There's no Italian word for "lager" apparently -- only "birra chiara" (meaning "blonde beer"). But not to worry as all lagers are beers anyway -- beers are either ales or lagers but all are "beer" (or "birra" in Italian). I suppose they could call it "Lager Moretti" (for the British market) but Birra Moretti is quite accurate!
Them Greene king beers you mentioned was it "noble lager" by any chance ? Good luck with that one mine was rank tasted of vinegar Have a look at untapped a bit more sensible reviews when it comes to lagers than rate beer
I love this lager, and even more so, the Birra Moretti La Rossa (7%) double bock.
