we have therapy drives and not walks because the infostructure is just that shit
I’ll start filming some therapy runs when I’m healed up
beautiful!! are you putting in premium gas or do you run regular on this? Seems like its the same engine as the prior LCs
Premium for sure. It asks for it in the manual. Although I heard another gx owner ask for regular at the gas station the other day 😂. I had to bite my tongue and not say something to him.
@@TedwardDrives yeah. There’s this big debate on the forums about whether it’s needed truly or if the ECU will simply compensate or not. Hence the dilemma haha
Such a sleeper truck!!! 🚚
Did you get an exhaust?
I imagine you probably don't want to get into politics too much, but do you have opinions on emissions regulations pushing out naturally aspirated V8s and even V6 engines for turbo-charged 4 cylinders? The new 4Runner got rid of the beloved, tried-and-true NA V6.
I’m all for efficiency because who wants to spend money on gasoline 😂. The trade off seems to be complexity which is frustrating and increases chances of unreliability. Progress is absolutely necessary in this department but it also feels like the middle class average joe has to be the one to pay the bill for the expensive technology and repairs. So yes very conflicting but I don’t have anger or animosity toward cleaner vehicles.
I feel way more comfortable here in the city, but its because I can't see well enough to drive.....
wet conditions in the dark are the worst for sure.
5th 4Runners don't have auto headlights. stalk switch.
no the 4runer does not have auto headlights.
😊👍
I have friends who live just south of Hudson - I'll have to check out that Moto Coffee/Machine place next time I'm in the area. That looks dope!
god everything about this is just so dreamy. i can’t explain why but im just absolutely in love with these things
I don’t like Lexus I don’t see them often in my area but I use to live in California then we moved out of there
Should I trade my Es350 in for one?
I did
yay another therapy drive! and your route isn't that far away from where I live haha. Some great scenic places in the Catskills and along the hudson!
btw, Ive managed to land myself in an FL5 and your videos definitely helped with that decision!
Congrats!! You’ll love it
2023? 😅 looks more like 2012
thats the best part about it
2010-23 were basically the same minus some exterior facelifts, and a few interior changes and updates. If it ain't broke, don't fix it
You push to hard at the gym go easy
averageing 20mpg looks like?
headlines on lol, people don't care
Good car but a boring car.
No offense.
Define boring. lol
@@ARentz07 like a nice soap 🧼
It's great and all but doesn't have that something that makes you wanna own it and drive it across the continent.
Like I said it's a good car that's not the issue, but something's is missing.
Even a Nissan Altima is more exciting, at least for me.
I needed a boring car for this trip! A stiff exciting car would have killed my back
I like boring, reliable, and safety! Also that silky smooth V8!
